- These Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Bars are beautiful, delicious, and easy to make, but unlike traditional jam-based fruit bars, they’re made with fresh berries, which means they’re lower in sugar. But, that’s not why you should make them. You should make them because they’re beautiful, delicious, and easy to make.

Beautiful! One question, when do I add the Cayenne?
David Butterworth so underrated
🤣👍🏼
Just before the ol' tappa tappa.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wherever you want! Remember, you are the Cheryl Ladd of when you add.
This man is the Bob Ross of cooking, an important character in our country's history.
"you are the *bruno mars* of your strawberry oatmeal breakfast bars"
"i like these *just the way they are* "
i see what you did there👀
He is a bit of Bruno as well
I like how you keep picking the bar up, taking a bite, and setting it back down in the shot. Found it really funny for some reason.
Me too!! 👏🏼🤭
I can’t wait to try these, they look amazing. Chef John, you have literally changed my life! My kids think that I’m the most incredible cook and anxiously await my next masterpiece. Little do they know that all the credit goes to you. I’m a culinary school dropout who would have loved to have done what you’re doing, but life had other plans for me. Thank you for your outstanding recipes, not to mention your sense of humor and sharing your gifts with all of us. I appreciate you so much. Much love from LA❤️
Same! I sucked before i found his channel hahahaha
KP91403 what a cool story!!! So glad you’re enjoying cooking for your kids.
KP91403 :Ditto for me. Just change “kids” to “grand kids” and LA to upstate New York. Don’t stop Chef John!
Chef John, I have a life that has a great deal of turmoil currently. I find comfort in your videos. Please know that you bring joy to many. You are appreciated!
This is really cute!! I know exactly what you mean tho! X
This could SOOOOO replace my pop tart addiction...you really are THE man!! 🙌🏾🥰
Heck yeah, with confectioner’s glaze on top (to keep up the path to diabetes)!
Very easily. Seems like Pop Tarts have about half the frosting and filling, and much less flavorful pastry, than they did a decade or two back. They're really no longer worth the calories.
I'm going to use this as the base for a no bake cheesecake. Looks amazing.
Woah thats a really good idea. Ill do that too.
You're amazing John. You are.
John Barton oh that sounds wonderful!
That sounds delicious enough to need licensing
Be sure to refer to it as a no bake *breakfast* cheesecake to justify your future consumption.
1:40 they're called "old fashioned" rolled to differentiate them from quick cooking/instant oats. I think its also marketing, since it makes them sound older and more rustic as opposed to the modern processed instant oats.
Was going to explain Old fashioned but you’ve already done a good job of it.
So the answer is yes, there is a new hip and trendy kind of oats
The modern variety of rolled oats is still rolled as per "old fashioned" rolled oats but then they're cut into much smaller pieces which allows them to cook and release their starch in a couple of minutes.
In my country they are called 'whole oats' ... I abandon marketing hype when it comes to food.
Well, there is a technological difference between those two oat products: *rolled oats* are made of pre-steamed oat grains that are pressed, which result in just pressed and slightly precooked flakes as we know them.
*Instant oats* are made of oat flour: firstly you grind the oats to flour, then steam it and create small flakes of it. Instant oats have higher glycemic index and thus you feel hungry quite soon. Old fashioned rolled oats fill your tummy for greater time span.
Finally went to Costco for the first time in two months ....actually bought some fresh strawberries on purpose to make this tomorrow...great job....🇨🇦🇨🇦🍷🇨🇦 Toronto Canada.. be safe everyone
Man these look so straw-*BERRY* good!
I'd make more crumby puns but I'd hate the get *BARRED!* 😋
Chef John knows it's almost strawberry season
Chef John knows everything
@@ayushmanbhowmik2139 Now THAT should be on a T shirt ; ]
@@sharonolsen6579 chef John has far more iconic lines haha
@@ayushmanbhowmik2139 yes , I am aware of the others.. I personally would like "Chef John knows everything" to each his/ her own.. : ]
But it's already strawberry season.
Must make this when fresh strawberries are available in Canada! Thanks Chef John.
I made these bars this morning, YUMMY! I used strawberry jam instead of fresh strawberries and was able to put these together in just a few minutes. They were golden brown within 23 minutes and everyone loved them. Thanks chef John! I'll be making these again.
My oldest son said the other day “mom your the bestest cooker ever.” What he meant was “Chef John, your the bestest cooker ever.” It was your recipe and we have by now made a few. We loved them all!! Thank you so much for making the videos and sharing the recipes. It makes a parent feel like a million bucks!!
P.S. you make our funny bones tingle.
