Synopsis: Martin was there to be a friend to Katy, and she developed a crush on him which was not returned at the time. Eventually though, Martin began to return the affection. They kept it secret for awhile and talked Tyrone into pretending to be her boyfriend. When the secret finally came out, Tommy blew his stack and Katy left the house and moved in with Martin, which further fueled the family feud.

I'm a bit conflicted by these storylines cus it is very weird with katy being 17 and Martin being 39, but on the other hand they've done this before in an equally creepy situation between Martin and Gail (Gail was 26, Martin was 16 when they first met and she was his manager at a cafe she ran with her husband. They slept together two years later). If that is fine (when if he was under 16 when he started working there it'd be considered grooming) then I dont know why this receives so much flak. Do people really think the creepiness of a 20 year age gap far outshadows a 10 year one when in both scenarios the younger party was 16-17? I don't think there's much of a difference.
I'd argue this is the reason Martin considers it so normal.
That's exactly my stance on age gap relationships. It's two things
1. The younger person in the relationship,imo, should be older than 21. They need to have an education and live a teen/young adult life. Have a bit of life experience. Otherwise the older person can easily groom, manipulate and coerce them.
2. The older person should never be old enough to be your parent or worse grandparent! So anything more than 18 years is just weird to me.
Of course this is just my opinion as someone who has been in such relationship at 15 and again at 35. There is a massive difference.
Yeah, 100%. One thing I can give Martin some credit for is that several times throughout their relationship he realized that their age gap was a problem and the differences became apparent when she had people around partying/other conflicts they encountered.
People don't realize how manipulative Katy was in trying to keep Martin, it's also heavily implied she intentionally got pregnant in order to keep him. "How could you create a life to try and keep me and then destroy it when things dont go your way?".
She was extremely callous about the abortion too. Cared less about the child and moreso "What if i'm wrong and Martin won't want me anymore". There was something VERY wrong with Katy.@@babyboyz100
Martin was actually only 10 years younger than Gail as this was mentioned quite a few times in previous videos and Katy was 16 when Martin was 35.

Funnily enough, I’m actually diabetic now, but I wasn’t at the time- but would you believe my mum locked me in for seeing a guy in his early 40s when I was 20! Some parents are just this way & no one is good enough, they find their age the excuse, their job an excuse etc, there’s always some excuse! He’d find an excuse even if she wasn’t 16! I’m not saying he’s right, but there’s nothing much you can do when it isn’t against the law.

As if they could keep a 16 nearly 17 year old locked up in the house all day every day. It's not plausible or realistic. It's like something out of fullhouse or another cheesy American sitcom.
Tommy's character changed from a strict but fair family man to an overbearing bully who wore Katy down into a mental state so bad she was suicidal.

Martins face darkened when Tommy mentioned Sarah so even if they were in love he still knew it was wrong, I think Tommy could of handled it better but in all honesty I don't blame him on any of it, if that was Tommy with Sarah Martin would of caused murders and not had it but somehow expected Tommy and Angela to accept it cus 'they were in love' regardless, she was 16 and he was nearly 40, it was wrong full stop.
Even though the storyline was kind of icky Katy did actually look about 25 so you couldn’t really call Martin a kiddy fiddler!
