    The reason why she is flying the C-130 is because she is a fleet KC-130 pilot in the Marine Corps meaning that is what she flies whenever she leaves the team and returns to one of the 5 KC-130 squadrons the Marine Corps has. All of the pilots that fly the Hornet are Navy or Marine Corps F/A-18 pilots and they will return to flying F/A-18s upon returning to fleet Navy(VFA) or Marine Corps(VMFA) Hornet Squadrons.

    • @linanicolia1363
      @linanicolia1363 Před 4 lety +2

      When you are in the Navy, you get your choices between, jets, helicopters or props. If you are lucky you get what you want and if not, you get what they need at the time. The C-130 is a turbo-prop which you cannot compare with a jet fighter. Different training and that is evaluated at the very beginning, after their basic officer's training. My son went through it and got the jets which he wanted. He felt grateful and lucky.

    • @ARMON180
      @ARMON180 Před 4 lety +4

      Olive Papyrus Not a lesser plane. A different plane with a different mission. Once again thats the media painting a false narrative. There is no lesser plane or mission and if they understood the different missions that each aircraft performs and how important each of those missions are they wouldn’t use the term lesser. The Navy and the Marine Corps both fly different variations of the F/A-18 Hornet and the C-130 Hercules and use those aircraft to perform different missions. A quick google search of keywords like EA-18, F/A-18, C-130, and KC-130 and you’ll find more information.

Not to mention all of the enlisted aviation job training that goes on there that really is the driving force behind all these things.

Typical time spent on the team for a pilot is around 3 years. She was not just "public relations". It is also worth noting that she also has over 400 combat flight hours flying in missions in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom as well as support missions in Uganda.

    Everyone in the Blue Angel Demo Squadron is a Blue Angel. Unless they're out there fulfilling a mission elsewhere, they're Blue Angels. All of them. Right down to the person who pulls the chocks off of the tires. Hence the uniform. If you don't think everyone in that squadron contributes to their mission, and think the demo could go on without all of them, then you obviously don't understand the armed forces as a whole.

    Furthermore, Fat Albert is made up solely of Marine Corps Aviators. Trying to horse that C-130 around the sky as part of the Flight Demonstration Team is pretty awesome. The demonstration the C-130 Crew puts on with Fat Albert is a very popular part of the Blue Angel flight demonstration. They way they fly that amazing plane all within the boundary of the airfield is always a hit.
    FYI the Air Forces' flight demonstration squadron, I think they call them Thunderbirds (only joking) they are great, had a woman pilot on their team several years ago flying the F-16s.
    There are women flying F-18s and all other aircraft from helos to patrol aircraft in the fleet. One of these days a woman pilot will be selected to fly the F-18. To be selected for any positon in the Blues is an honor. Every slot from the line crew to the Commander are the cream of the crop.

    Yep, Naval Aviation's "old boy" network holds fast. The USAF Thunderbirds had two-count 'em, two-female pilots in their Demo as far back as 2007. One flew Opposing Solo and the other was No. 3 in the Diamond. Now the first female pilot in the Blue Angels only flies the transport. I will be surprised if there's ever a female Blue Angels demo pilot in my lifetime.

    Women have been flying military aircraft for a lot longer then what they showed in this video.
    During world war II women were delivering military aircraft all over the world to combat zones. Often it meant they were flying through enemy airspace and their aircraft was *UNARMED* because back then women could not serve in combat duty.
    Even during the revolutionary war, before the United States became the United States, women were always wherever there was fighting. They have always been the nurses, and sometimes when a soldier's life was coming to an end they served as surrogate girlfriends and mothers.
    These women are owed a debt that can never be repaid.

    Having a lady on the team is OK, in the end the ratio is 5-7 guys to 1 woman, so they always can check on her and so. What really would be top interesting to see, is the whole team made up of women and commanded by a woman, doing sorties on certain days of the month and under the influence of certain hormones, and with all the little hatred, envy and cheap grudges women use to have at each other due to futile reasons. Then I'd love to see them performing close-sharp sorties one of those days, like the one in 0:08.

    • @nickbarden9421
      @nickbarden9421 Před 8 lety +35

      Trust me, the Blue Angels did not let a female pilot join their team for 'political correctness'. If this female Marine Corps pilot is flying with the Blue Angels, it is because she earned her wings to join the ranks of that squadron just like her male counterparts.

      What...sky not pink enough for you?
      I used to teach civilian pilots. I had female and male students, and female pilots were every bit the pilots as the male students. In fact possibly even better. Certainly some of them were.
      Testicles are not a requirement to fly aircraft, and in fact sometimes I'd say they are even a detriment.
