    The Creta is what the Honda City used to be to the middle class families few years ago. This may not be the coolest, nerd fest thing in the block but it certainly is the middle class people's ultimate aspiration, stature and desirability factor that the Honda City used to have even tho it had its more cooler competitions like Fiesta, Linea, Verna, Vento. Brand Creta is as strong as brand Fortuner in this booming 10-20 lakh segment. There's no two ways about it.

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  Před 4 měsíci +6

    I have the 2020 Creta with 1.5 IVT and really enjoy driving the same. Since the car was planned for my dad I felt the gear box and engine option was best suited for him, rather as Karthikeya mentioned is the what the most people will ever need. Just last week completed 1100Kms road trip across Odisha on the same car and never once I have felt that I need more power or quicker gear changes, and the best part got 17 kmpl.
    On a lighter note it feel bad when Schumi makes fun of my old looks 😆😆, but cannot even sell it off as if I do that as he mentioned I will be an ExC*e*a owner. 😝😝

    A diesel is a diesel is a diesel. The biggest factor is efficiency, no matter how you drive, it is not sensitive to fuel consumption. A turbo petrol on the other hand if a usual spirited drive costs 1500 buks it would just cost 700 or so on the diesel. It is the freedom to drive more.

    - Shumi's summary 10/10 especially because he skipped the stuff that wasn't important 👍
    - I think the base variant is also important especially because it wouldn't have any ADAS or bling. A clean slate to work on if I may.
    - That color reminds of a "3D" color option on the Matiz. Looked almost black in shade, greenish with the light directly above it and bluish when viewed from the sides.
    - The 1.5 NA CVT is definitely ideal for city biased usage. The ownership would be uneventful which could be a plus or minus depending on personal tastes.
    One of the few channels where duration becomes irrelevant. It has become my best breakfast watch.
    Good job MotorInc 👍

    The SX variant of the Turbo Petrol would’ve been the best value for money variant. Fun to drive combo without the annoying ADAS. Hyundai missed an opportunity here by offering turbo petrol on only the SX(O) trim.
    Picked up the same combination on the Verna and saved almost 1 lakh and couldn’t have been happier. Rather spend that extra money on fuel than on features which will be turned off.

    Superb Guys!! Following Kartik from Autocar days and have always loved the way he review the cars. I’m an existing creta IVT user and it’s a great machine to use in city. Only on few instances you feel the power should have been more otherwise as a daily city car it’s perfect. While the prices of creta and Seltos are same, creta loses on features like Air purifier. Earlier it was present but in this facelift they have removed it whereas Seltos gets it. Also Seltos gets tinted glass whereas creta has regular ones.

Comparing the 2024 Creta DCT with the Mahindra XUV 700, I wonder if there will be improvements in terms of driveability and comfort with the Creta, or if opting for the XUV 700 would truly make a noticeable difference in the segment.

    Can we have a discussion about Sedan vs SUV and quantitatively prove that a Sedan is a better "body shell" for a passenger vehicle. I think it's much needed topic especially with all manufacturers ditching Sedans in favor of stupid SUVs.
    I'll volunteer some points in favor of sedans. Here we go!
    Quantitative advantages of sedans
    1. More aerodynamic because of being low slung.
    2. Lighter suspension components closer to ground gives better stability in cornering (not that a sedan is meant for spirited driving, but the dynamics of a vehicle closer to ground are going to be more confidence inspiring)
    3. Since the weight of passengers is much lower compared to SUVs, the suspension can be softer and still not induce body roll. The reason why SUVs need a stiff suspension is to prevent excessive body roll (which happens due to the weight being higher above the suspension components).
    4. Sedans are more comfortable (due to point 3).
    5. Sedans can be built cheaper, because they don't need heavy duty suspension components and use less sheet metal compared to a similarly sized SUV.
    6. Sedans have larger boot capacity.
    7. Sedans are inherently safer because of 2 crumple zones front and back (and also because of points 2 and 3)
    Advantages of SUVs
    1. More ground clearance (practical on Indian road conditions but not truly a significant advantage for city usage. Only useful for off-roading which are done better by true SUVs (Bolero, Thar, Jimny) and not pseudo SUVs like Creta)
    2. Ease of ingress and egress.
    Despite enumerating all these advantages of Sedans, I've gone and purchased a Nissan Magnite :-( because of horrid road conditions near my place!

