I have never been more impacted by a horse race in my life!!! I’m super amazed and mind blown, I can’t stop watching this. I’m so happy for Rich Strike, the rider and the family! They deserve it. Thank god for that horse dropping out!
2nd to only watching Secretariat at Belmont stakes. That felt as much twilight zone as this race.

I don't even watch horse racing or follow the Kentucky Derby but my friend went to the Kentucky Derby this year with her boyfriend so I decided to look up the results. I can't stop watching the replay of RICH STRIKE striking rich and winning the 2022 Kentucky Derby. What a COMEBACK STORY!! Congrats to Sonny Leon (the Jockey) and his team!! WOW. I'm so happy :)

No. He's a horse for a course. Only 2 wins have been at Churchill. Got beat like 15 lengths by this Epicenter on another dirt track. That's why he was 80-1. They started avoiding dirt tracks. Ran him on all weather surfaces (synthetic.) They knew he had a chance on Churchill dirt. Threw everybody off by avoiding dirt.

How super he was able to catch up with the others so quickly. The biting and the need for rest, though, show it took a lot out of him. The horse with the mask. Already legend.
What a story indeed. Rich Strike's win in the derby made all of us proud. A horse with a connection to so many people and places. Im also very happy for his sire Keen Ice. And his Manitoba Canada bred dam Gold Strike. Who was champion 3 year old filly in Canada back in 2005. Champions and Winners Run in Rich Strike's blood.
I blindly place a $100 on rich strike and I got $8000 for the win . Didn't even had a clue about the race lol

A great win. Mine That Bird won from behind in 2009 by 7 lengths. Borel just blew them away at 50 to 1.

Not very often you see the winning jockey in the Kentucky Derby covered in dirt.
This is going to be a Great movie.
It is a great story you will have some cynical statements by some but I don't know perhaps they are just that way or the bet alot & lost,agree will make a great movie.
When he altered course from the rail to avoid crashing into one of the leaders that's when it was clear he would win.
For one thing, RS's trainer saw right away he wasn't a turf horse. On the long run, this could have saved the horse's life too. Now, he is a star. Horse and trainer, but mostly, the horse.
Horse, trainer AND rider🤩...I know the trainer ..not just know "of" him...I pulled for him totally!...my kids' dad was a Veterinarian and used to treat his horses..(my kids'dad died 11 yrs ago)... he's a good guy!!...that race was SO amazing 🤩🤩🤩🤩

In roulette, if you put a chip on any given number that wins, you’re paid 35-1. This horse was 80-1. The jockey, with over 5000 mounts, has one victory in a stakes grade race until now. The stars were aligned for this!

What I appreciated about this jockey was that he didn't beat his horse to death. He did carry and lightly use a crop, but I didn't feel that the horse was abused just to get across the finish line first. A little urging was used, but reasonable. Really good ride on a really good horse! Wow!
Sunny leone had the idea to deal with a stayer.
He runs a lot of juvenile races, with thoroughbred horses trying learn racing. This was a rare shot at the Big Time for Leon. He made good!

50:1 Mine That Bird won May 2, 2009. He came from last place to first place on the last turn and he didn’t barely win, he won with no other horse around him. I love long shots.

yes! the MOST EXCITING 2 minutes in Sports!!! You can feel the electricity in the air from the stands and the crowd too. Not as big as NASCAR, but that takes over 2 hours... all that packed into 2 minutes and a $ 3 million purse to the top 5 finishers. (1.86 mil to the winner)

He was in the travel trailer on the road when they got the phone call. They were headed up to Saratoga to enter him in the weekend races. None of this was even supposed to happen. Unless, of course, ALL OF IT was supposed to happen!

As you watch Rich Strike coming down the homestretch, he appears to be wanting to nip at some of the nearby horses there too. He keeps looking off to the right. Fiesty.

Single A Minor League. He easily won (by a lot) last September on this track. That race was still thought to be not good enough to compete with these. Ignoring horses for courses will get you cut. I didn't even look at the horse, because he hadn't run any races that would be fast enough. He hadn't had a chance to compete against them at this 1 1/4 distance, though. He looked like Zenyatta at the Breeders Cup (at Santa Anita.) This horse was looking right at the leaders.
