Absolutely and I’m ashamed because I’ve only discovered this song tonight after watching The Killer on Netflix. I’m 57 and I’ve never heard it before!! Absolutely epitomises my past ~ tearful ~ Thank you to The Smiths for transporting me back to a MUCH BETTER TIME!!
@@jamescauser6297 It's never too late. I wish I could hear it again for the first time though in all honesty, it sends shivers down my spine now the same way it did when I first heard it back in 1985, which is quite amazing.
@@Gonzax I’m surprised I missed this song as I was into the Cure, simple minds, new order, James and I did like the Smiths mainstream stuff such as The Boy With a thorn in his side and Charming Man. I’ve never heard this song on the radio and I have that on all day! Anyway, I’m really enjoying it as if it was released yesterday 😂
Quelle bonne idée de superposer cette chanson mélancolique des Smiths sur ces images d'"Ascenseur pour l'échafaud", qui est tout entier imprégné de la trompette de Miles Davis à l'origine...On redécouvre complètement les images.
The film is 'Lift to the Scaffold' (UK title) and its Jeanne Moreau - here playing - she believes in the fiction - a jilted lover in Paris in the rain- Morrissey and Mar would approve I'm sure.
The heroes of the movie represent those who would fight tyranny. The children getting in the way are the dumbed down youth preventing them from crushing Pike's Will.
The film is Louis Malle's 1958 Elevator to the Gallows, or Lift to the Scaffold (UK title) starring Jeanne Moreau (seen here). Believing that she's been jilted by her illicit lover, she wanders Paris aimlessly and forlorn 'til dawn. Original soundtrack by Miles Davis.
She seems not only to be broken over her missing love... it's almost like she is also pained over being able to tell that all the beauty of this place is in the process of being devoured. That lively place she walks among will soon know tyranny.
One of the most beauitiful incredible songs in the history of popular music.
Yes it is
The Man In Me. Dylan drops the mic with the first 2 lyrics

Gasping. Dying! But, somehow still alive...

Another aching classic will there ever be another band who could shine the shoes of The Smiths 😢

Beautiful girl. Great cinematography.
Just found this after almost 40 years why are the birds singing at night, it's one of the best smiths composition's.
Such a beautiful song !
Uma linda música para ilustrar a solidão!!! Cenas que mostram a beleza da solidão urbana. Uma pena que envelhecemos.

there is a pact between Morrissey and Mars to never play this song live so as not to ruin its perfection on this recording.
