- In this video I'll show you how to play 4 drum n' bass patterns in the PO-12.
With some surprise guests....
A big shoutout to these two videos that helped me a lot to understand D'N'B:
• How to make a Drum And...
• Pocket Operator PO-12 ...
I also found a lot of inspiration in the Bomberman Hero's OST:
• Full Bomberman Hero OST
Hope you enjoy this video, cause I put a lot of effort on it (during two months) I think the cumbia one was better though.
Recorded with Sony a58 + Yi 4K Action Camera
Leave a like, share and suscribe. That would be awesome - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Insanely underrated video. I searched for exactly this a few years ago but apparently the algorithm wasn't ready
this was one of the most awesome tutorials i have seen done for the po-12. really cool explanations and everything
I was gonna leave a separate comment saying the same but you said it perfectly already!
Super useful!
The most useful and logical video I’ve watched on the PO, even I understand it. A million thanks sir.
Came for the tutorial, stayed for the stellar editing. Not even Teenage Engineering themselves puts this much work into their presentation videos!
I really like your animations!
I'm glad you liked the animations :)
the visuals in this video are soooo sick
Thanks man. :')
The best tutorial I've seen so far, great that it's step by step rather than just a showcase. And great visuals!
I'm glad you liked :) I hope to have enough time to make more tutorials this year
this is an amazing tutorial the production value alone is incredible
Thank you!! Very nice tutorial. Kind regards from Germany.
Just got my PO-12 and LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS VIDEO! A+ content for a noob like me ;-)
This is great! Showing the patterns is so helpful. Thanks for taking to time to make such an informative video. Big up the Junglist massive!
Love that you put the sequences
By far the best PO tutorial I've seen - the visuals were so helpful as well. Great job!
This tutorial is pure gold. Great graphics and great content. Waiting for more!
One of my favorite PO videos! Please consider doing more.
Nice to read that :D, I will make more. I have another PO-12 tutorial like this on my channel, but it's not from a electronic music style. Still if you have time check it out. Greetings!
Yes please more!
Quite a helpful trick to layer up two sounds to make them more full/natural. Great video!
1st vid of yours I found. Exactly what I was looking for. Awesome work Sir!
Thanks for this. The way you highlight the buttons is SO handy!! So much more straightforward than other videos...
😀I really enjoyed this tutorial and learned a lot !👏👏👏Thank you Rodrigo 🙏
GREAT VIDEO! Well explained and demonstrates a lot of great potential with the device. Thanks!!
Awesome!
Getting a po12 right now and this is exactly what I wanna do with it!👍👍

Fantastic tutorial. Just got a PO12 and this is so helpful. Thanks for making it.
This kind of comments are so inspiring. Thanks a lot 🤗
top-notch tutorial, with animations and stuff. you should continue doing these!
Yo! Great video! I Subscribed!
That was great stuff, well done do some more!!!
Great video production!
Great explanation
GREAT video editing!
Best PO tutorial ever.
Thanks! Great tutorial!
quality stuff! great video!
Very enjoyable, thanks 😍
Great tutorial!
This is a gem!
What an awesome video - from the tutorial aspect to the fantastic animation and editing. Thank you! I do have one question regarding chaining of the patterns. At 3:25 you are chaining pattern 1 (three times) and pattern 2 (one time), but it looks like you are holding the pattern button down while pressing buttons 13 and 14. I’m not clear on how chaining works and would love a quick explanation.
Amazing tutorial, thanks a lot man. That s what I was looking for
Thanks to you for watching 😃
Wow! Thank you!! Amazing animation
Quality content 🤙🤙🤙
süper good! thank you man
Great tutorial. I really like that fast editing you did too. What's the trick? Subscribed!
this tutorial is brutal!
very useful content
youre fuckin killing it dude i didn't realize how little i was utilizing all the different features of this thing. your editing is hella good too, subbed :D
Brutal compadre, me suena un poco a jungle la PO12, pero promete, me voy a comprar una ahora mismo.
Lo dicho, tuto cream! 👍
Well done 👍
Yep we want more !
Man this video is cool.
Brilliant way to make a tutorial
Helped me a lot 🤗
THS IS SO AMAZING THANK U
wonderfull !!!!
