The River Heart Parklands Walk is still probably fenced off from the 2022 Floods.
Lots of old historic buildings have been torn down over the years, the Railway Station one of them. Shame, but the ones that remain are great to see everyday.

Their is a well known conection with farm machinery built by Ransomes in Ipswich Town that was shipped to Australia in the late 1800s, no doubt some were used on farms around Queensland.

Great walk Rob and history lesson even for those who've lived here for decades, just a shame that the River Heart Walk hasn't been fixed in over a year since the flood of 2022. Those brass children were originally in D'Arcy Doyle Place as a tribute to the legendary artist and re-housed on the river walk this century and there was a stream created plus a Waterfall using the brine water from the Bremer River.

22:25 looks like the fire road to the top of mountain bike trails at castle hill.

I believe the name Gippswic(Ipswich) derive from an old Germanic language meaning Town/city along the river.

Looing into it Gips also means gypsum and I wonder if that had something with the limestone they were mining, remember it said they changed the name from limestone hills, shame to lose the history of things

Congrats on the 150th episode. Great vid once again. As a long term watcher, i'd like to make one comment on this video, i dont think the editing in of the "humorous" extra clips actually works, but instead distracts and takes away the natural flow and "seriousness" of your doco's. I've seen this done on other channels and think the same. I do prefer your own quirky humour rob. Keep up the good work.

@BeardeDragon77 thanks for your feedback on that. I'm always trying to new little things here and there to see what works. Will keep your suggestion in mind for the next one.

Nahh. Disagree. I think the post-production inserts are great. So keep that in mind too Rob.

I disagree with you completely! Life is too serious as it is. We work and work and work and pay bills to survive in this monotonous world...can't we have a bit of fun too? I like that Rob adds some humour to his videos while also being very educational.

I was always told "Cunningham's gap" was spotted from that fig tree and if you look to the southwest you will actually see it from there .

In the 1980s I knew a guy who was ALLEGEDLY responsible for the renewal of Ipswich. He was convicted and later exonerated for burning down all of the buildings in the main Street.
( To police, he never admitted to doing it)

You didn’t get the chance to mention some of the more colourful characters of the district, like Sidney Cotton (Book - Last Plane Out of Germany) or the link to Ned Kelly’s family. Your tour was still very interesting though. The Smith family and the Architect who built Woodlands Mansion at Marburg QLD. Marburg has a fascinating and surprising history too. (Feature in a John Jarratt movie, The Settlement) It is hard to believe it was once a thriving township when you see what is left today.

Maryborough could've been the capital also.. second oldest port in Qld and gold was transported from Gympie pass Maryborough along the Mary river.. In hindsight Maryborough would've been perfect as the Qld state capital..
