@@user-dy8fz1gv7u I thought 2022 team was a perfect storm. Olu Oluwatimu was a better center than Nugent- Nugent was a downgrade and it showed early in the season, but he stepped up and helped the team to a natty. We are standing at the pinnacle now so taking a step back is almost certain. We lost nearly the entire coaching staff and entire starting team. Still, I think they can still be a playoff team this year.
Michigan has way more talent on the WR depth chart than I expected. More, Bell, Morgan, Morris will be elite across the middle. Need to find some depth behind them and figure which of these guys can win vertically down the field.

Doesn't help either that Michigan State hired a good coach and Ohio State reloaded (plus, The Game is in Columbus) the difference is, will Michigan still be able to rebound and still take care of business? We shall see.
The defense will be great again, the oline and RBs will be good. the wide receivers have potential. Quarterback is gonna be back at being mediocre like cade was. Big worry right now is kicker...
Jack Tuttle could be in the mix as well. Out of high school, he was ranked higher than Joe Milton, Sam Hartman, Michael Penix, Cam Rising, Will Levis, Brock Purdy, Zach Wilson. Warren was impressive during the spring game but in a real game last year wasn’t that great. Maybe they give Orji, Warren and Tuttle all a chance against Fresno State but will have to have a guy for the Texas game. Their first 5-6 games are at home.
Take a look at all the 3 star guys Michigan had and bumped them up to another level...while Ohio state always has the better recruits and can't keep up when it comes to defense....we shall see that D when it travels to Oregon....that game is a must watch.
I will consider 2024 a huge success if Michigan beats Ohio State or if Michigan makes it into the expanded playoffs. Whoever wins the conference championship automatically gets into the expanded playoff so I did not include it separately.
Joel, I like listening to you BUT..... could you amp down the hype and shilling a little? It's a DRAFT, not a season. It's spring games that don't matter. It's NOT a 'golden age,' in college. It's a deterioration of traditions, of rivalries and probably of the game itself. Those of us who once loved our local university and their underdog chances NOW just realize that we were un-consulted, and unimportant. Our loyalty to schools and teams who have no loyalty of any kind to US was a last straw for many of us.
Also, Joel's talk on the culture AFTER the key leader leaves sounds like Dr John C. Maxwell, who has been teaching leadership since 1976. Maxwell has written dozens of books on leadership. He runs the Injoy organization.
He told the school 7 years when he signed. Kept his word. No takers so he came back and won a championship. Urban Meyer groped young women in a Columbus bar.
But Joel, all of those players and many of those coaches exhibiting that culture are all gone. Add to this the fact that the schedule is much more difficult and there is no way they can reduplicate that success. But even more important is no JJ McCarthy and nothing remotely close(and Jack Tuttle is not HIM). All good opponents will do is stack the box and cover the WRs one -on -one. I doubt UM is better than 8-4 or 9-3 at best. This is not good enough to make the playoffs.
It's not hard to argue at all, Joel. They broke rules. They cheated. They had an unfair advantage. Any team could win if they knew the next play coming. Give me a break. Harbaugh bails as fast as anyone could. What's that tell you, Joel?
Ah don't worry. Once Michigan loses to Texas very early on...the burden of defending the national championship will be lifted and we can just enjoy a typical Michigan season, probably with at least one other loss (to the school down South...)
without looking at the comments, let me guess: most of the comments are from duh osu fans still waiting for the 'hammer' to fall... meanwhile marquise davis has two crystal balls suggesting a michigan commit suggesting that duh osu fans insisting that alford could no longer recruit were merely expressing denial - which is a known stage of grief.
Can we get Big Evening Kickoff on Fox?? A shame that this TV contract is forcing these marque matchups into the noon slot when would otherwise without a doubt be played at night
Seriously. You lost 44 seniors and have an untested coaching staff with possibly a walk on QB starting. If you don’t lose 5 games and don’t get slaughtered by OSU it would be some sort of Devine intervention or the biggest miracle recorded in the 21st century period. Either way it’s over for 2024. Stop the crazy talk.
lol the coaches you speak of that continued to be good after a great coach left is because they still have the great coaches players….the ones that fail are the ones that can’t recruit…