    • @Tech_Advisor_to_CXOs
      @Tech_Advisor_to_CXOs Před 18 dny

      It does - eco, normal and sport. Sport has less acceleration lag (rubberbanding) than eco, but still noticeable compared to a manual or a torque converter. But the engine noise is much louder and annoying (because it's at higher revs). So it's a tradeoff between noise and lag. I drove in eco since I couldn't stand the noise even at 70 kph.

    This is one of the best disussion I have seen so far which is able to hold the viewer for this long. Quite neat & on point. As I am also looking for a new mid size SUV, I am a bit confused between Creta SX 1.5 NA Manual & Seltos HTX 1.5 NA Manual.
    Based on the comparion, Seltos offers more feature in the same price, like Auto Dimming IRVM, Front Parking Sensors, More ambient light (bit of a gimmik, but still an addition), 3 rear headrest & mainly the fogg light. On the other hand, Creta do not have any of the previous features in SX, but it only offers wireless charging. Both have 17" alloys. Based on price in my City & self insurance, I am getting Creta SX 1.5 Manual Petrol in 16.35L & Seltos HTX 1.5 Manual Petrol in 16.25L.
    My most driving will be in City and occasionally on highway. Looking for a family car. I'll appreciate it if you could please help stir my confusion here.
    As far as I know, both car mostly holds more or less resell value as well where maybe Hyundai on somewhat higher side, but thought to highlight this point in case if it helps any viewer.
    P.S: My height is six feet, but you have already got that part covered, so kudos to taking things in details & mentioning that as most videos just demonstrate rear seat space and all, but you did took this one as well.

    I eagerly waited for this discussion after Creta's Launch and i really enjoyed listening to you guys, as expected. A few areas i think you could have done more are.
    1. Talk about passive safety. Either confirm nothing changed or if you just dont know. For example, some channels are saying there is 50kg weight increased, so this might ace the crash test. Would have been nice to hear from you folks.
    2. Prices have been released long back. not sure if you guys shot this long back. if so why?
    3. While seltos comparasion makes sense, i wish you compared this a little more with other cars in some key areas atleast. For example, is ride quality and comfort as good or better than vitara/ elevate or poorer?. Is turbo petrol + dct as good as kushaq?. These are the ones that will evenutallu help propspective buyers.
    I enjoyed this Nonethless. Still i think you can make it even more awesome.

      @motorinc  Před 4 měsíci

      Hey Sudhakar! Thanks so much for holding us to a higher standard. We’ll try to tackle this here.
      1- Like the Seltos - the chassis has been beefed up. We will have to wait for crash tests to validate the improvement resulting form it if any.
      2 - we shoot right after we drive when things are fresh. So we will discuss price and value in other videos. Do stay tuned.
      3 - We would have loved to compare with its rivals but this time Kartikeya refrained because the road and driving conditions weren’t varied enough to really draw in depth comparisons. We wouldn’t want to talk out of our hats. We will compare once we get to drive the Creta for longer in more “normal” conditions. Like with the cabin experience and comfort we discussed rivals where possible. Hope that makes sense.

    I have been driving for about 10-11 years and have always been using a diesel (had 2 cars). The reason I am a little worried about diesels going out is because of the obvious reason of torque, and Karthik mentioned that the Turbo Petrols have it covered these days and I agree to it, but still it comes at the cost of efficiency where in a diesel you never had to spend more for that torque.

    Diesels are really good option because despite the gap between petrol and diesel prices narrowing, the mileage and torque combination really help them get some good mileage. Our Hyundai Verna Diesel gets 17-20kmpl even in Mumbai traffic, sits at 22kmpl on the western express highway and is stable at 25 on the Pune expressway while still having enough torque to have fun. It's all because of the low end grunt, it feels completely alright under 1500 rpm too.

      Hello! If you are looking at the CVT - the default recommendation will be the Creta - it’s got much better sound insulation which makes it much more enjoyable to drive. We would happily skip the tech pack. As for ADAS - right now - it’s not as helpful as it’s made out to be. We would want it to be really helpful in Indian conditions rather be just a gimmick.
