  • After saving this Renault Dauphine Gordini R1091, it took some time to get it finally starting for the first time after 53 years. It took another 2 years to get this barnfind running properly, but it was worth the effort! Now it starts every single time. It runs and drives beautifully. So I added a cold start and engine sound at the end of the video. This was filmed already with a GoPro Hero 8.
    For all who watch my videos, this was filmed before I was thinking about uploading anything to CZcams.

      I did disassemble it before and rebuilt some parts of it. After using it for a few years now, there are some oil drips here and there…but the motor works every time 😃

    My mom and a neighbor had a deal and we were driven on alternate days to school; my mom ha a Ford Anglia and the neighbor a Renault Dauphine and now I realize that was over 60 years ago! Wow! Time certainly flies.

      The one we have is in our family since new! So the uncle of grandpa bought in back in 62. Than grandpa got it after an accident…since then it was stored and not driven any more…

    Dauphine Gordini, das war was! Mein Großvater und sein Nachbar hatten jeder ein Cremeschnittchen. Bis dann der unersättlich Nachbar eines Tages mit einer Dauphine Gordini ankam. Das war zuviel, mein Großvater bestellte wenige Tage später einen Peugeot 403.

    • @mydauphinefilms
      @mydauphinefilms  Před rokem

      Das ist der Gordini unseres Opas. Und wahrscheinlich die erste „Tageszulassung“ in Deutschland. Ein junger Mann ohne Geld hat ihn bestellt. Das Autohaus hat ihn auf den Mann zugelassen. Fest gestellt, dass er ihn nicht zahlen kann und dann an unsere Familie verkauft. Aber Peugeot hat damals auch sehr schöne Autos produziert! Aktuell lässt sich darüber streiten…

      Yes 53 years indeed…it’s grandpas car and he is still with us. As he stored the car in 1964 I know that is was not running since then. But he helped me to get it back on the road 😃

      Learning by doing! Before I got the Dauphine I was not able to repair cars…and the filming startet somehow with the passion for old cars 😊 thanks for the nice words my friend!

    Great stuff. I wanted my Dad to buy one of these in the 60's but he bought a Ford Cortina Mk1 instead. He said that the purchase tax (VAT) on foreign cars was too much and made them more expensive.

      This car was in the family of my wife since the beginning. In 1963 or 64 the uncle of grandpa had an accident. Grandpa repaired the damage. From that time it was standing in a garage…
      Ford Cortina is also a nice choice 👍🏻 would love to film one one day…

    I was under the impression all Renault Gordini's were hemi's, with Weber's or equivalent.

    • @mydauphinefilms
      @mydauphinefilms  Před 2 lety +1

      This is factory original with a Solex F32 PIBT carburetor. The normal version came with 28mm inlet diameter. The Gordini with 32mm. At least the 36 hp version built in 62. This very early model came even with 4 drum brakes. Later in 62 they changed to disc brakes in the front. I also have some more Dauphine videos online. Feel free to check them out.

    THOUGHT THAT I WOULD LIKED TO HAVE OWNED ONE ! VERY POPULAR AROUND HERE IN LATE FIFTIES EARLEY SIXTIES ! VW BEAT THEM OUT ! OWNED 3 VWs .

    • @mydauphinefilms
      @mydauphinefilms  Před 2 lety

      Yes indeed! In Germany especially it hadn‘t had any chance against VW. The 4 doors and the the 36hp didn‘t help. But today it is something very special here. And for me as a „beginner“ it is easy to work on.
