2023! Still referencing this video! Great work!
i bake mine 190 for 15 min and it works perfect and safest, barely hot to touch
This is the be-all and end-all of headlight open and seal videos I have ever seen, given me the confidence to finally do my face-lift SG Forester XT headlights! Cheers from Australia!
IMPROVEMENTS & positive feedback: The video was well done and helped me do both headlights in a Mazda CX-5. The only thing I would do different since I learned from the first one is to NOT warm the Morimoto for a few minutes, it got too sticky and stuck to everything I was working on, had to throw half of it away. The second is to use the cooled Morimoto but stretch it out to about half the original diameter. I know the video said to stretch it but the first one was still too thick since the original sealant was still a considerable amount. On my second headlight, I stretched it much thinner, heated it, then flatened it and it worked out perfect with a beautiful install. Thanks for the great video.
This is the 5th video I've watched today and FINALLY, a comprehensive, professional approach!. Much appreciated 👍
Man I love sealing and messing it up and then start all over lol. This process is hard to do correctly the 1st time. My gloves got the adhesive all over it and as I was handling the assembly the adhesive got all over the lens covers! Took a long time to figure out how to get it off. Tar and grime cleaner worked fastest but made sure to clean it off every 30 seconds to not damage the clear lens cover. Second time I did just like the vid! Didn't have clamps per se so I looked at my jumper cables and they looked like clamps..worked like a charm!
Definitely one of the best retrofitting techniques I’ve watched on CZcams
I’m ready to take on the battle of retrofitting now because of this vid. It’s so hard to find 8th gen Civic Retrofit guides and this one helped me out a ton!! Got a pair of badly done headlights and now I’m gonna get a kit to refresh them
Great video but one thing I do differently is heat the housings before removing the screws. With older lights the butyl/sealant can be so hard you can snap the screws trying to remove them. If the sealant is warm it will give up the screws easier.
All the years I've been retrofitting and I've never ever seen this sealant. That's f*cking awesome! Prepping to get the lens back on can be a pain in the ass. This makes it so less stressful.
Team Lightwerks, Karl here in Denver. Thank you for taking the time to produce a really great video. Very helpful.
Thank you for the video. I used this to replace the yellow and cracked headlight lens on the wife's 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander. Everything worked well except for when I left the Morimoto in the oven a little bit too long making it droopy and hard to work with. Did better on the second light. Picked up the lens for both sides from Ali-Express for $58. Huge difference.
Again, thank you
Just opened my headlights today and your video was the most informative. I didn't follow your directions to the "T", but mine came out looking good. A couple of things that I did like were the clamps and pushing against the wall which helped alot!
Superb video!!! Details on what tools to use, time frames to work with and even do's and dont's! Just ordered a bunch of stuff from your website. Great prices and thanks for 10% and free shipping, really appreciate that! Definitely know where to go for my purchases from now on! Can't thank you enough for all your great CZcams videos, I've learned so much!
Thanks...great video. I just did my SUV and you video helped immensely. I used 215 degrees for 17 minutes and it seemed to be fine.
Thanks for this.. great, informative, simple, straight to the point!!
I tried thinner to clean the excess of the sealant with a piece of rag. It works perfect.
Finally someone that know what he's doing! Thanks! Have you ever resealed BMW E60 headlights? Liked and subscribed
Best headlight bake video ive seen.
Just picked up some used black headlights. Have to open them up to polish the inside of the cover. Gonna follow this to the T.
Thanks!
Thanks guys this saved me spending $1500 on complete assembly. Was able to fix it under $200
This is by far the best video on the subject, you guys clearly know what your doing. Everyone else I've watched on youtube have pretty much been hack jobs in comparison. props
Very informative video. I am going to try my hand at a projector retrofit on my 99 civic and I feel much more confident after watching your video. Very helpful, thanx again.
Very nice & clean ! I will order morimoto retro rubber with my next order from you, now i am waiting for D2S 4.0 to arrive.
