On Feb. 1st I had a STEMI heart attack. I've watched these videos for quite some time and I am absolutely amazed at the difference in care here in the States compared to St. George's. The doctors and nurses on that side of the pond are saints. Here, you're treated like a nuisance, at least where I was admitted.

That is so sad, you deserve too be treated with kindness and respect. I mean without patients they wouldn't have jobs. I'm sorry you were treated so poorly.

In defense of US hospitals, the hospital in my area has an excellent, kind, thorough staff. If you are not treated well, speak up . Contact the the Board if Directors, the hospital Administrator, everyone you can think of. Have other people complain also. Everyone deserves good medical care .

Here in America there is such a nursing shortage. I went in for scheduled major back surgery. I was up walking a few hours after surgery. However, to have a Nurse visit unless I rang the bell and waited; sometimes up to a half hour was unheard of. I do have insurance and upon receiving just the hospital bill (not the Neurosurgeon, the Thoracic Surgeon, Anesthesiologist’s bills) what it cost to just walk in the hospital I about passed out!! The cost…$60,000!! Our Healthcare system is horrible and needs to be fixed!!

I had a NSTEMI on Dec 4th 2022 & while they were doing tests for that found that I have stage 4 rectal cancer (which has now spread to my liver & both lungs) then on Aug 4th 2023 I had a stroke...I get taken to the ER at least once a month by ambulance for my serious nausea, extreme vomiting & my out of control pain levels & extremely high troponin levels (happens when you have NSTEMI heart attacks) only to be pushed right back out the door after receiving 1 bag of saline fluid for dehydration & 1 shot for my pain & THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN TESTS THEY DO....The Dr's & health care here in the states is all about GREED & PROFITS now which is very sad because people are suffering & dying because of it....

I just had a angioplasty done and I thought they were going to put in a couple of stents in my arteries because of being a type one diabetic for 53 years they said my veins weren’t strong enough to have the stents in them, so now I’m going in for heart bypass surgery and I’m scared. as of June 2/21 I no longer have my husband as he suddenly passed away and he was my rock my strength. This is the biggest operation that I’ve ever had and I am scared. I have my two adult sons, but it’s not the same as having your partner, your mate, the love of your life by your side.
When I see scenes between husbands and wives on the show, it really affects me because I no longer have it. I am happy that these couples still have it. When you don’t have your hubby, you feel quite alone in this big world.

The paraglider was so lucky to have those serve injuries to be able to walk again. How incredible are those surgeons to put him back to gather again. The paramedics and doctors getting him to the hospital. The doctors and nurses in ED to stabilise him and figure out his extant of his injuries. What a team they all are.

I lost my my beautiful best friend Meredith to the same cancer in 1997 aged just 34: leaving 2 little girls. I truly never thought that the cancer could ever take her, she was so strong, vibrant, hysterically funny, strong willed, sassy and gorgeous. We had been on this trip together, chemo (eventually into her spine), a failed bone marrow transplant and a miracle pregnancy after all of that chemo. I was suffering from migraines due to stress and she was so worried about me, and felt bad that her health was affecting me, the beautiful soul. The most loyal, loving, honest and giving friend that I could ever have, and I miss her every day of my life still. We were all cheated by her being taken from us, none more than her girls, the youngest of whom was only 2 and doesn’t remember her mum and how much her mum adored her. Her older daughter was 13, and is a mum now, with a lovely son and 2 very sassy little girls of her own. Oh how Merri would have loved those children, and I wish that they could have experienced her for themselves, but I know that she sees them and they talk about her, as does my entire family as she was so loved. I had 2 stillborn babies after Merri died, my daughter is Ashley Meredith and I know she will be caring for them for me until I get there. Oh my darling girl, you are still so loved and missed. I could never have had a better friend in my life and am so grateful that you were and will always be a part of me. My best wishes to the lovely Irish boys, friendship is such a blessing.

I worked for 45 years as a registered nurse in the US. 30 years of my career in the Emergency Department. In the beginning 95% of our patients were grateful and appreciative of the care they received. In the last 10 years interactions with patients and their families became extremely frustrating for all of us delivering care. People became so rude and demanding and threatening. Verbally and physically. Rarely did I hear “thank you”. And to be honest, it wasn’t every patient, but definitely the majority.
However, I loved my career and am grateful that I was in a position to help those who needed it even if they didn’t recognize it at the time. It’s a very difficult career, emotionally, mentally and physically.

Thank you so so very much for being there, providing your knowledge and care to patients and their families. I too truly feel that people working in the medical/healthcare field are absolutely angelic. I unfortunately have become very much acquainted to the healthcare system in Canada. I have spent a good part of the past three years in hospitals and I must say nurses are absolute warriors. Hospitals simply couldn’t run without nurses !!! So Thank You for all that you’ve given of yourself. 💜💜💜

I am a cancer survivor and one thing that helped me during treatment was to focus on how fortunate I was to have skilled and compassionate providers caring for me. I cannot fathom being unappreciative and ungrateful, much less rude. I hope you can focus on the good memories and just let go of the rest. God bless you.

I have to say that refusing to take a call just because you don't recognise the number is absolute insanity. I have heard of other people with this attitude too ... people who have family, possibly children or friends, any of whom might be desperate to contact them using a borrowed phone because, for whatever the reason, their own is not working and some kind person has said, "here, use mine." Or, as in the case of our injured paraglider, it could be any emergency service needing to contact you urgently. Declining a call just because you don't recognise the number is not very smart. This unthinking mindset nearly cost Wendy the chance to be with her husband when he most needed her.
