The config.cpp file is now located in the Scripts folder instead of the root folder of the addon.
If the screen just white, ensure that you used a support image resolution as mentioned in the video. Also make sure the file name is correct, if your edds file has been renamed or moved to a different location without updating the config.cpp you will get a white screen!
Also, some people have reported the following error when adding their server to the DZSA: "Something went wrong, The mod 'YourModName' has a Steam Workshop ID of '0'".
This error can happen when you upload your mod and never make any changes, this can be fixed by pushing any update. You do not need to change the addon file itself, changing the Steam Workshop description page via DayZ Publisher will work just fine.

Is it possible that the name of the mod in the workshop has to be exactly the same as the @ named file?
when i try to join my server it says that the pbo file is not on the server?

Hey great video, i got one question. When theres a mistake made on the custom loading screen do we have to follow all these steps again and re-upload it? Or is it possible to just change the .png?
You would need to update the png, convert it to a edds file, copy back into your mod, repack it, and update the published mod. So yeah, you would need to repeat a lot of steps but you wouldn't need to create a new workshop item, just update it.

Great video, but I’m running into a issue. I can load up my server and spawn in but when I die and wait the 15sec count down it just black screens after the count down has ended and won’t spawn me in

It is possible as part of version 1.23, but I have no idea what it takes to set it up in an addon.

It should, I have not had any issues after the fix I released in February.
When you say that this does not work with Expansion, do you mean that you cannot have a custom loading screen on your server if you also have Expansion mods? Because I do, and I am having issues.
Quick question: I'm trying to run workbench but it claims its not installed. There is a red "N" next to workbench at the bottom of the tools launcher. Any ideas?
Is it possible to use multiple loading screens with your mod? someone told me that yours override Pripyat mod and Expansion mod's loadings and that would be really handy to me!

If you just want your community to have the loading screen there is no need to include the bikey on the workshop page.
im getting an error when i add the second folder to Addons it says: "Source directory path is not subfolder of Project directory"

I have thought about it before, the issue is menu screens are typically pretty custom. I might make a basic template and provide that instead in a video.
why dose it start in a small window and not in the Windowed full screen mode?

Very good and easy to follow video. Only issue I had is that the launcher does not prompt to download the mod automatically. It gives the choose action selection and people have to download it manually. Any help with this?
Resolved on Discord, the DZSAL was error out due to a bug on the DZSAL side of things. More details can be found in the pinned comment.
It was working great but since the update 1.22, when a player respawns after dying on the map he gets the loading screen and then a black screen and the games stops. Are there others who also experience this?
Yes, I've been experiencing the same thing. Saw on reddit people saying since 1.22 the scripting on the custom loading screen mods needs to be updated. :[ Big sad since I have no clue how to do that and have upcoming events I'm hosting that need custom loading screens. I've tried multiple peoples videos, methods, and whatnot and still get the crash after trying to respawn.
I just done a loading screen for my mates server and when you load in the loading screen come up but then it says " Client has a PBO which is not part of the server" i cant figure out why as i have installed the mod on pingperfect as normal and the mod is downloaded and subscribed...any thoughts? great video by the way very helpful
Check your server RPT logs to confirm the mod is actually loading on the server. Also ensure the key you used to sign the addon is copied into the keys folder on the server.
I got through the whole process but my loading screen is white. Does the pbo need to be named something specific?
did this and it works with Nitrado servers but I now have a Dedicated server running Syberia Project and it does not work?

i have done these exact steps 3 times now (on HostHavoc) with a *1440 and *1080 just to be sure...added the mod, added to the command line, restart...and crash. I have no idea why
So i followed your instructions step by step... I am using GTX as my server host. I install the mod and add to my mod config line and now the server will not start. Please help
Sadly for me any loading screen i create using this tut immedialy crashes the map, so the server wont even boot up, deleting the pbo fixes it all.
I did it all but when added to my command line .. my server didn’t start up because of it . Any hint off the top of your head that I may have missed or did wrong ?

Watched your video and made a loading screen for 2 different events and everything was fine. After the 1.22 update I made another one but found out that after dying and trying to respawn, you'd get kicked from the server with this message: Warning (0x00040031) You were kicked off the game. Login error: Login timed out. (WaitPreloadCamRespawnState). It's been awhile and I tried again using your video and provided files and am getting the same error. I've watched other videos and used other peoples provided files but same error. I'm at wits end and seen some people in the comments are having the same problem. Any advice or fix?

@@terrorwolf4576 just saw on github he updated the file 3 weeks ago from typing this and it states that the respawn issue should be fixed so I'm going to go ahead and try it out and see what happens.
Yes this should be fixed in the latest version on GitHub.
Followed this multiple times and it just doesn't fully work for me.. Doesn't download when you try to connect and the image doesn't fill the screen when on the loading part.
is it possibile to get more than 1 image to display? like not the same every time. And is it possibile to get server messages in the bottom like you can with expansion?
Not with this template, the DayZ Expansion loading screen template it is possible with. I'm sure it's possible to have several images without Expansion, I just have not seen a template for it yet.
Hi ! I followed each step but when I install the mod, it doesn't display on DZSA launcher, and when I load it and start the game from the vanilla launcher, it gives me a white loading screen. Any idea of what went wrong ?
I started with a 1920x1080 PNG file
For the DZSAL issue make sure it give it time to update or force an update from dayzsalauncher.com/#/servercheck.
As far as the whitescreen goes, that is almost always an issue with the image file. You can try using the image file included to verify this or not.
im getting "This item is awaiting analysis by our automated content check system. It will be temporarily hidden until we verify that it does not contain harmful content (e.g. links to websites that attempt to steal information)." will that be why im getting a white screen and missing PBO
That is normal, and typically goes away within an hour. The white screen is typically an issue with your image. Might be the wrong size, wrong name/location, incorrectly packed addon, etc.
can you use several pictures? so, three or four, they change when loading?
Not with this mod, the expansion version of the loading screen can do more than one image (video on this in the next couple of weeks or so).
followed your instructions to the T but its saying i dont have an addon file when i go to publish even though I have it @mod,addons,pbo and bisign
More than likely the file structure is not correct, I recommend double-checking the placement of everything to ensure it is in the correct location.

