  • After having climbed several peaks recently over 3000 meters, it was time to tackle one over 4000. I found a place in Switzerland where there are two such peaks which are not too difficult to climb: Lagginhorn (4 010 m) and Weissmies (4 017 m).
    To find out how to conquer this type of peak solo, but also to see the magnificent views of the Swiss Alps please watch this video.

    Very inspiring video. Is special climbing gear (ropes, crampons, ...) Not required in this summit or was it just luck that there was almost no snow?

    • @never-too-late
      @never-too-late  Před rokem +2

      Thank you very much for your comment and question. In the summer this summit does not require any special equipment. But you must stay careful, the weather can change suddenly like always in the mountains.

    • @Paul51088
      @Paul51088 Před rokem

      well it depends on the time of the year and snow conditions. most likely you will need at least crampons and a simple ice axe for the final steep snowfield below the summit (not shown in this video). sometimes in late summer its possible to reach the summit without touching snow when snowfield has gone or you can navigate around it. but you never know, so better crampons and iceaxe

    Great and inspiring video! Never did solo hiking though=). How many hours in average does it take to hike from Saas-Grund to Hohsaas Hut? And how many hours doest it take to hike from Hohsaas hut to Lagginhorn peak? Is this trekking well labeled so I can go solo as well? Thinking to travel soon to Saas-Grund. Thank you😀

      I do not remember exactly but you can download the GPS track from the link in the description. Use Google Earth to see the distance and the level difference, the time will depend on you, everybody walks at their own pace. Till the hut the path is marked after you follow the traces, in the summer there are lots of people. If not use the GPS. Good luck!!!

    • @never-too-late
      @never-too-late  Před rokem +1

      In my opinion it is a very good tent for winter. You need to keep door half open to avoid condensation. It was cheap but not anymore 😞. You can see how I use it in my videos czcams.com/video/sl1QM_VIzV8/video.html

      One more question: can it withstand strong gust?

    • @never-too-late
      @never-too-late  Před rokem +1

      It holds up well, but is very noisy like any tent in the wind. The side walls touch your sleeping bag there is no attachment point in the middle like with MSR. One more point, it's floor is very slippery, so the platform must be very flat otherwise you will slip with your mattress.

      I wouldn't have dared to do that at the age of 55 and in good shape.
