How is the ground of the alternator connected? Via the mounting bolts and brackets? The alternator on my '64 MGB has three wires connected. I assume this has been done by a previous owner. I haven't checked yet what each of these wires does.

When you’re starting a with a car that originally had a generator, the wiring colors are different. on this one we were just going from a five wire alternator to a three wire one. If you want to know how to wire that alternator into the Mga, you can go to the Moss Motors website and look at the instructions for the alternator conversion kit they sell. There’s a bit more to that one than just getting the wire colors right, you also have to rewire or change out the regulator with the dummy one

Nope, your not. While it is a 3 wire alternator, you only need to hook up 2 for it to work correctly
