@@AMARJEETKUMAR-db8vc my understanding was that even dying in something like a crash or drowning could be martyrdom and that islamic martyrdom does carry the same full pardon the pope offered crusaders (straight to heaven for sure when there's no Jesus saving you from sin is pretty big). But both that and the 72 virgins for martyrs are derived mostly from the hadith.
I gotta say when I believed this life was just a test and that being cut short would just be God's favor and I could go full hedonism mode indefinitely in the afterlife I really didn't fear death but I was missing out on a lot of life and pretty isolated socially.

This is exactly the same system they use to teach Islam in Islamic countries's public schools.
In my country teaching islam is mandatory in public schools, from primary school to high school (they usually allot one hour per week for what they call "Islamic science").
I attended a public school so I went through all of that, and after leaving Islam it became really clear how this sect works.
When in primary school the teacher will ONLY talk about the "good sides" of Islam (if you can call that good sides), he'll talk about how Mohammed was a forgiving person, how Mohammed treated well his ennemies, how Mohammed ended black slavery in the Arabic peninsula, how Islam teaches you to love your mother more than anyone else (except Allah), how doing good deeds is ... good (Thanks captain Mohammed obvious!).
Basically in primary school it's all about that "sweetness" (but we were also taught about Hell of course and how Christians and Jews are bad and stuff like that)
And then when you get to middle school things start to change a little bit, I think the biggest change was that most Science Islamic teachers would not allow boy and girls to sit together in class (middle school here is from 10 years old), and by doing that they are already trying to push that idea into kids that girls and boy should be treated differently and that there is a kind of "barrier" from a religious stand point between girls and boys, and that the two mustn't be friends and hang out together and stuff like that.
In middle school they'll also go more into the "behavior" teaching part of Islam, how you should behave if you are a real Muslim, how you shouldn't behave, so the brainwashing process kind of really starts from middle school when I think about it.
And then there is the glory high school period, a.k.a the pinnacle of the brainwashing, in high school they taught us about Sharia laws, how you should cut a thief's hand, how you should stone or whip people who have sex outside marriage, how girls should refrain from interacting with boys who aren't from their families, I think it's really at that time that I started questioning this sect.

Islam is what everyone was taught by Mohammed or the voice in his head (which he spoke about and the initial experience is described in the Hadith, I think it is Sahih Bukhari (?).
It is okay for a Muslim or anyone else to disagree with a text. It doesn't make sense to assume it must be from God & not out that claim to the test.
Nor to assume that God would be so immensely evil, petty & corrupt as to punish people for seeking truth and using the very brain they were given.
God would know that his/her existance isn't certain, nor is the belief that God both gave a religion and which one it would be!

I saw a video a couple of years ago that I cannot find any more where Muslim authorities in the US were lamenting the fact that 75% of converts to Islam leave it after a couple of years once they find out what it really teaches and who Muhammad really was. That was very enlightening. They don't tell people things like that up front. And also there was a news item a few months ago that 23% of US Muslims have left Islam. There is good news and hope.

That is not true. Christianity tells us to praise god with our actions, keep on drinking his blood and eating his flesh (bread and wine). He tells us to appriciate what god has given us. it also tells us to transform the earth in to the kingdom of god wich practises these views of the world. Christinity celebrates death in order to embrace life. The whole Christian idea comes from the times people began to think of apocaliptic endings. They thaught: this world will end one day, we should look out for what is good and welcoming. It is essentially nihilism that leads to optimism. Exactly what Nietzsche did btw.

@Zack Smith As I see, 4:34 and 4:35 is two visions of the same fight. In 4:34, if you are her husband, you shall punish her, and if necessary striker her up. In 4:35 tells that if you are a 3rd person, you shall not intervene by defending her or discussing with him. You shall send two arbitrators to seek peace. So, 4:35 doesn't diminish the paper of the husband to beat her wife, only that you as a 3rd party, if worried, should try to reconciliate them by calling both family together. Don't be angry with me, be angry with yours scholars translation. Of course, there is commentary of "and them beat (lightly)". But it is a commentary, not the word of Allah, so I dismiss this kind of adding to the holy words. Second, telling the husband to beat and telling that you as a friend should try to counsel each other it is not contradictory. It is just different roles of the same discussion. So, again, I can tell that the Quran does not contradict when it says to the husband to beat and the friend to arbitrate. Nonetheless, you didn't answer those Hadith comments which Zack cash made. Explain them for me, please

Growing up in an Arab muslim country, I had many questions about Islam which were never answered. I remember asking the mosque’s imam, my parents and teachers questions such as why do we have to pray since allah doesn’t need it? They always got mad at me for such questions despite the fact i was literally not even in elementary school yet..
When I got a little older and started slowly learning more in school, I thought islam was peaceful so I decided I’d read Quran with its explanation as well as hadiths from sahih al bukhari and muslim. When I read each verse in the Quran with it’s explanation it all seemed wrong, not only the questionable decisions and situations of allah and muhhamad but also the fact many things are scientifically wrong. I thought I should read the Hadith since they’re supposedly connected and maybe I’ll find the answers there. However once I started reading Hadith it just kept getting worse.. many scientific mistakes such as the mistake that when the sun sets it goes to pray to allah and it only rises when allah gives it the permission to.. not only that but also the insane sexism, misogyny, racism and etc..