Hi! I followed this tutorial and got the mod uploaded to Steam, but something is corrupt and it's causing my server to shut down, or load incorrectly. I was getting the Steam Workshop ID of '0' error, but I did as you said and made a couple of changes to the mod name/description and re-uploaded, but the same problem is persisting. I can't find your Discord server... is there some way I could reach out to someone for help diagnosing the problem?

Modding is unfortunately not supported on console.

Issue with the image, verify you started with a png file and the dimensions are supported.

I recommend double-checking the image, typically the white screen is caused due to an issue with the image itself. You can use my example image to verify if that is the case or not.

@@19engdahl Yes, Don't use workshop to convert image to PAA. Google image to PAA and use the online one to convert. Also .EDDS files work better, look up video create by every1knowsdave on creating mainmenu and Josietest loading screen. Make sure the image is saved as 1920 X 1080
i followed step by step but i tried to load in and it said PBO error and telling me either me or the game host has a PBO error, Ever experienced this before i was thinking pixles size might have been wrong but should have been what you showed so idk
Really depends what the PBO error said.
My server does not start after installing it.
So after i uploaded the loading screen i see it when loading in but then it says my client has a mod thats not part of the server even tho it is how do i fix this?
Ensure the server also has your mod enabled, then re-add your server manually to the DZSAL: dayzsalauncher.com/#/servercheck

Weird, try verifying DayZ Tools in Steam.
@@TheGamingChief yeah tried that and reinstalled, can't find any info about issue online. I ended up using text view to change image extention. Not sure what's wrong bit the loading screen isn't working

Copying my reply to your DM here for anyone else who may run into an issue like this, "You do not have the correct directory for the addon path. Check to ensure you have selected to correct folders.".

Followed the video to a tee, join my server, custom loading screen is there but then kicked out with a data verification error stating i have a pbo that is not part of the server (my loading screen mod)! mod is installed server side, is set to load in the commandline, lists it on DZSA and vanilla launcher but keep getting kicked... anyone have any ideas?

Almost always something weird with the picture. Try using the default picture with the mod to ensure it's not something unrelated to your image file.

Does loading screen music not work currently?
This version of the loading screen does not support music. The DayZ Expansion loading screen mod will allow several images and maybe music. Hopefully more videos on those subjects soon.

Did you export the image as a PNG from Gimp? Sounds like you're trying to import a non-PNG image.

Server does not start when mod is running
Check your RPT logs and any applicable crash logs. Something is going wrong, could be the image file or your mod structure.
thsi doesnt need to be its own addon i can just add it to my maps pbo pack right (custom map)
You can add the Loadingscreen.pbo to your existing addons. You can add it into another PBO file but it would require extra configuration, I would just add Loadingscreen.pbo to your existing workshop addon.

The screen turns white
If the screen is white something is wrong with your image. I recommend double checking the resolution and ensuring it was a png file before re-saving it in DayZ Workbench.

Ensure the file is a png before opening it in DayZ Workbench. Also verify you are using a supported image size.

when i load it all my other mods dont load in the launcher. whats causing this?
Is the server fully starting, I have seen this happen if the server is in a crash reboot loop. I would check that and then ensure it is properly added as a regular mod on the server.
@@TheGamingChief server starts fine. i have some other small mods as its a small dm server but nothing that would cause issues i guess. it basicaly removes all loaded mods when i load the loadingscreen. i got in to the server just fine , any clues on what it could be?
Yeah, RPT logs, and crash logs, Omega logs. I would look into all of those, somewhere you'll see what is causing your issue.
@@TheGamingChief think it was because i used spacing without _ in the name. it worked now :) now i only ask why it starts at windowed and not fullscreen and how do i fix that?
Ah, that would likely do it. Double-check your game is set as full screen in general. I've seen that randomly change before.

I find this funny. People literally charge for making custom mods, So they get paid for the time they spend making custom mods for people. Yet this guy is making a CZcams video (getting paid) to discredit other people's work.
How ironic to underwrite a whole category so everyone else gets screwed over yet he monopolizes on it by publishing the method.
How is this discrediting anyone's work in anyway? It uses a free template (*cough* not very custom *cough*) that has been publicly available for at least 3 years.
CZcams tutorials like this one help reach people and teach them how to do it themselves for those who want to learn. There will always be people who are too lazy or busy and can afford to pay someone else to do the work for them, but not everyone has that luxury.
Hey very helpful video, keep it up! I just have one problem though, the same as ForrestGump_TM in fact. The entire mod list disappears from the launcher (DZSALauncher), when I remove the mod the other mods appear again. I have no spacing and I even changed the key name to lower-case just in case. The only thing I could find in the RPT was this: 2:12:26.579 ANIMATION (E): Can't load @TheWoodsLoadingScreen/Anims/cfg/skeletons.anim.xml. Every thing else works by the looks of it. Thanks!

Solved on Discord, this template does not work on DayZ Expansion. A video covering the DayZ Expansion way of doing this is coming in the future.
Having a crash event issue with workbench when attempting to create the .edds file. Feelsbad
Could be an issue with the image file, make sure it's the recommended size and format.
Unfortunatly same here. Workbench crash everytime I try to do the convert and import to .edds. Sometimes the file is generated but must be corrupted because my server cashes on start.
