Kardavox Academy I know this song isn't metal but it is rock but it deserves your attention it is Seether: Drift Away but the lyric video by The Writer Wolf. It has had a huge impact on my life because it reminds me of my very mentally and physically abusive ex I would love if you did a reaction to it because I would love to see your reaction to it please.

I absolutely loved this cover, I've wanted someone to add vocals to BFG Division ever since it came out and never thought Alex would be the one to do it! He totally nailed it.
Maybe somewhere Alex's vocals are good, but this track is ruined, it doesn't need any vocals at all:/

One of the best covers by Alex Terrible.
It's pretty fun!
its the best cover

This is in my top 5 alex terrible songs. That list includes slaughter to prevail songs.
My favourite Alex Terrible cover is the old Alex, not the new one. Recent Alex is weaker compared to the Alex 5-9 years ago, just check the Wait and Bleed cover he did, People=Shit, Numb, those lows were insane and iconic
This is the reaction I was waiting for!
That was cool to mention Austin Dickey. He's some awesome sounds. I love him and Jared Dines

I loved hearing the small shout to Austin dickey! He's amazing and you should do a reaction to one of his bands songs some day!
He's just unbelievable. Like I'm speechless. Deeper than deep. Not from the world. 🔥
I think demilich has a lower voice. i'm not shure if it really is or does it just seem lower than it is. (Here is a link for one of demilich'es songs on CZcams if your interested czcams.com/video/XxizB02d0gE/video.html)

Ive been following him for over a decade now. The guy has always had mad impressive lows but what hes capable of now is almost inhuman. Especially when you remember what his human form sounded like before he ascended
cant forget, alex has a voice that can outshine the drummer in a tiny room. mans a monster with his projection.
Greetings, my friend! I'm from Russia and I managed to work out with Alex vocals at the time. there is one feature in the use of arytenoid cartilage. He lowers his larynx, lifts his tongue and to a greater extent blows his sound through tightly closed arytenoid cartilages, preventing false ligaments from vibrating as we are used to with a normal folcord. On my little video where I sing, you can see it! czcams.com/video/t3xlqVfYP3g/video.html
Dude your vocals are amazing. Alex Terrible is insane. I have tickets to see Slaughter to Prevail live next month in April. I'm so stoked I can't even believe it....!
i completely agree with you on the subject of Alex's highs. Dude can sound like Mitch Luker if he wanted to with those highs. Shocked me for days after hearing Alex being able to hit those high screams. For sure he focuses more on those beefy deep screams as that's his specialty but like damn...i'd love to hear a track with more use of those highs he has stored away.
BFG DIVISION with Alex terrible's vocals is the best birthday present ever thank you Alex terrible
i was first introduced to Slaughter to Prevail and Alex with Kostolom, and so when i went back to listen to their older material, hearing Alex's highs REALLY caught me off guard because, as you mentioned, they're INSANELY high and crispy and i didn't expect it at all LMAO
Alex is a great vocalist!
I was introduced to them and deathcore in general by their song called "Chronic Slaughter" i remember being shocked to see someone doing a vocal like that while i was into Godsmack and 5FDP lol
If you really want to hear his range, do his new cover of infant annihilator. It's incredible
I'll check it out!
12:21 Best description of Alex's voice I've ever heard
Missed an opportunity “I’m not in his body, although I’d like to be”
I'm glad you noticed that gutteral on the trail end of that second "No" segment of the.. chorus I guess? Another moment I was happy you picked up on were the layered highs. I've been watching Alex since those vocal covers of Suicide Silence way back when and those highs have been long since neglected, glad they showed *some* light in this one. Cheers!
This has always been such a great song and I’ve always wanted heavy vocals on it. I love that he did this.
Nathan Explosion XD
Great and fitting reference.
Did i just hear you've got amon amarth in the works? Im so excited I've been waiting for this moment

Been looking forward to this, this vocal cover is so sick, great to see your take (I'm not a vocalist but so interesting regardless).
I love how do you explain all that's little tricks
I'm glad it's helpful!
I am sure it's all performance, the whole demon cover and making it over dramatic when he does vocals, it looks badass.
Ive been following him for over a decade. Hes always had these mannerisms when he does vocals even when he was sitting in his bedroom using google translate to talk to us english speaking fans and i was in junior high 🤣 i dont even think its performance, im sure part of it is but hes always been very pronounced, its like he uses his entire upper half to belt out these insane lows because its Especially noticeable with the lows (: but hey, maybe hes just a natural showman 🤷♂️
This song is on repeat when I'm working out...and....other stuff too
The part about showmanship reminded me of those vines of girls laughing while expressionless. 🤣🤣🤣
SOOO MUCH YES!!! 🔥🤘😈🤘🔥

I want to know how Alex does that squeezing vocal break sound. He does that in his songs too.