@Born at 33 Just because there are lessons to be learned from the bible does not mean that it should be accepted as the word of a God nor should its many rediculous supernatural claims be accepted as truth just because they're in a text where some guy was said to have taught some good things. There are many contradictions and absurdities in the bible because it is man made, written by people who had the understanding of their time. You can find the teachings helpful without believing Jesus is the son of himself or that it is the only legitamate religion. Study religion with an anthropological approach and things will become more clear.

If God is real, then we should reckon with Him. Reason tells us that God is real (there must be a Creator), and revelation tells us that God will deliver justice and hold people accountable for their wrong actions.
You can disagree with Muslims without wanting to kill them, and vice versa. Only extremists (like ISIS, hindutva, nazis, and Buddhist nationals, etc) think that people who disagree cannot live together.

You can NOT criticize the prophet if you are a Muslim and what I was saying is that I sometimes explain to my Muslim friends and family that it is ok the be critical. I tell them that I would take it as a test put on earth by God to see if people used their brains or not...that it could be a test. Same for Christians. You can still believe in Islam and Jannah and be able to criticize some haddiths or be a christian and still criticize the old testament and slavery in the bible. What is important is to be true to yourself and live a good life with others
Le Med Student In Catholicism it is ok to ask questions, in effect to criticize if by that you are only trying to understand and not be a smart aleck. If in Islam it is not allowed to even criticize in the sense of trying to fully understand the teachings, to see if there is an inconsistency, etc. then Islam can't be a true religion.
If Allah is a loving God and not a dictator, then you ought to be able to ask questions and criticize what He supposedly said. As a Catholic I do this all the time. I ask Jesus why He said this or that, and what does it mean, and why He said it, etc. He always answers because He is a good God, like a good parent or teacher. Jesus delights in us when we try to understand His teachings unlike the dictator Allah who will get angry if you do this. This is one of the reasons why I think Islam is false.

Same thing with liking hats is neither true or false. You can says it is true that I like hats if you are asking for a statement of facts but liking something in itself can not be true or false. That does not make Santaism true, it just means a Santaist believes in something that does not exist.
Also I am curious, you mention you ask Jesus...does he respond to you? (I m not trying to be a smart ass I m trying to understand) Do you have conversations or do you interpret the world around you to be answers to your questions i.e Should I go into medicine and then seeing a movie about doctors for example, by chance, being a sign, is that how Jesus communicates? The reason I ask is that it is important to be aware of what signs of schizophrenia are, and again I am not trying to be an ass just wanting to make sure you realize that people who have conversations with imaginary people are schizophrenic (I m not saying Jesus is imaginary, I only want you to realize that there is a fine line between reality and delusions)
Also remember that Allah, Jehovah and the Christian God are the same. All three religions talk to god and pray to God in their own particular way.

@MIDKNIGHT FENERIR Well it's a bit of a task to convince any religious person of atheism straight up, but just pushing pure rationality instead is a lot easier and is a lot harder for them to argue against.
Like constantly asking them exactly how they 'know' that what they believe is true, because ultimately it will come down to them trusting what is written in a book or what someone told them.
Which just isn't reason enough to believe such important things without objective evidence.
Then when you ask them to point to anything in real life that convinces them beyond the word of others, it will ultimately come down to 'they feel it in their heart', which of course is a pretty flimsy reason for swallowing an entire religion whole.
And if they try and rationalise it all by saying that something has to explain why everything exists, ask them why it requires a supernatural being to do that.
None of this is likely to make them crumble on the spot, but it certainly faces them with questions that they probably haven't asked themselves, and the seed of that Socratic doubt cannot be unplanted.
Specifically with Islam though, we need to know enough about it to use rationality against it.
To confront them with its horrible goals of imposing religious discrimination against non Muslims, its obvious fabrication and militarisation of it by Mohammad and its encouragement of horrible things like slavery and punishment of people wishing to leave it.
So unless they block their ears, run away or fly into an emotional rage, noone can rationally condone those things.
Then we can squeeze in somewhere how free we feel without the huge imaginary burden of supernatural beings judging us and punishing us after we die, and how our lives become a lot nicer to live.
But in some ways I think it is sometimes easier to cause doubt about Islam because I think that many Muslims always slightly doubt it anyway, and explains why Islam demands non questioning so much and why it is so overly sensitive and insecure about any rational criticism of it by anyone at all.

Beyond that, you also gave me ideas for pranks I could pull on Muslims, who take their Religion way too serious, here is my best idea so far:
1. Take a bottle of Zamzam water with all the authentic markings, which would convince all Muslims that the stuff legit.
2. Give the Zamzam to your Dog or Pigs or, if you don't have any of those, your local Jew to drink.
3. Refill the bottle with the strongest Vodka you can find!
4. Dress up like a Salafist, go to the next mosque and offer all the adults to take a shot (preferably while a bro is filming it all from a safe distance)
5. RUN!!!!!!!!! Unless they actually believe it is legit Zamzam water and the "exhilarating" effect is normal for holy water. Then, maybe offer them a couple shots more!
I defy the community to come up with more pranks, though I can't advise anyone to actually do that!

The weird thing is it does them no good because unlike Hebrew, Greek and Latin that have lots of written examples of their style and structure in the era of Christ Islam doesn't. The Koran is the first book written in Arabic. Even if u had the original text (were their one) you would be very hard pressed to divine the original meaning. I can go on line and find the methodology behind every major translation of the bible. Unless I'm missing something none of the five companion texts of the Koran explain why or how they have come to believe "x" means something and not something else. I have tried and tried to cut the whole Islam thing slack and I have finally come to the conclusion that a super intelligent alien who knew nothing about religion would die from laughter after reading the Koran........