Excellent job very well done one of the best tutorial videos I’ve ever seen. Thank you.
Great video, just managed to locate a supplier here in the UK, as I was searching for information how to do it. Without this video I would probably have tried resealing them with silicon sealer, thanks.👍
Have any sealant left? 😊
After reading some of these comments, I had to google joe rogan b/c I'd heard the name in passing but didn't have any connection other than that. Found his podcasts, and this sounds like him for sure! Great video. Helped me a lot. I went with the slow bake vs the 275 deg for 7 minutes as another video suggested. Worked great. I was able to pop the headlight open (2018 Fit Sport) and fit the new lens cover and reseal. I actually had to do it twice b/c of fingerprints on the inner housing so be careful. Looks brand new again. My previous lens cover had sustained a 2 inch gouge from a kicked up rock on the highway. I wanted to get it looking new again. Got the lens cover off ebay from China since Honda only sells the entire headlight assembly for several hundred. Used the info in this video except I just reused whatever rubber remained in the housing channel. To me there was enough in there already, and saved me the time and money from getting new rubber. Plus, there are several clips and screws holding it all together in addition to the residual rubber.
Great video man thank you I'll be using this next week on my days off.
Very good tips, I just followed every step in my Infiniti QX70 and it worked 100%
About to try this on my JX35, did you do both sides? Only the driver side is leaky, wondering if I should do both preemptively.
Super cool method to open up your headlights! thanks!
BEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN YET BY FAR! VERY INFORMATIONAL AND WELL ARTICULATED. THANK YOU. 🙂💖
you have done it very simply and to the point, thank you.
I used 200°F @ 25 min doing a set of Miata NB lamps and it worked fine for me.
Nice video! I just ordered the morimoto 7.0 stage 3 kit from you guys for my 15 si coupe, cant wait to install it!
Thank you!
Thanks for the video, I really needed a legit tutorial on this.
Best tutorial for doing this type of thing, thanks for being thorough.
Hard work and great job! Thank you!
Awesome.!! I am going to retrofit my headlights by next week! (Home DIY). Great video. !
You guys are Masters at those headlamp housings!!
Best video by far I seen on how to retrofit any headlight
Just a very well done demo. To re-assemble I used a tube of Liquid Nails. Worked great!
Wow!
Great video. Shows steps, yeah... Explains reasons! Wish I would've found this video earlier. 2nd 7.0 swap is gonna be much fasterer (doing 1 headlight at a time to stay legal). Hindsight being 20/20, I'll smooth out the factory butyl while it's still hot. Thanks again for an INFORMATIVE video!
man, this is an awesome video. the information is delivered clearly and he is very well spoken. surprising to find someone who can multitask so proficiently. good job
Thank you!
@@LightwerkzGlobalis it 240 degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit please?
240F@@jonjeny
@@LightwerkzGlobalyou're a legend, thank you.
I've just taken apart 2 Audi TT headlights to make 1 good one from 2 damaged ones.... I was wondering what to use to reassemble the good light, now I know what to order👍😎
great work and you're spreading your great work with world thanks a ton for this beautiful video stay blessed love from Pakistan
Wonderful tutorial exactly what I was looking for this is how the professionals do it
Хорошее наглядное пособие по перепаковке автомобильной фары.
Great vid thanks! I'm doing m7 07 Subaru Forester with the crappy sealant so it's all going to come out, otherwise I'm doing exactly what you've said here mate. Thanks for doing this vid.
Very detailed and project looks great. I will be using these steps when doing my sequential led strip. Thanks.
How did that go? Is it safe to put it in the oven with the led strip?
Did you remove the led strip or it went in the oven alright?
Best tutorial I have seen. Thanks team. Great job
Real clean job buddy congratulations
Really professional job and demonstration.
Fantastic video Thanks guys !!
great tutorial. One question though, why not wait for the do dry up and trim it with a blade? or does it stay soft?
