- This video analyzes the police behavior of Driver: Parallel Lines or, for short, DPL, a game released in 2006. It is the successor to Driv3r and the improvement version from the predecessor. To some extend.

Still one of my favourite games with such a fun police system.
Mine too. Everytime I play Driver PL I always remember when the cops says: ''Chase in Progress!'', ''We lost the suspect!'', ''Officer Down!'' and ''Reckless driving!'.
The police in this game were very good. I just wish they had SMGs for the SWAT.

The 1978 cops in their interceptors won't shoot players just so you can feel the original vehicular actions from the movies back in the days.
2006 is more of a gunplay-action oriented.
Makes sense. The 1970s counterpart focuses on old school car chases and gang shootouts and the 2006 counterpart consists of action and shootouts.
Driver parallel lines in my word book its the meaning of my beautiful childhood i miss this game and will love it forever. memoriiiies and childhood is great. The think i love most about the game is the era change. When i turned 6 years old i still played this beautiful game and i accidently restarted the game. I cried and begged to my brother to help me complete the era change because it was so cool to play in 2006. And the songs on the radio. Do we really have to talk about them, just perfect songs. I even used to sing them in my daycare. This game needs more attention.

Police AI in this is kinda better than in GTA because they do go after you when you drive too fast, run a light, drive recklessly, and drive in the wrong part of the road. In GTA, the cops don't care when you do those.
Imo it's not fun at all if the cops chase you for actually living. Can't have fun at all because the cops are on your tail all the time.
The part where they investigate a crime scene without going after you it's Unique I never saw that in any other game
But the police do not issue tickets but arrest directly. This is disgusting. The Mafia police will not do this. When encountering car collisions, vandalism, speeding, running red lights and other behaviors, they will issue tickets instead of directly arresting （Mafia is 2002 game)

Best thing about game is the past and present gameplay
there actually are swat officers that spawn in in the swat trucks but theres a glitch that can occur where only default cops spawn but the swat officers are just reskinned shotgun cops with different voice lines
This game has some revolutionary cops lol. Meanwhile in other games you can do all sorts of things and they don't care, but if you accidentally like breathe on a cop car then suddenly the entire force is after you.
saints row 2 is even better, saints 3 is.... a complete downgrade
Best thing about DPL cops is you can get them stuck in an infinite "must investigate" loop over a car that fell in the river... they'll keep jumping into the water

I still have this game on my PC. One of my favorite driver series.
Can you imagine how polished the A.I 'and increased limited patrol cars' can be in a hypothetical remaster?
Unlike Driv3r Police will Never to Reacts Actions By Enemy NPCs They Only Focus TK's Crimes

i went thru intersection on red and they started firing on my car :D i thought if i stop i will pay a fine like in Mafia, but not... stupid.

best thing to do in a Chase is use the Wrecker (tow Truck), once the police touches your rear, they got stuck and won't do anything until you release them
The police don't notice your firearm immediately.
Not sure if anyone else has said this, but entering alleyways when you're far away enough and no heli will also lose them. The police will drive by and you just have to wait for them to give up chase.

NFS Underground? No, Midtown madness and Midnight club have smarter AI. In NFS UG good, but not smart AI

What does window tinting do? Does it reduce/remove the recognition time when you're wanted (and the vehicle isn't)?

How did you get the Swats to come, mate?
Swats do not come in any way in the PC version.
They only come in Ps2 version. Wherever you are, if you kill a certain number of cops, the Swats are coming.
And Swats do not come with police models but with their own special character models.
You can also see the cops in different outfits in the Ps2 version.
I saw some flaws and shortcomings in the PC version.
EDIT: The Ps2 version is arguably the best...
There are mods that should fix that, there are also tip videos showing how to get them to spawn

The reason 2006 officers fire through their windows was probably made to increase the "gritty" feeling of the era.

I remember on the description of the tinted windows it says it helps you to don't let the cops see who is driving the car. I wonder if that is a Beta feature since pretty much is just a cosmetic thing the tinted windows
Actually that tinted windows work. If you have tinted windows, the cops will take longer time to recognize you.

Good video this game is very good and driv3r have much problems because is a unfinished game the reflections no have time to finish all and this is the reason why the game have much bugs and others problems but this reason don't kill the game the city is much beautiful the history is good and the extra content is good too is a good game but yes driver parallel lines is better.

Those vids will last over 30-40 minutes (because that's how long and detailed the Police A.I is) which is I am not particularly interested unless I keep it brief and short within 10 minutes.