Loved the video dude. This game however just looks like a revamped Quake game
I heard it a bunch of times and now that I hear it again after a break I get duck skin again it's an unbelievable song
Shout out to Austin Dickey
This cover is incredible and I love your breakdowns, BUT HOW do you stay focused to pick up on the details, I get caught up and vibe out until you pause to breakdown and it’s like a whole new world😂
Haha, it can be very hard sometimes, but I guess it helps that it's my job!
Guys, this dude's neighbours 😂 poor souls, I wonder what they think in this situations
Fuck that came in heavy. Awesome job on Alex’s part.
06:20 I think he is basically using Som Pluijmers technique. She explained a few years back her super lows to touch your upper teeth from the inside with the tip of your tongue. That's what u explain as "roll his tongue back".
The only man capable of doing an awesome Mick Gordon cover!
Doom to prevail 🔥🔥🔥
Just say . Alex is Legend & everything he does is GOLD.
I was waiting for this. I'm surprised it took a patreon suggestion to check it out though. I would have expected you to see that Mr Terrible did a vocal cover and jump on to see what kind of maddness he got up to. You might have been late to the party but at least you showed up. Still probably the best breakdown on how he make the demon noises though so I guess it's like saving the best for last.
Thanks for watching!

I’m excited for this one!
You gotta do this with Alex's newest DOOM cover he released today!!

Someone tell me if I’m crazy, but I was listening to Amon Amarth recently, and I noticed some similarities between Alex’s vocals and those on “Twilight of the Thunder God” around 2:25.
Big biiiig fan of AA and Alex. I see what you are saying but I think they are born from 2 different places. Johan is serious "stomach" in his low tones mostly from his natural speaking voice. Vs Alex where it seems more "chest" but inhumanely low and powerful. I dont think Johan messes with as many shapes in his mouth as Alex and I feel that's due to longevity of use.
Actually what you are seeing is the use of the diaphragm , it's in-between the stomach and the chest
@@Phil.Anthropy As a vocalist myself (mostly learned from this channel), I'm not sure what you mean about the difference between "stomach" and "chest". And where are you getting this information from? Johan definitely plays with less mouth shapes than Alex, but that's honestly just a stylistic difference between death metal and deathcore.
@@tevildo9383 it's like Prince and diaphragm. The dude was toned and abs galore running around on stage but the moment he would sing he would have a near beer gut look at points. Johan feels to me to be more down there. A low bellowing roar but contained. Alex is more explosive and dynamic in just presence that when he goes to yell or growl it seems or feels more in the chest.
The "exertion of energy and pressure" portion of this video and the veins coming out of Alex you dont see much of live from Johan.
Idk if either of these help my already rambled attempt. But let me know if not and I'll take another crack at it.
Keep in mind I'm not saying what either is doing, just from body language and whatnot it feels this way.
Be well
@@Phil.Anthropy longevity of use cant be it. Alex has been belting these lows out for over a decade with only improvement not decline ive been following him since he was doing youtube covers in his bedroom over a decade ago when i was in grade 8 i found him. Im 24 now mate (: i wouldve been like 13 when i found him and hes only gotten better, so hes definitely been doing this for a long time and only gotten better. Not as long as johan but hes been around
Nice vocals bro
We absolutely need a co-reaction of 1984 when STP bring it out!
Gonna be going to see Slaughter to Prevail on the 26th. Irate Fest Louisville KY. Check it out

