Actually, Rubio -- the charismatic, scrawny, mop-haired point guard from Spain -- might already be here by the time you read this. He was scheduled to land in the Twin Cities from Barcelona early Monday afternoon, with photographers and reporters tipped off to his exact arrival coordinates for some excited "Beatles hit America" coverage. Only this time, Ricky is the cute one, the smart one, the serious one and the funny one, all rolled into one intriguing, unproven point-guard package.
I saw him play in Europe when he was 16. Rudy Fernandez was on his team and left for the NBA about 2 months after I saw them. Rubio is very, very good. He's tough as nails, a GREAT defender and passer and threw it down two-handed in traffic. He's a winner.

The NBA style fits him perfectly now instead of slowing down and running a set offense every time down the court, he can run and get his teammates running. He will have to prove himself on defense though but i think he will be a solid NBA point gaurd
im not a twolves fan but dayum theyre looking good this year, and rubio really impressed me when he played the bucks

Yeah those are the two reasons why you can't compare Ricky Rubio to Steve Nash. Nash can shoot but can't play defense, Rubio can't shoot but can play defense. Rubio is like a Rajon Rondo clone. Can't shoot but is a great passer. I'm a bandwagon Timberwolves fan but I'm not ashamed of it. I started watching this year because Kevin Love and Luke Ridnour are from Oregon and so am I, and I love true point guards like Rubio. The team is just fun to watch.

@ryanneuman1 Nash was also backing up another HOF PG in Kidd for those years. I think Rubio has a big impact. With Adelman they could run the classic Kings offense and could start Rubio at the 2 guard and Jonny Flynn at PG. Rubio is almost the same size as Doug Christie was and could be a great fit for him playing off the ball. That entire Kings team were great passers and cutters where they all had to be able to see the floor like a point guard. this team is talented enough to play that way.
Just watched Rubio in the game against France. He reminds me of Rondo, minus the defense.

Haha yeah I agree. He has great defense he was leading the league in steals at one points and he's an awesome passer. He's like an advanced Rajon Rondo. Just don't compare him to Steve Nash for two reasons. Steve Nash could shoot and Steve Nash doesn't even average 1 steal a game while Rubio averages over 2 a game. Hopefully one day Ricky Rubio will see you at a party and bend you over the night stand in your friend's bedroom. Who knows?

@hotsauce0786 you've got a point with not even starting, but I' wondering if he could be a brandon jennings case. Because BJ struggled overseas averaging 7 ppg on minimal time, but then he came to the USA and lit up the NBA at first. It's a whole nother style of b ball in Europe. And maybe ricky will be more cumfortable in a running offense.

@RedDeadMaster1000 In Europe games have only 40 minutes and a different rithym (much more rotation). Compare Brandon Jennings stats in Italy with his rookie year stats in NBA. If you look only to stats, you'll think it's easier to play in the NBA.

@dsharpshooter87 Ricky Rubio is good defensively. He gets a lot of steals. You're right about the rest of them though lol. Derrick Williams might play defense but I haven't really seen him play.

@Oneil9986 he is one of the best passers I have seen in a while, once he gets a little better at finishing i think he is gonna be a very good point guard, plays alot like steve nash and steve nash is a hall of fame point guard. so Rubio is not "over rated"

@ryyguy022 Ok if that's true than I agree with you. I didn't see very many Wolves games last season but from what I saw Beasley wasn't anything to write home about. I just figure that he's Kevin Love's age and that if he's putting up nearly 20 points a game then that's promising whether or not he's doing it efficiently. If Rubio, Love and Williams end up being kickass players than Beasley would still be a tremendous 4th option IMO.

@lasoogneypubes True, but off of how many shots? He shoots 17.1 shots a game and only averages 19 points thats not efficient. In my opinion he's a chucker and only plays for stats, like a Ricky Davis kind of player.
@pac6010 rubio doesnt have assistants publicists or image managers,úp until recently, he disd´t even had a manager , his father took care of his contracts...he does belong to nike, and does his share of publicity, but he doesn´t mix that with basketball.If he went to work out that day is because he wanted to do it.

Rubio can get in any game and run at any gym. He will break down players from CP3 to the crafty JKidd
F.Y.I you don't get worse from EIGHTEEN to 21 years. You can have less top performances- yes but, the body and mind keep developing. At 18 Rubio was a NBA player at 21 he will have picking up your jaw.
I was only worried about whether Rubio had the NBA work ethic needed to be a star...

@lasoogneypubes Getting a lot of steals is nice but it doesn't mean you can play good on-man defense. Look at a guy like Monta Ellis and Tyreke Evans as good examples of that.

bet they still do shitty in intill they free up some space for the big guys. they need to trade beasley and anthony randolf for a deacent center or keep beasly trade wesley johnson and randolf for a older 2g and ok center. they just really need some help and some experiance on that team because now they are stacked with young guys.

@epicstreetballa23 I do believe that Rubio is a playmaker such as Jason Kidd but not compared to Derrick Rose. Rose is another level compared to Rubio. I don't believe Rubio is illusive and that he would have the guts to dunk in front of somebody.. For me he would just be a playmaker and a defensive player. Leadership and a scorer would take him a few more years. Europe league and NBA is 2 different level. It's like comparing MLS to Europe on soccer.
There's something weird about his shot, can't pin point what though.
