  • Gear:
    - 200W Marshall Major with my take on the factory mods requested by Ritchie.
    - MK2 Booster. Built to order. Based on Blackmore's modified Hornby Skewes unit.
    - Custom Shop Strats with CS69 Pickups.
    - 4x12 cabinet with '72 Celestion G12H Speakers in isolation cab.
    After much research, I'm confident that this is how Blackmore played it back in December '71.
    Amp and booster made to order. Please write a comment if interested. I'd rather deal directly to avoid fees and sales taxes but here's the Reverb listing for the booster. For the amp please check my other listings:

    Awesome, as always, and the tone is spot-on. Just out of interest, how long did it take you to work out the part so accurately and play so fluidly?

    • @mgalbu
      @mgalbu  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thank you, much appreciated! I had most of the parts worked out over the years but found out some new details during the making of the video. The hardest part was the playing as I didn’t have a lot of time to practice and, if I didn’t, I couldn’t play it right. I finally got a break when I was home alone for a week and was able to concentrate on making the video. This one was a lot of work! 😅

    Any chance to hear how your DPMK 2 and TP Aiwa 1011 sounds without playing over the actual recordings, the raw pedal sound? Unless I overlooked it on your page, I don't see anything that has just the pedal by itself.

      Hi! I don’t have any videos without backing tracks but many of them have sections were you can hear the guitar by itself, or with a bit of drums. All backing tracks have the original guitar removed. Cheers, M.

    • @darrenlay3198
      @darrenlay3198 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Unfortunately it is a true story. Wayne Charvel told me about it himself. I used to when I lived in Chico California go up and hang out at Wayne And his son Mike's guitar shop. The whole Charvel family Are the nicest people you will ever meet.

    1:32 might me higher position based on how be played that on other concerts (doing their their thing on the 335 for example). I have to watch when i have more time but want to look at the A to 447 portion and if that was just tuning or intentional to match organ in certain positions to avoid dissonance

    • @mgalbu
      @mgalbu  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I think I know what you're referring to, he did use the same pattern in other parts of the fretboard when playing in keys other than F -where using open strings is not a possibility. I observed that Blackmore will always take the easiest and less difficult path when playing, so if he can achieve the same melody by using open strings, he will. So many of his solos come to mind. Cheers,
      M.

    • @2500BC

      Ok listened to this a few times (excellent as always). So are you thinking that the 2nd guitar is an overdub or drop in (not sure how many tracks the mobile had)? I suppose u think different guitars based on the sound? Curious about ur hunch re the 2nd guitar. Good stuff as always!!!

    • @mgalbu
      @mgalbu  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks so much Joe! I first thought of the second guitar when trying to play along the record and hearing that he sounded "out of tune" during those "Lazy" fills after the main riff. Turns out that for some reason one of his Strats was tuned to A447 instead of A440. I first found out about this when playing along the "No No No" Beat Club videos. My guitar was not in tune with the music because his brown Strat was tuned to A447. So whenever I hear a part recorded that's not A440 I assume it's the same guitar. This checks out also because anytime he uses the black Strat the tuning is always A440. Another example from Machine Head is "Highway Star". The song is played in A440 and the solo in A447. I can't really explain why but he kept doing it during Rainbow too. "The Shed" intro and solo are played in A447 while the rest of the song is in A440. Many other examples. MIJ, etc.
