      Thanks for the feedback! BTAir is a wireless control option unto itself and really meant for a more beginner type of user who may not be into DMX control. D-Fi technology is a little more advanced and certainly more robust for a different application set.

    Could I plug in a wireless receiver and then use a wired connection to daisy chain a few lights together on a totem if they are addressed properly? This essentially helps me skip the cable runs from my console and then I could wire the rest.

    I have a question :) I used them yesterday five hours and it stands when you fully charged the unit will work 9-10 hours ... I have still battery but lets say its just 4-5 hours left ... if I will charge them again is it destroying the life of the battery ?? Whats the best way? if I will not charge them and wait the next gig finish its a little bite risky because I dont know 4 or 5 hours gonna be enough because of the distance, and a gig more then 5 hours ... and another question are they using the battery when the lights are just on and moving? Are they using the battery when the light controller on stand mode and the wireless xlr are on?... if you will answer my questions I gonna be happy. Whats the best way to keep the battery life longer?

  • @clintrobinson9601
    @clintrobinson9601 Před 3 lety +2

    A real shame... Bought a set of these and found that they need to use delayed pulse transmissions to get the battery life and this causes the light to "step" rather than operate smoothly on fade or slow scan. I should have looked more closely at the video because the guys clearly have a stepping problem here with the RGB light fitting fading...
    Hoping the D-Fi Hub is better, but it's a lot bigger and unwieldy with PSU compared to a lot of the competition.
    Don't really know why they are having a problem as the freedom sticks are a great d-fi product!

    so what i got from the video , correct me if i’m wrong , with ONE transmitter you can send to multiple fixtures with Recievers ? if i have 1 DMX and 4 Moving heads , i would need one transmitter from my dmx and 4 Receivers to each moving head or would i need 4 transmitters and 4 receivers. Someone plz help

    • @richardpowell4667
      @richardpowell4667 Před 2 lety

      Hey, seeing as it looks like the authors of this video don't really bother with answering questions, I will help them and you out in the one go.
      You have one transmitter. Connect multiple receivers. You can daisychain as normal out of your fixture (the ones that have the receivers in them) to other lighting fixtures. I assume it's in their manual somewhere as to how many receivers you can use with one transmitter but some other guy didnt get his question answerred either. You can however extend the wireless range by adding a second transmitter into the mix. I have not discovered whether you do that by plugging in a transmitter to the dmx out or whether it just magically connects.... hope that helps you.... and others

    The Behringer XR18 digital mixer has a built in 2.4 Ghz wi fi as well to work with a tablet/IPad. I know he said this has 16 channels to choose from, but all of us had to go with a separate wi fi router running at the 5Ghz range to get these to work consistently in a venue with multiple cell phones. Even Behringer admitted to the problem. Has anyone tried this out in a crowded venue, at a decent range from the stage?? Carl

      @@scottshortland3262 Thank you. I just know for DJ's that they are close to the lights, whereas us sound guys in outdoor venues are generally 100 feet and over away from the stage with the controller right next to us. Carl

    • @scottshortland3262
      @scottshortland3262 Před 3 lety

      @@CarlsOpinion Yes very true. I believe D-Fi can work 400m line if sight. In the case of stage events etc, I would keep the hubs nearer the lights and run a dmx feed between control and D-Fi. But I can see it’s not as simple as that, certainly for the bigger events and scaled up setup rigs..

      I'm guessing you want to daisychain fixtures out of your light with the receiver. Yes you can. I don't know how many RX units you can have on the one network. Possibly in their manual.

    its 2021 its time for most of the lights and stuff to now be wireless ( dmx & no power cable ) that would be a huge thing ...like ape labs is doing ....yall have more products but alot of them are still using power cables to plug in ....if u can get some movers and any that comes out in 2022 should just be battery powered

  • @MirageEntsUK
    @MirageEntsUK Před rokem

    Bought these to save on setup and strip down time. I have tested them on a few gigs now, and got to say - not impressed overall. Battery life is not what they say on the tin, its probably 50 to 75% of it. To get these units to charge in the base station takes a hell of a lot of fine balancing and wiggling to get them to actually start charging, and once they do, then check on them every 15 minutes or so, or they can stop for no reason, but a wiggle of the unit is likely to start it charging again. out of the 3 receivers, 2 have a high brightness green LED, 1 has a very dim one (obviously different batches, but would have expected similar batches in a complete kit). There is no list to say what frequency you are on depending on what channel you are on, or whether they channel hop etc - this would have been handy to have, as they cause havoc with some of my 2.4ghz Shure wireless mics, as well as venues WIFI!!!. The other issue I see is that the DMX pulse frequency is poor - its too slow, resulting in smooth fades being very noticeably stepped. Then comes the issue of random delays - ok it may only be under a second, but if you are running a light sequence then it means some lights are well out. All in all, they are a good idea, but lack serious documentation and stability. Would I buy more? probably not. Selling a kit with 8 charging spots but only 4 units to me is a bit of a con to make more money as it should be sold with all 8 populated. buying separate additionals is expensive and almost you'd be as well to buy another full kit pack and get the additional charger as a spare for a few quid extra.
