Bro, Puyol is not bad, he's one of the best defenders in the game. You need to do just one thing, don't try to pass the ball until your defenders get possession. If you do that, players become slow and strikers overtake. Keep pressing, get the ball, then pass.
I used to do the same thing, thus I conceded goals. Just keep pressing, unless you're too sure you're getting the ball, before passing

Why Puyol is coming out of position because I think you're using a manager that has Defensive style- frontline pressure so the destroyer CB's come out from their place to take/win the ball that's y and same reason u can't stop long balls because of frontline pressure. Use a manager that has Defensive style- All-out-defence then you'll see the difference💯🔝
