Ya'll laughing throughout this movie while I was dead-silent, mesmerized of how amazing and epic it was. Besides humor, this movie is produced really well and the fighting choreography is incredible. And the soundtrack is unbelievably good. Gotta be honest though, kinda weird of almost everyone, specially Larry, laughing at everything. Even the serious moments. It feels as if they thought "since it is a comedy everything is supposed to be funny". When in fact this movie is great at changing back and forth from something funny to something serious to something sad to something amazing to something terrifying as it is The Beast with the toad technique. Confusing it with the over-the-top silliness and ridiculousness of some Bollywood movies.

Michelle was almost right: Stephen Chow did not incorporate moments which could have happened in other movies into "Kung Fu Hustle", he incorporated moments which already happened in many other movies. Do be aware that the film was primarily made for a Hong Kong audience, who was not only familiar with the local popular culture but also the Chinese ones, so the movie was brimming with references lost to others, but it's a feat that it still appeals to them, with a bit of universal humour from the Road-Runner. "Alita: Battle Angel" by James Cameron and Robert Rodrigues even paid homage to it.

This style of film is sort of what they call Wuxia, which is a super human martial artist. (but this is a parody of that genre)
It's the notion that if you spend enough time and train hard as a lifelong pursuit in your martial art you can attain super human feats with your prowess.
So you might seek out fighters tougher than you are to train. Being defeated is often a lesson also, and the guy who defeats you might become your mentor, as your goal is to become better than everybody else.
Though in this film it also has the element of the "chosen one" as explained.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the gallbladder of snake is used to cure disease, and the place where they assassinated the landlady was a medicine shop. So, there appeared a box of snakes.
The scene of film was taken to be 1940s in Shanghai, when China was transforming from its traditional society to modern society and was in a state of disorder and underdevelopment. People lived in hunger and fear. The comic scene has a tragic background.

Sooo many reactors (when they are at least two people) share ear buds so each person is listening in only one ear. Maybe that doesn't bother other people but when I use only one ear bud it's as bad as finger nails on a chalkboard. I don't know why sound being pumped only into one ear bothers be so much, but I don't know how you guys do that! :)
