Joe, would it be possible for you when you tear down the house trailer to take the trailer frame with wheels and use it to stack your firewood on then pull it to the wood burner. maybe even build the floor, 3 walls and a roof and leave the one long side open to pull from? save you from multiple moving of firewood and will help keep it out of the weather. Just a thought i had.

Looking at the tomatoes in the garden reminded me of a story my dad told me. He always had a lot of tomatoes and this one year he told a neighbor to help herself to some tomatoes. He got home from work the next day and she had taken EVERY ripe tomato in his garden. So much for being generous.

It set me back when you talked about your Mom. I lost and miss my Mom since 1997 and it's tough! The time we got a roll off it was always $300. no tires unless they are cut up. I managed to fill 5 of them since living at this house. On the first one there was a 10x8 ft. metal shed that was in bad shape and the thought of taking in down wasn't working for me, so with the fork and bucket attachment it went down quickly. Scooped it up and dumped it in, in less than 20 minutes. I mowed one big pasture today and finish up the rest tomorrow, so I can park the bush hog for the year.

Joe, just a suggestion.. I have a wood boiler and I don't split my wood, also instead of double handling wood, once I cut it, it goes into the bucket of my tractor and gets dumped right in front of my wood boiler and covered with a tarp. I don't Stack it or split it if it will fit in the boiler, then I'm only handling the wood one time, I'm very busy as well so I try to make it less work for myself.

I am cutting up some ash wood here. It can be extremely hard to cut. Cutting a trunk of a standing tree it cut great with a Stihl saw about 3/4 of the way then the saw got into a bit that wouldnt cut. Smoked the oil on the chain. Made me think the chain was dull so I switched it out with a new one and same thing. Moved about 24 inches along the trunk and tried again. Cut like normal. I have seen liquid water flowing out from a snow pile on a subzero day. snow is a great insulator. I shovel snow onto my rose bushes to minimize cold damage.

Have been through hernia surgery... the sooner you do it, the better you'll be in terms of recovery. I had both sides done... with mesh... open surgery. Have heard that doing it laparoscopically shortens recovery time, as incisions are smaller, but they won't want you doing any heavy lifting for several months. Painful getting around for a few days... not bad after that. I kept a broomstick close by to help me get up off the bed/couch the first few days... wasn't bad after that.
