  • Buxton Museum and Art Gallery is delighted to have been awarded a Stage 1 pass from the Heritage Lottery Fund to explore digital access to the collections, not just inside the museum, but outside, where the archaeological and geological artefacts were found and where the artists sat to paint their pictures.
To achieve this we'd like help from the people who live, work and play in Derbyshire and the Peak District. People like you!
As we develop this project we'll need to draw on local knowledge, pilot our ideas with members of the public and use community networks to help spread the word.
If you'd like to get involved or want more information, find or follow us through our blog or on Facebook:

MacFisheries was most certainly a chain. And a fairly large one at that.

Wonderful! Thankyou for this. I'm only 46 but remember the cinema one or two shops similar. What a great place. Sad how the quality of people and the shops etc have fallen from grace!

In order to volunteer for 10+ hours a week, you need to be able to afford it.
This is the Universal Basic Income. Let’s give volunteers a guaranteed minimum income of $1,500ish USD/month.
So they can make our communities better.
