A reminder in football history, thank you for this. I had to get used to the Scottish English that the reporter speaks, and hearing the names of the Werder players this way was very unusual.
Having been promoted again to Bundesliga in 1981, Bremen played a very good season 1981/82 and advanced to UEFA Cup 1982/83. They ended the sason on rank 2 on par with Hamburger SV; both teams had 52-16 points after 34 matches, but Hamburg became champions on goal difference.
I actually don't know how far Bremen advanced in that season's UEFA Cup. Seeing the scenes, I couldn't believe how Rudi Völler wasted two certain goals! This would not have happened to a more experienced Völler.
