  • In this video we directly compare the sound of the PRS Tremonti and the Les Paul Standard. We set up a clean channel and a distortion channel in Logic, designed to get as much from each guitar as we could so it was as fair as possible, and we then played both guitars through the exact same channels, so every difference you hear is down to the guitar itself, not us fiddling with the amp effects. The results are here, and both guitars sound fantastic - but which do you prefer?

First, that was very cool very well done comparison.
Next, I think the Tremonti was -better- {more to my liking) - on all except the last {position 3) setting. The Tremonti had IMHO better bass on all 3 settings, but the Les Paul was really special in its own right on position 3.
    Great post!

This would have been much better if the camera was zoomed in more and also moved around more so we really had no idea what was going on.

Wow! In my opinion that Tremonti owned the LP

I thought the LP was warmer but the PRS cut through more.

I’m not sure what kind of distortion was used but it completely destroyed the beautiful sound of the Les Paul. This actually hurt my ears to listen to this noise fest. I don’t know if CZcams trashed the audio or if just it’s crap to begin with. I've heard better 13 year old garage bands. I hate to be an ass about it but this sucked.

Cary Clan In my experience Les Pauls are muddy sounding, they're not articulate. This is highlighted when you play one next to a PRS.

Actually both guitars sound awful in this film and it is probably because of crappy gear and guitarist's no skill

Terrible tones on both... sounds like a cheap fuzz tone or distortion pedal.

Like comparing a smart car to a lamborghini. Les Paul is an overpriced POS, whose quality control sucks, and can't stay in tune worth a shit. PRS blows it's doors off. All Day. Every Day.