AS Eva wld say: "Don't cry fr me Michigan!" or C'mon Klatt!
Who replaces Connor Stalions? Now we have helmet communication. I'm concerned we can't steal signs anymore. How can we remedy this, Joel?
Aww keep crying 😂
GO BLUE!!! Nobody but Ohio st pays for individual talent!!!
Mike Hart should be HC. The running game became best in the nation after he got here.
If Day loses again to Michigan without Harbaugh, will that put him on the hot seat?
That’s the catch dude averages 1 maybe 2 losses a season including post firing him because he looses to Michigan will cause a cascade effect other coaches will look at that job and say the standard is unrealistic they run the risk of hireing the OSU version of rich rod or even worse Brady hoke
@@SJstackinbodys I don't think it would happen but every year since they have been losing to Michigan I hear buckeye fans upset at him because of the Michigan L's.
@@frozenfalcon253 I know and I do think that if he doesn’t win again this year (news flash I think he won’t simply because Michigan even from the spring game is a more physical team watch both like I did and you will see what I mean) I do think he will be fired
Defense is gonna be even better than last year and I’ll put my money where my mouth is on that one
Go Blue. #RUNITBACK
Great analysis, especially for a Colorado graduate 😂
Hoping for the 12 spot! Go Blue!
Love the podcast, Joel. Read the book "Leadership and Emotional Sabatoge" by Joe Rigney. Best book on leadership I have ever read.
Let's go BLUE!!!
no matter what, Michigan is going to have a crash back down to reality. that feels inevitable. Doesn't help either that Michigan State hired a good coach and Ohio State reloaded (plus, The Game is in Columbus)
the difference is, will Michigan still be able to rebound and still take care of business? We shall see.
I heard Ryan day is already 0-1 vs this new coach
😂
Morning Joe!
The defense will be great again, the oline and RBs will be good. the wide receivers have potential. Quarterback is gonna be back at being mediocre like cade was. Big worry right now is kicker...
UM win/loss over/under is 9.5. Take the Under if you value your $$$$.
Nobody talking about Jayden Davis yet?
Jack Tuttle could be in the mix as well. Out of high school, he was ranked higher than Joe Milton, Sam Hartman, Michael Penix, Cam Rising, Will Levis, Brock Purdy, Zach Wilson. Warren was impressive during the spring game but in a real game last year wasn’t that great. Maybe they give Orji, Warren and Tuttle all a chance against Fresno State but will have to have a guy for the Texas game. Their first 5-6 games are at home.
How did he end up at Indiana?
@@Jleed989 He was at Utah first and enrolled then went to Indiana. I assume Kalen Daboer was the OC?
Go Blue 🏈🏆
Take a look at all the 3 star guys Michigan had and bumped them up to another level...while Ohio state always has the better recruits and can't keep up when it comes to defense....we shall see that D when it travels to Oregon....that game is a must watch.
It's not just highly rated players. It is coaching and in Michigans case, having an elaborate sign stealing system for 3 yrs.
@@brandonwoundpickups ...everyone steals signs......everyone...gimme a break
@@SerbianSniper everyone goes to other teams games and records the sidelines for further analyzation of signs so they can cheat to win?
I will consider 2024 a huge success if Michigan beats Ohio State or if Michigan makes it into the expanded playoffs. Whoever wins the conference championship automatically gets into the expanded playoff so I did not include it separately.
Leaders lead, and M is reloading.
Who ever the QB is and if they we good 12-0, that person is the Heisman.
TE Marlin Klein is listed at 6.6 250. He runs a 4.35/4.4 40? Stop the nonsense.
Some call it continuity, others call it too lazy to evolve. Let’s see how this social experiment works.
Hi Joel - what books on leadership do you recommend?
"The Power of Negative Thinking" by Bobby Knight is actually pretty good.
Also, Joel's talk on the culture AFTER the key leader leaves sounds like Dr John C. Maxwell, who has been teaching leadership since 1976. Maxwell has written dozens of books on leadership. He runs the Injoy organization.
*
Harbaugh was so loyal and steadfast, that he interviewed with the Vikings on National signing day.
He told the school 7 years when he signed. Kept his word. No takers so he came back and won a championship. Urban Meyer groped young women in a Columbus bar.

😂😂😂😂😂
They keep pitching; you keep swinging! Nice hit!
he gave Michigan 10 years of his life coaching and 4 more playing . he has dreams too. and should live them out. you expect him to stay forever?
But Joel, all of those players and many of those coaches exhibiting that culture are all gone. Add to this the fact that the schedule is much more difficult and there is no way they can reduplicate that success. But even more important is no JJ McCarthy and nothing remotely close(and Jack Tuttle is not HIM). All good opponents will do is stack the box and cover the WRs one -on -one. I doubt UM is better than 8-4 or 9-3 at best. This is not good enough to make the playoffs.
Michigan looks scary ngl. Their defense looks great
#10 if he could learn to throw on the run he would be the next Patrick mahomes if they let him breathe
I think the RB coach is a plant from Ryan Day to learn a pro style system
3 losses min
hedgehog plan with a level 5 leader
without looking at the comments, let me guess: most of the comments are from duh osu fans still waiting for the 'hammer' to fall...
meanwhile marquise davis has two crystal balls suggesting a michigan commit suggesting that duh osu fans insisting that alford could no longer recruit were merely expressing denial - which is a known stage of grief.
Sorry Joel, Ryan Day is fading.
Jj vs cade again...
All I saw in your comment was crazy talk. That sums it up
.500 team at best
lol the coaches you speak of that continued to be good after a great coach left is because they still have the great coaches players….the ones that fail are the ones that can’t recruit…