Very cool!
Another video like this please! I keep coming back to it and may need to reference this particular one in mine!
Great work, really helped me program the amen and the rest you provided sound great fun ♥️♥️♥️🎉🎉🎉☮️
A year on and i'm back again!
Thanks for this resource!!
Another year on and I'm still coming back to this video for ideas!
This really was a great tutorial you uploaded. The programming can be applied not just to the Pocket Operators.
I usually like to use breakbeats, but it's also fun to program drum sequences, or even put them together with the breakbeats, well, that's the plan this time!
Thanks again for this gem ❤🤜💯💯💯☮️😎✌️
EDIT - I thought I better add the date since this seems to be a recurring thing...
Today is Monday 24th July 2023, 23:36 (BST / GMT) to be exact.
Thanks so much
This is cool
Dude! WOW
The example sample you called the amen break is not the amen break... for those interested you can hear it by searching “amen brother” by The Winstons... otherwise great tutorial!
omg awesome !
The official demo's were quite lackluster, but after seeing this video I might have to pick one up!
I already own the PO-14 Sub. If I use the drum machine it has built in and change Parameter A I can tune the drum sounds (you're basically stretching the sample) and if you tune down far enough you really mess up the samples and get very weird effects. And parameter B boosts volume and gives it a little drive. I assume you can do the same in the PO-12?
More or less. You can mess around with the samples to get very weird effects too, but there's no way to control the volume of each sound directly. Instead, the knobs modify other parameters like attack, decay, release (talking about amplitude) the filtering or the thickness of the sound, resulting on a quiet or loud sound per percussion. Still, it's one of my favorite pocket operators (I haven't try the tonic though, maybe it's better). What makes powerful this pocket operator is its polyphony.
Thanks for watching! :D
Keep doing this tutorial are really amazing, great job
This video is quite underrated/underviewed, such creativity so content wow
Can't fit a pc in a pocket. Literally Pocket Operator - 12
bigUps!
Great tutorial and use of graphics! Especially good advice to lower the tempo to play the melody accurately
OMG! I saw your PO-33 video on reddit, I really loved the visual style and the track you made. I'm really glad to see you here pal :D
Thanks! I love how Pocket Operator users have kinda formed a little community, and the PO-33 is also becoming kind of a micro-genre of music!
actually I'm seriously thinking in purchasing one, I think it's the best PO so far.
And me too, I'm glad we are becoming a cummunity :)
rodrigomacias I also have the Rythym and Sub, which I think are both amazing, yet I agree that maybe the K.O. is the best as it's possibly the most versatile.
Thank you! Can you do a tutorial for the Funky Drummer Break?
🤘
This is really good! I've got a couple of Volcas and 2 PO. I use the PO 33 for beats. Sample the same kit twice so I have it in two slots. Still struggle to use it effectively as a drum machine though. Have you done a similar tutorial for the classic house beat sound?
Nope, I haven't but I can add this to the request list since I finally got a PO 33 ;)
Cool stuff :P I want to get the rhythm next sub'd!
Thanks for the sub man 😃
Good tutorial but that's not the Amen break.
Can you do a video on how you do your animations?
Could you PLEASE make a short techno-style video with the pocket operator(s)?! Thanks! 🙏🙌👍
How do you make the po to play pattern after pattern?
Hold pattern and number of patterns you want it to play?
That's right. Just make sure you're doing it in the correct order.
You can only chain up to 12 patterns in the first generation of PO (drum, sub, factory).
Can you explain any house music, please?
Can you pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase do a techno tutorial
Do this for house and synth wave
That at the start was not the Amen break, it was a drum pattern someone made after chopping up the Amen break.
These types of channels always get the fundamentals wrong.
Just saying...that's not 🚫 the Amen Break at :30...the Amen drum break is not simply a pattern of hits that occur at the right times. The Amen Break is played originally by George Coleman and his drums, which make a very particular SOUND, and pattern. Sorry to be critical. I do think your video is helpful 🙂 but a bit off-course in labelling it as an Amen drum break. I would just say your drum break is a dnb tempo funky drum break that is 16th note based. Good video though.