I'm baking sour dough for the first time Chef. Used your recipe. I baked my first batch of bread a bit ago. The no knead beer load and it turned out great.
Even my kids liked it. Thanks for the helping hand. Stay safe.
Made these with strawberries and then with raspberries. Both excellent. Totally works as a summer desert with a spoon of Cornish clotted cream on top.
Im a very keen homecook - i first became aware of your channel just two months ago and i have since binge watcjed many of your recipes - i cam safely say you are the most enjoyable channel on CZcams amd your recipes are the best......thanks for helping me get through quarrantine ❤️
... not to mention WAYYYY healthier than the highly processed, sugar LOADED supermarket bars.
Grand SLAM, Chef John. 👍👍👍
these are plenty sugar loaded, lol. And also very processed (flours, sugars, and oats are alllll processed). But yea, maybe slightly less crap for you than pre-packaged bars. Still though, not healthy.
Judy D. You can definitely reduce the added sugar (would recommend). And it’s hard to come by unprocessed flours and oats. There really isn’t a health benefit to rolling your own oats so “processed” can sometimes be misleading.
Chef John your videos are so pleasing and wonderful to watch. I hope you’re safe during these tough times
I cannot tell you Chef John, how much I appreciate your postings. I'm vegan. And I get your channel because I love your style, and you always have great ideas that I can make a wonderful plant based version of the dishes. Thank you for the inspiration!
I think by "fasting all night" he means sleeping. I'm trying to learn to eat in my sleep so this won't happen.
Tellthetruth n/a I make these with Plums, and my friend refused to believe that I made them, gorgeous xx
If I get too drunk sometimes I have hyperrealiatic dreams about eating raw chicken. It's really gross. I can feel the slimy texture on my tongue and feel myself chewing through the muscle fiber and getting the white stringy skin pieces in my teeth....and i actually taste it. It's wild. And always unpleasant, I never get used to the taste.
Oh boy, 3 am!

@@teekotrain6845 I wish you hadn't shared that....
Chef John: Uses the spatula to give the bars "thee ol' pressa pressa"!
As someone else already said in the comments, your videos really are appreciated, especially nowadays, I always look forward them, baking has become my stress reliever!
I made these yesterday, used all whole wheat and in an 8x8. Turned out amazingly well! Not too sweet, nice bright strawberry flavor. Excellent recipe!
I love when I happen to have all the ingredients handy for Chef John's new vids. 🤩 Going to make these to enjoy over the long weekend!
Gosh...his voice is so cheerfullllllll..... Love it😊
Fabulous recipe. Thank you chef 👨🍳
I'm on never ending pursuit of oat-based breakfasts, which to this date contains many many recipes including fermented sour & savory gruels, PLUS ONE strawberry deliciousness from now on. Thanks!
Can you give some of the recipes you have gathered?
Can perhaps give me a playlist or the names of these meals pls 🥺
Teach us oh professor of oat-ology!
Yes, I'd love some oat guidance as well!

Seriously was just contemplating what to do with our left over strawberries. Thanks Chef John👍
How can you possibly have LEFT OVER strawberries?
I was about to leave this exact comment 😂
Freezer jam? Strawberry wine, pancakes, crepes.
... you have leftover strawberries? Mine never sit around long enough to be left over! I wait for this time all year. My favorite fruits are soft fruits, perishable and short-lived. My eyes roll into the back of my head when I see perfectly ripe, fragrant, dripping-down-your-chin-sweet apricots, berries and peaches at the grocery. The only favorite fruits I can't get where I live, are MacIntoshes, Concord grapes, and cherimoyas. You could always make fruit leather from your abundance, or preserves... and in the winter, it will remind you of warmer days. Xmas presents! ;)
Looks amazing! Thanks chef!
I made these today! They smell amazing and are delicious. Very easy to make!
My 3 year old daughter LOVES good wishes videos and calls them "food activity videos". She's been wanting us to make there's for a while and requests to watch this video often.
This guy has my favorite cooking channel.
Thank you Chef. John . Very nice recipe.
Thank you fOR thIS reCIPE. I rEAlly enJOYed it.

I have strawberries in my fridge that need to be used today. This is perfect!! Thanks
Love you Chef John! Thank you for another wonderful recipe.
Another great and simple recipe.Thank You Chef!
OMG this is right up my alley (oatmeal + strawberries)! 😋 Thanks, Chef John!
Definitely making these this weekend. They look amazing!
These look absolutely scrumptious and delicious! Two of my most favorite ingredients ever! Spectacular and so much healthier than the boxed version. Thanks for another great video and recipe, Chef John!
I love these bars, they look delicious! Anything with strawberries in it gets my ✔️ of approval 😍
Wow this looks so good!