11 years ago I performed my last show after have spent 7-8 years as a black and death metal vocalist and miss it alot. I can't even understand how I managed to make the sounds that I did. got like a "music video" from the show at WORDLBATTERINGB channel. its in b/w and simple labeled "World Battering Live" if youd wanna have a listen and/or go through it in a vid even xD i sounded kind a old school Cannibal Corpse or Morbid Angel like in my own opinion.
with this said I'm extremely amazed by Alex skills ever since you introduced his band to me with Baba Yaga or Demolisher
16:42 Damn Mark, your ear was counting that! (That'd be good short content..)
Haha, that's not a bad idea!
Great analysis. The thing that stood out to me was the sweat towel. I'm there. I'm 6'4 with a good bit of muscle mass and living in Texas. Sweat towel is necessary. Sweat towel is life.
All praise the sweat towel.
Im still waiting for reaction on Dragged Through the Inferno
So my new 2 song playlist that I have playing on my way to tms is rotoscope and this. This... cover... original... coriginover? When he does the "softer" (lol) "do you really think I'm afraid of you" actually sort of helped made lows make sense to me. Because I feel (not that anyone but me will ever hear it) like I can actually (without discomfort) replicate that, which then makes going into it a bit harder, easier. Fortunately for me, no one I know personally, likes the music I like, so no one ever drives with me. Win/win
That's a banging playlist!
proud ne sub here!!!
Bro you're 1 of the best in the industry. Don't you dare cut yourself short.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Yknow even if the rage on Alex’s face in this is all for the performance it does honestly look like at some points he will just pop from the rage lol
I am endlessly fascinated by how all the different vocal dynamics achieve what they do but have so much overlap. When performing sygyt very slight movements of the tongue change the tone and pitch and when I say slight I mean barely any movement. To get a deeper tone you slide the tongue towards the back of the mouth so it was really interesting to see you demonstrate that.
I am curious what you think about or if you have any familiarity with metal vocal techniques where you draw air in, rather than breathing air out?
I'm pretty certain he gives his breakdown of his thoughts on it in an Archspire video he did, cause I remember him discussing Oli's use of them and how he's impressed but doesn't do them himself. Great band too.
Worm Shepard, Blood Kingdom
Man I'm so annoyed that acid reflux decease has absolutely ruined my growling "career" would love to do that shite but every time I do those sounds I know I can make today, it makes me cough because my throat is always screwed.... Oh and I know the throat isn't the place to manufacture all the sounds and I certainly didn't, but I swear it plays a part when your reflux acids f your throat up
alex terrible did an Infant annihilator song where he shows off his highs a little more.
I'll check it out!
Proper question.
What was his vocal take, and what was his video take?
You should do a video for each of these bands.
Between the buried and me, the dear hunter, khemmis, DVNE, leprous
A very low tone at the end is when you run out of air. I don't know how it happens inside, but when you give a lot of air and don't have enough air until the end, it's like the cords (or something) relax from the tension and... It feels like some other version of sound extraction is enabled. But this is only my opinion, i'm not professional)
Do you suspect at least some of his power comes from the fact he’s ripped and just has that much more force to apply to the muscles below diaphragm?
I’m afraid that in any case that kind of absurdly powerful roar requires some kind of over-projection to which he just has an atypical, natural resistance.
I have trouble believing it’s just really good resonance and projection technique though he obviously has that too
I agree… I also find it funny that he doesn’t respond back to this comment. It’s pretty annoying when people try to explain something they don’t grasp or understand just to get some content out. The dude making this video sounds like a pig farm. Instead of just grunting around, try speaking some words when you do it.
@@alanwright782 I’m not trying to criticize mark. He has to make a living and if that involves some filler content in which he doesn’t claim to be doing anything new or exciting then that’s cool. I was just asking this question hoping he or someone might reply because it’s an interesting subject but again if Mark is busy being successful I can’t hate lol
I don't think it helps.
Look at Will Ramos, he's fit but not very muscular.
He can pull off some absolute insane tones but it doesn't correlate to his posture.
Check out the video where they poked a camera down his throat while he performed and you'll see what I mean.
@@pocketpunch9920 will Ramos has insane tones but they’re not as loud or powerful as Alex’s lows at least from what I’ve seen. A lot of Alex’s perceived power comes from exceptional projection and resonance but I think he has just an undeniable loudness that i doubt is possible without some over- projection. Because I literally do not know how to even do something like that even with unsafe technique I’m guessing he can push more from diaphragm in a way that is over-projected but not immediately damaging which is why I guessed he has stronger abdominal muscles to push from. Another thing about will Ramos is he does mainly fry vocals which I don’t think you can push as hard with without hurting yourself immediately.
Another possibility is that the pockets and spaces in his mouth and nasal tract where things resonate are just more cavernous or better shaped to do something like that which I think is what Mark suspects
@@adriantepesut there's a YT channel which, I forget the full name but it's extreme vocal coaching something.
He breaks down a lot of vocalists techniques and explains how to recreate them.
Alex is projecting hard, I know personally my lows only sound strong and resonant when I build volume and project too.
Alex is a monster though, and rightfully so.
He worked hard for a long time to develop his own style.
6:20 - you sound like Tom Barber!! I like this type of scream very much
Thanks!
7:34 how the fuck do you do that? What exactly are you activating? That's what my vocals are missing, pls let me know if you have any tutorial about It.
I have a few on the kardavox academy tiktok account. Essentially im bringing my arytenoid cartilages in over the vocal folds. I had a throat scope a while back and my epiglottis curves back a bit as well, but thats more incidental. Its a bit trickier but totally doable!
Will ramos and alex need to collaborate
You rock, bro!🫀

Not for nothing and a bit off topic, but it was crazy how the moment I seen Alex did scarification, I dismissed it just as fast because of who he is. Just felt like, "yeah, no... that's totally something he would do. Yeah... .... ouch"
Ramble point, I being 35 have seen the pain Olympics and done suspension but it was funny how if it would had been anyone else I might have worried a bit but because Alex it was just as natural as "what I want for Christmas vocal cover"
Immediately have to recommend new Termina song, that shit is nasty
+
One way I found to achieve a very similar low tone is to actually tense the muscles right beneath the chin. That causes the soft tissues under the tongue to go down almost an inch of their normal position. By covering that space with the tongue (tongue is not moving) it seems to create a '' second '' resonance chamber where the first sound is filtered through it which seems to add a lower tone to the overall sound.
I want them to make a new DOOM now just to see if they put him on the soundtrack. Love it!
That'd be dope!
a co-reaction with Austin Dickey to that Darkwatch vocal playthrough he uploaded would be cool
