Southall Market on High Street sells produce, spices, jewellery, and antiques while eateries along The Broadway offer samosas, dosas, and sweets like jelabis. Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha is one of the largest Sikh temples outside India.

50 years ago they did a documentary asking local Southall residents about immigration and back then the area was largely still English Anglo Saxon. The residents generally were concerned about the levels of non whites coming in. Now we see they were ignored and the area is completely colonised by Arabs, blacks and Indians.

I remember Southall from the 1960s…England has changed a lot since then and the Asians living here have multiplied over and over and as the British stores moved out there was room for Asian businesses to rise and expand.It is the same all over Britain…Bradford is effectively Mirpuris own!
