Did this job for 32 years before retiring from it. Lining a clutch up by eye is always a bit dodgy as if you are the slightest bit out, you'll struggle. Easiest way is if you know someone at a metalwork company, ask them to turn one down for you. Even easier way is use an old 1st motion/ primary shaft from an old gearbox of the same type. Over the years I made up a collection of a dozen of them.

Hi mate Proper work like me we love it Well I have to share this with you Had little iveco 10t for test checked over no day running lights which are also the side lights turns out it was the headlight at fault ,but you are advised to change both if one stops working the other one won't work& if you put one in &the other one has a fault it will destroy the new one £780.00 each what's wrong with a 20p bulb Have a great week end
Oh my god that’s crazy! How do you explain that to the customer...... side lamp fault mate just call the bill £2000 🤣 yeah as you said what was wrong with a normal bulb! To much technology in simple things nowadays. Enjoy the weekend pal
They do me old 🏍! And I’d advise any who hasn’t done one before to get one because it’s a sh*ter when you have to take the box out again because the plates in the wrong place lad🏍 💨
I once did a clutch where the starter fitted from the gearbox side, fwd car can't remember what it was. But it meant you could tighten the clutch cover AFTER the box was in position, made lining it up alot easier. Can you reach the pressure plate bolts through that big access hole on the Scania box ?
@@FromMetayou I know the old vauxhall novas had a cover on the bottom of the bell housing, you took the end cover off the gearbox allowing you to withdraw the input shaft. Do a clutch in 15min, without removing the box. The car I was thinking of was normal FWD set up , apart from the position of the starter motor, you could leave the clutch cover finger tight, mount the gearbox, and then tighten the clutch through the starter hole with an apprentice (me) turning the engine on the bottom puller to bring each clutch bolt into position. I want to say Meastro or Montego, but didn't they use VW gearboxes? .....
One of the places i worked used to cut the input shaft out of old boxes and use those to align the clutch up, and you’re right, it’s a total ball ache if you haven’t got them lined up 😂🤦♂️ even on cars they won’t go in it’s a f@cking nightmare pal 😂 top job btw 🤘🤣 And defo you just came up with the best explanation of being a mechanic pal- a professional struggler haha 😂 I’m using that one

Wow sod ro doing gear box & clutch
I’ve used a broom handle as a clutch lining up tool, wrap a load of tape around it so it’s a snug fit in the friction plate
It's a stroogle, a big stroogle but we love it when it's in 😂😂😂😂😂😂
chris professional struggler love it
😆 well we are dieselmick, thanks mate
What a funny happy Chavvy you really are. Keep on struggling mate.
The age old problem of lining up the box ! I hate rolling about on the floor , specially now I’m nearly 65 , it gets harder to get back up 😂😂👍🏻😞😞
If you can get your hands on a old gearbox input shaft and cut him in half you can use that as an alignment tool.
Super
Ive had those spring pin bushes which are threaded, snap in half, especially front right. ,😃
Just shows you they get some pressure on!
