I made the mistake of buying the murad brightening line and everything you described is exactly what happened to my skin. I started breaking out so bad, my skin became bumpy and was worst than when I started. This was early in my skin care journey (I wanted to brighten my skin before my wedding) so I didn’t understand what was happening. I thought I was doing something wrong. I ended up finding a new products and my skin instantly started getting better.

The vitamin c + glycolic acid (environmental shield) serum worked wonderfully on my skin. I’m on my 4th bottle and I literally recommend to all my fellow brown skin girlies. It worked like MAGIC for my hyperpigmentation. Every time I woke up in the morning i had a glow that wouldn’t be there if I didn’t use that serum.

Hello Dr, could you kindly review and do more videos for Korean skincare? Especially as they've grown in popularity over the years with a lot of positive reviews. Thank you! A fan from Doha, Qatar!

  • @southernpaganprincess7739

I find this review odd. I use Murad on all my clients and everyone loves them. Especially my clients of color. Let me ask if I may, you do understand that Murad isn’t supposed to be used in huge quantities. You’re literally supposed to dilute EVERYTHING. And by dilute your face should not have but the smallest amounts of any of the products. I’ve seen great results with everything in all 4 lines and I’ve never had any problems with my clients skin so I’m concerned about how much product is being applied and if these products are being applied to the appropriate skin types. I have eczema and I can use pretty much everything except the intensive peels without irritation and I’m saying I have severe eczema so that should say a lot about Murad products. And yes I’ve used it over inflamed skin and without exacerbating my eczema. Also, if we’re doing cost/benefit comparisons, unlike other products Murad freely posts tutorials on how to use their products where no one else does also under cost/ benefit comparison what is the water/filler ratio in other products vs Murad and what grade of pharmaceuticals are in each product. You cannot just compare without knowing the ingredients quality of each product you are comparing. Generics tend to use lower grade pharmaceuticals than name brands and that can make a world of difference when the consumer doesn’t understand or know. Kind of like using a high strength acne treatment when what’s really needed is a low strength that’s just as effective because there’s no bacterial resistance built up from over use. Or that using a lot of lower grade generic vs a minimal amount of a higher quality. You just cannot compare red grapes to green grapes and call them identical. Also the retinol eye pads are reusable if kept refrigerated and only used on the same client. The retinol in the packet can be reused on the same person. The reason you were not resist or a different person is because of infections or viral eye issues that can be passed from client to client. So like make up these aren’t meant to be shared with others anymore than you would share eyedrops, eyeliner or mascara.
Also, my other issue is you’re comparing them all separately but yet these products are meant to be used in unison and not alone. So using the hyper pigmentation products you would be using them with the moisturizing products. They’re even numbered as to where in the process the product is used. Thankfully this is a new system they’re enacting.

Since coming across your channel, I've learned alot about the mistakes I've been making with my skincare. Do you have a video on reducing acne scarring for SOC? Or could you make one please? I unfortunately developed adult cystic acne about 7-8yrs ago, as a result of unknown side effects of the coil. It's now clear as soon as I had the coil removed but has left my cheeks & chin horribly scarred. I'd love to know if I can reduce them with any products or methods or treatments? Your advice would be very much appreciated.

But, it's over $100 in Canada for a small bottle and with the amount of sunscreen I need in Southern Canada (Canada is not associated with heat, but the sun in the summer is so damaging I need a ton of sunscreen) I can't justify it. I'm super sad about it b/c it's my absolutely fave sunscreen.

Hi Dr V! I'm looking to use to PM gel moisturiser, looking at the INCI it looks like most of the actives are at 0.1% as they're between Retinol and Retinaldehyde (which are both confirmed at 0.1%), are the actives still effective as most of the actives are not in their therapeutic index, for example Alpha Arbutin should be around 2% to be effective. Thank you! 😊

Murad to me seems like a somewhat science-based brand that just RUINS their potential with a bunch of fragrance and drying alcohols. And sometimes essential oils too. I got a duo with the rapid dark spot correcting serum in a subscription box so I found this review, and I’m feeling like I’m just going to sell it. I have light-medium skin but I am VERY prone to both irritation and hyperpigmentation. I tan very easily and I get brown spots very easily. I’m trying to get rid of sun and acne hyperpigmentation with sensitive skin and it’s really hard!
