- In today's video, I'm gonna be talking about what I think are bad level remakes. When a creator makes a level that tries to remake a level and potentially make it better, but somewhat fails in some or most aspects that it comes out worse than the original.

reminder that the original verifier of silent circles was playing the level for 2 years and got 70%, but then got removed for no reason whatsoever

I think a level remake’s “quality” is defined by how well the remake can expand on the original level’s legacy. All of the levels on this list seemingly didn’t meet this definition.
AcropoliX failed to incorporate the decoration with the cramped and slow gameplay-its decoration is too bright, and the level doesn’t really add anything new.
Ziroikabi failed to incorporate a janky, chaotic, unexpected motif.
Silent Circles failed to live up to its “impossible” legacy, and even removed the most iconic part.
Death Moon Rebirth failed to push the bounds of the editor.
Edge of Destiny, imo, is a prime example of a good remake. It incorporated futuristic, extremely detailed designs that were ahead of its time that are sure to remain timeless.
Of course, every remake will have varying degrees of difficulty to achieve success depending on the base level. I think it will be impossible to properly remake levels like Death Moon, Reanimation, or Revolution-levels that were defined by completely breaking the constraints of the Geometry Dash editor, and as the bounds of the Geometry Dash editor becomes more and expanded, that ceiling to properly remake these bound-breaking levels will reach to the point of impossibility.

I was thinking, since the spam is like half of the level, in the remake, it should’ve added occasional spam, but for like at most 7-10 percent at a time. Because 40 is way too much, gameplay is kinda important.
there are a lot of layout of said corridor part that people made which still good gameplay wise, while being spammy.

For a second I was thinking death moon rebirth was actually death moon rmx, which I would’ve rioted over. That level isn’t exactly a remake though, more like a look at what death moon could’ve been. I wouldn’t call it as good as the original, but it’s worth checking out.
Silent circles and woodkid had the biggest fall offs I swear 😭
I think I saw a Sonic Wave remake that looked pretty good, it was called Sonic Wave Eternity if I remember correctly.
I mean personally I wouldn’t call that one good, but everyone’s got different opinions

i would like to mention a fairly unknown remake (mainly cuz its unrated) which fails to live up to the original, that being magic life by astraa
imo high life is a special level for its time as it doesnt try to shove everything 2.0 like a lot of early 2.0 does and instead uses the bare minimal it has which is what i really like about it
the sorta emptiness of high life kinda works with it as well considering thats what most 1.9 and 2.0 xls were like, but instead of high life feeling like nothing it uses this emptiness to its advantage by putting small gimmicks into it like the blue pad section before the 2.0 part
magic life takes this, puts movements on the structures, copies its deco design without doing anything interesting or just doesnt at all, gets rid of some interesting things in the high life, makes the gameplay generic flow and puts 50 layers of glow everywhere
high life being a very unique level for its time, having a remake that is literally just generic 2.1 glow flow is confusing to me

next video idea:Best dead/cancelled levels.. (examples:God of Despair, Reborn (collab betweem Xandergame and DavJT), Deimos (GDSkele version, died because of the slowest verification ever))

dude silent circle couldve just put 13 cps wave spams for 5 seconds then occasional gameplay for 5 seconds then another 13 cps wave spam for 5 seconds and it couldve worked
I would say at most like 8 cps as beyond that is completely uncontrollable but there should still be the silent circles part

@@abdullahtayyab8828 yeah I believe so, those grief spams are similar to the kocmoc spam which only reaches 9-10 cps. 13 cps would be something used in a spam challenge.

I thought Ziroikabi looked kinda cool and you made me sad.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Clubstep Reborn. It’s Clubstep with basic 2.0 hell deco and a lot of the gameplay is replaced with straight fly

btw xanii didn’t nerf the level lol he actually buffed it to top 1 at the time but then got in a fight with the creator and when they made up and the copy got returned to him with the level being in a severely nerfed state which he verified easily

Hot take but Sonic Wave Infinity (legacy)is a good remake. I love the deco throughout the whole level and as someone who jumping to SWI from Sonic Wave I honestly enjoy the gameplay it is fun. (I have 36% and 54-100%) I will say that I'm not particularly fond of the full detail mode though.

Silent Circles is one that bothers me because it's not silent, and it's not even circles with how the flashing is done.
Also I really hate what they did with the colors. Silent Circles is a very nice pair of colors of indigo and violet. The remake feels like it just goes for a paler, blander shade of pink and blue. It just feels gross and you wouldn't know what level it's supposed to be remaking based on the color scheme. Also personal bias but I don't like how the ship part isn't red >:( in the original level this was supposed to be an intimidation thing, with the song picking up in intensity, but it just goes for a boring shade of purple. like no effort was put into the right things here
I still think Zynvire's remake of Silent Circles is better than my own remake of the same level. lol