Saw this last night and made them this afternoon. Just cut them after three hours of cooling. They look great and taste great. I’m not a fan of strawberries but do like breakfast bars and enjoyed these. Thank you very much for the recipe and video. Will try a different fruit next time.
These came out super yummy and so easy. Thanks Chef
These are so yummy just made them... thanks
We called these jumble bars when I was little. So yummy
Will definitely be making these
I was very glad to see that this recipe did NOT include the step "and a dash of cayenne"! Thank you, Chef John, for all the entertaining and delicious content you send us. I've made many of your dishes, and your instructions on all recipes are very easy to follow.
Oh this is so on my menu this week! I love strawberries!
I just made these, and they're great. A definite keeper recipe! I'll try making these with other fresh berries too.
Looks amazing!
I have strawberries.....I have oatmeal! Yayyy
These are absolutely delicious. I make these when strawberries are in season every year.
I can't fathom how someone could hate the sound of his voice. It's so cute.
Who could dare?
I love his voice
Apparently there are some crazy people out there, that find his voice annoying. Preposterous isn't it?
It’s therapeutic
I love it
Yes, please. This looks delicious
Ohmygosh! This looks amazing. I don't like strawberries, but I have a bag of frozen, plump blueberries that, as of this morning, have a new destiny. ^^
How did it come out with the blueberries??
These look great
Just Like Strawberry Fields Forever.
Delicious Cereal Bar Recipe 😋
Great recipe, looks delicious!
Yum can’t wait to make these!
Imma try this with frozen cherries🍒Wish me well!
Yummy!!! I love strawberries!!!
These look so good. 😋
I'm gonna remember this for part of a work lunch I think. 🤔
Thank you!
💜💚
Those strawberries are perfectly cut in equal sizes and shapes. Kudos to the cutter!
Yum, thanks Chef.
That looks delicious.
I'm gonna make this tomorrow thanks
Chef John is really coming in clutch with these recipes during the pandemic!
So delicious😋 Made these last week and only change I made was add some fresh blackberries.... my kids loved them! Making some apple cinnamon ones in the oven right now for dessert 😊 Thanks for the awesome recipe!
I'm making these tonight! Can't wait. I accidentally added 1/2 cup of sugar to the strawberries instead of 2 tbs, and added 2 tbs brown sugar to the oatmeal. I think it's going to be okaay. Outcome: Bars a soft after 45 minutes bake and 1 hour cooling, but sweet edible. Will make again with 2tbs sugar/1 lb strawberries.
I’ve been binging on fresh strawberries the last month, making these tonight 🤙🏽
The thing I love about this recipe is that I have everything but the strawberries
This looks so good!!!
Made these right away they are in the oven can't wait to try them they look delicious 😋
These seem so beautiful, delicious and easy to make! 😃
Looks delicious!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I made these breakfast bars in the morning on Memorial Day and they were good! While these breakfast bars were in the oven baking they made my entire home smell good.
looks amazing
Looks delicious
This looks amazing 😉
I dono why this recipe made me so happy and I dont even like oats. I just kept smiling through the whole video - they look so satisfying
Yummmyy love to wake up in the morning to eat this!!
Me toooo
what a nickname to give yourself lol
As they in France, except in French... Chef John you're the best!
Looks yummy..... Definitely will try it😋😋😋😋
Love your channel!
VERY good. Very easy. I made them with frozen blueberries and raspberries (defrosted them first of course). And I eeeeenjoooyyyed.
If you don't have a strawberry huller a large open star piping tip does a great job.
I made this. It was really tasty and a nice change from the typical strawberry short cake I usually make with fresh berries. Bet this would be really good with fresh wild black raspberries too.
I will make these soon.
WOW strawberry season is open. it is certainly very tasty! I will try to do it on my channel! Thanks you!
Yeeh strawberry is yammy
Saved it for when I harvest my strawberries and blueberries!
Just what I was looking for!
This is fantastic. I can't wait to make these for the little ones. I can do halves or thirds and it'll last forever! Plus because of... the thing.... strawberries are dirt cheap! Sadly, I heard California may throw out over a million pounds of strawberries because restaurants and other commercial buyers aren't able to buy. Aldi was selling a quart for a buck! They freeze well. Go buy some strawberries people and help the industry! 💗🍓🍓🍓💗
Yum, my mouth is watering.
These are delicious! I only had 1 cup of old-fashioned oats so I add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts. Thanks, Chef John
Thank You
Looks Yummy
I've literally been thinking about relatively healthy desserts lately, this is the first Chef John recipe I'm gonna actually do, I usually just watch cooking videos lol
