I don't believe that. Even if they were all 17 in September 1945, the year the war ended, they would all be 96 now in 2023. Most were older than 17 by the end of the war. It's more like they are 99 to 100. There can't be that many. I miss my dad. He was a real hero. ❤. He was born in 1926. He went to war in 1942. He was 16 and was just barely 20 when the war ended. He lied about his age and got in because he was a big boy from East Texas. The youngest soldier ever was 12 years old, and he was from East Texas, too. He was Calvin Graham, whose story is incredible. My father would be 99 in 2024. But he is gone. 😢I miss you, Daddy. ❤❤❤

I was born in 1951 in Berlin & I still saw a lot of destruction from the war as a kid. We lived in a small apartment that my mother had to heat with coal. I remember listening to an old radio in the evenings. No TV yet...lol
Lived in Berlin with my grandparents for a year with my Mom and sister until my father was stationed in Berlin 1959-60. I remember seeing bombed out buildings in this one spot on the way from the Bahnhof to my grandparents house for a few years. We'd visit them after my father was stationed elsewhere. Loved Mt grandparents house, 3 stories and they lived in the first floor. I remember the fireplace, coal also to heat water for the bathtub, shower( freezing in the winter) and staying in the living room with the door shut to conserve heat. Best part was sleeping in a bed with the German comforters! So warm❤ Finally didn't see any more bombed out buildings around 65? 67? My family didn't have a TV til 1964:) Can hardly wait to go back to visit and see the Siegelsalle and where the Berlin Wall once stood( saw this quite often when visiting my grandparents)

The music used was created for an American movie made by actor Tom Hanks, "Saving Private Ryan". He produced the television movie, The Pacific, which was about the US battles in the pacific. It was played during that movie. The mood established by the orchestra, the strings and the horns and the beating of the drums, was effective for movie and the scenes in the European theater of war. Honestly these type of videos have been my favorite lately. I mean …..WOW. It’s like literally traveling back in time. Seeing a piece of history in a before and after. Knowing there is so much history in the present future of how dark our past world was when hitler took over Europe. All the sacrifices that our past military generations fought for that most take for granted now a days. Where so much pain and suffering was the norm but is now a peaceful place. Also the song from band of brothers makes it just so emotional. I served 7 years in the army as infantry.
