I remember a "beauty contest" was going on in Europe. it was online, you post a selfie and if you have the most votes, for 30 days, you win 50,000 dollars. me and the rest of 4chan nominated this little chubby kid and we all voted for him. we got him into 4th place from 60th place in less than an hour and they canceled it because he kept getting votes.

Halle Berry's speech was funny, but Sandra Bullock's response was way more creative and she didn't blame the movie as much as Halle did. So I don't agree with number 1. The Taylor Swift troll wasn't making fun of the deaf, it was making fun of her singing abilities. And Eminem singing live with Elton John doesn't prove anything, 'ooh look I am not being homophobic, I have lots of gay friends!'. His appearance on the Interview was much more redeemable.

You should be able to make fun of anyone and anything, and that doesn't equate to hatefulness or anything. Saying that you can't make fun of any kind of special group or minority can actually be a bigger insult to them than making fun of them because you put them in their own, disconnected little group and imply that they can't take a joke and need your protection. You're basically singling them out, implying they are weak - and not even in the context of a joke. I'd take any supposedly offensive joke over that any day. And I say that as someone who was born with and had his life fucked up by severe disabilities and has a niece with down syndrome.