Thanks for sharing
Best vid I've ever seen. Thank you
Thank you, thats why we do it!
Is there a trick way to level the projectors before install? ie the grid on the reflector bowls, are they parallel to the ground. could u use those as a guide to align the projector?
czcams.com/play/PLRtSL67o6XZ7qoO8LEypVtJcEs2Wc2iQ6.html
Great video
What about original xenon lights with wiring and control module inside. Is there any risk for internal unit or wiring if i place it in the oven? Now I'm speaking about European Škoda Octavia II gen (VW concern)
Great video! I admire your patience with all the redundant questions that you had to answer over and over. You would think people would look through the descriptions provided, the comments and replies before asking the same questions that are covered over and over.
Thanks for the great information.
The best video about this on youtube
I'm going to do my frontier headlights paint the chrome border lines red and reseal it. thanks for this video.
Great vid. Had to change my lights from RHD to LHD. 2k per light no way buy new ones. Sent the video to my mechanic. I break everything.
this is the best video on the internet in this matter
Triple thumbs up bro! Awesome tutorial!
This was a great and informative video!
This is amazing work, thanks.
Very helpful! Thank you.
Really detailing, really helpful, thanks for share dude
honestly an excellent video if youeve ever had to do this. thanks.
Excellent video, very detail oriented and informative. Thanks
Thanks Paul!
Thank you guys for the excellent video!!!!!!
Would I be able to ship a headlight to you and pay you guys to reseal it for me? I can of course pay for it to get there, and back. That would be awesome.
Great video tutorial thanks for sharing...
Thank you, I was looking at a $800 - $1200 price point to replace my headlight, this is a more affordable option just to change out the cover that was cracked.
Thank you!
Hey, do you guys have experience retrofitting E60 BMW 5-Series head lamps?
nice job, i would like to aske if there is any risks to heat my headlight with aLED strips inside maded few mounth ago? i want to re-open it for clean inside i had a lot dirt and mould formation! and thx for your answer
Great job thanks for this video
Beautiful tutorial! Such a professional!!! Thanks Ceasar!!!!
Saved video! Thanks.
Great and helpful video.
Geat video guys thank you!
Wow! Amazing 👏
Keeping the clamps on only secures the fixing with the glue. Once clamped in, put it in the fridge for quicker cooling off. That’s my opinion ✌️
I need to retrofit new halos in my headlights. The old halos are ccfl. One went out and the other one still works. If I pop them in the oven, will the ccfl pop inside them?
Great video - any tips on opening a 2015+ Tahoe light? tried but no luck
Thank you so much
I am thinking of putting a big pot on a stove in the garden and immersing the light in boiling water. What do you think my chances are of this working?
Can keep putting it back in to maintain 100 Celsius, you are only at 115 with the oven.
Thanks!
Does this process apply to most tail lights as well?
Great video 👍🏾
Great video !!
extremely helpful vido thanks
Thank you fr the video
Well done video !!
240 @ 20 mins is perfect! I used a temp prob in my BBQ and used a single burner to hold temp. Thanks!
I was a little shocked to see you guys place the headlight directly on the oven rack. I usually just put some wood to be on the safe side. Cardboard seems to me like a fire hazard. Great video! Now just gotta get some retro rubber...
Would non hardening silicone work to seal it back up?
I just got new fog light housings for an 03 Tahoe and in a week I saw water and condensation in them thinking I’ll be here soon
Fogs are usually sealed different and generally speaking don't open the same way. I would suggest getting new housings.
Is it the same procedure even for semi trucks head lights (Volvo VNL series)?
Thank you
Great vid
Best video what glue to use to stick the led tube light
Wow!! What a video!! U guys r awesome.. I'm a newbie and I'm not looking to buy another headlight. So any thoughts on doing a vid for a 2004 ls430 headlight?
Fantastic Video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 🇺🇸
great video!!
