Architect David McLay Kidd discusses his iconic design as Bandon Dunes celebrates 25th anniversary

On May 2, 1999, the first tee shots were struck at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. The trajectory of American golf design changed that day, thanks to the vision of owner Mike Keiser, architect David McLay Kidd, and everyone involved in the project. AmateurGolf.com has run a tournament there for 23 straight years, and it's been amazing hearing the reactions of the many first-time players we have introduced to the resort, which now includes five world-class links courses, two short courses, and "just right" lodging and dining. I'm very lucky to be part of the 25th-anniversary celebration, and I hope to find the fairway when I hit the tee at 9:00 am on May 2, 2024. It's an honor to be recognized as one of the people who have been a part of the Bandon Dunes fabric.
