As a native Kansan I always go into watching covers of this song with crossed fingers and one eye shut. I should have known better with VoicePlay. Eli is the Rock God. They just killed this one! Let's face it--they haven't done a bad one ever. I think we need to recognize their hidden member. Ed Boyer does all their mixing and he's a genius.
If you ever see J None as “featured” it’s either from before or after he was an official member of the group. Omar was in the middle here and has been featured in a few other VP videos.
Love watching your reaction to Voiceplay! You really can't go wrong with any of their covers. Queen in 5 minuets is another one I think you'll enjoy.

Been loving watching your journey into Voiceplay! Dude, for real though, you -need- to hear Queen in 5 Minutes from them. Freddie would have been cheering them on, it is the perfect showcase of their talents, and the video itself is so incredibly creative! And just to forewarn you, every time you do a VP reaction that isn't Queen in 5 Minutes, I'm gonna ask you to do it until I see the upload :D it is just that worth it, I promise!

I've always stated that my favourite VP is their latest and in between I fall back on Carry On. Nowadays it's hot a rival in Seven Nations Army.
Another good one is We're Good, though that has a different vibe.
When I first ran into Voiceplay (head on collision) I watched all their recent releases then went to their channel and selected Oldest in in the videos. They are always getting better and better but the older videos were amazing as well. Just never a disappointment in any of them. The variety is astonishing.
Had to ask my hubby cuz the title sounded familiar. "Kansas" , saw 'em in Seattle 😎😂

I often watch these multiple times in a row trying to focus on one of them at a time. I’m not musically trained so it’s not quite as easy for me. But I am a patron and one of the perks is that we get to listen to the karaoke track. That really helps me because I don’t get distracted by the lead. And when I go back and listen after really absorbing the karaoke track it is a much fuller experience. I know that those of you with musical training are able to perceive a lot of things that I missed the first dozen times. But that karaoke track really helps me feel like I’m maybe starting to get what you are hearing.
Thanks for a great reaction it’s always a pleasure to see a musician reacting to them. (And those swells are always one of my favorite parts. I sometimes find myself holding my breath waiting to see what they’re going to do.)
I quickly glanced through your videos but couldn’t find the two recent ones by Geoff on his personal channel. In I See Fire, from the second hobbit movie d Desolation of Smaug, he once again plays the four dwarves, Bofur, Fili , Kili and Thorin Oakenshield as he did a few years back in Misty Mountains from the first movie.
Misty Mountains is still one of my favorites because it is so beautiful, but in the new one each of the dwarves gets to sing and each of them has their own range.
In his most recent Folsom Prison Blues, he spent quite a bit of time in baritone territory.
VoicePlay recently released Drunken Sailor, which is an absolute riot. They asked Jose Rosario Jr back (he appeared in their first seafaring piece: Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3). There is a section where Geoff goes super low. Those who know these things said that he was singing the lyrics in subharmonics, not merely singing a single note. As always be sure to wait until the patron roll starts because they frequently will add a little epilogue or Easter eggs.

They are just the best.... I have to watch five times and concentrate on each member to try to get the individual parts. Then a couple more times to get the mix. Their newest one, Drunken Sailor , is amazing and funny as all get out. And never stop before the patron list rolls, you just might miss something!

Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. Please do a reaction video to Voice Plays " Queen In 5 Minutes " it is a medley of Queen songs & you will absolutely love it. They love to tell a story with their songs is this is one of their best. Also please do a reaction video to Geoff Castallucci newest solo cover " Folsom Prison Blues " originally by Johnny Cash. In my opinion Geoff does it better than Johnny. Jeff rented out an entire prison to make this video. His wife Kathy was his only crew. Just the two of them amazing as always.
Sorry Omar was not in Valhalla Calling; He was in Dream On, This is another one to give you goosebumps with it's harmonies. Some of the effects are done in the final mix of course but most of it is in the arrangement. Love your reaction. :)

Sfortzando...sudden strong emphasis on a note
This is one of their songs that ruins the original for me. I need Eli's high belt and the bass drops now in the song and when I hear the original I'm just disappointed
Just wait until you hear the version of Valhalla Calling by Miracle of Sound feat. Peyton Parrish & Eric Hollaway. Mr. Hollaway's voice (speaking and singing) puts all those you mentioned (Bass Gang, etc.) to shame.
Miracle Of Sound messaged Voice Play and said well done lads , it is the most creative arrangements he ever heard. He gave Voice Play 10 alehorns out of 10. Now that's one of the highest compliments a group could get.
