    Hope VW engineers have corrected the numerous electrical issues.
    Owned a previous generation and the engine and transmission were trouble free but it was at the dealership every few months because almost everything else was problematic.
    Traded it 100 miles before the warranty expired.

    I was also disappointed the Atlas didn't have the lock button on the hatch like most euro SUVs or the trick walk away button like the Tiguan. That said, if you lock it from the door handle before you go open the hatch, the act of opening the hatch does not unlock the doors. So after you've retrieved your four legged friend and close the hatch, the hazard lights will flash once indicating the vehicle is locked. Just an FYI. Enjoyed the review, as always, and hope Abby is improving everyday!

    Excellent review. If there is one lesson VW has learned about American consumers it's that they prefer their VW's to be LARGE! Almost every US version of European model VW's and every US only model (e.g. the Atlas, Jetta, Tiguan, etc) is larger and typically cheaper than the Euro-spec version. The Atlas is VW's response to the cool reception Americans gave the excellent (but expensive) Touareg. (Still on sale in Europe but long gone from the US.) For those who want an especially large and usefully configured cargo space and an ample third row that that accommodates three average size human beings, it's arguably the best game in town.
    Although the Atlas doesn't offer all the amenities, bells, and whistles of some rivals, the success and price points of the Korean entries in the category has led VW to make the higher trim Atlas models more affordable. Add to that the discounts individual dealers in my area (Seattle) offer and the top trim, fully loaded SEL Premium w/ navigation and AWD is being offered at more than $6000 off MSRP. Definitely worth considering if you're thinking about a Telluride, a Palisade, or an Explorer.

    Lovely car, great review. Hope VW addressed prop shaft issue seen on the Toureg in the past. Great space. I love the seats and comfort of a VW. Fuel economy is great too. They're a nice place to be.

    A more positive review of the Atlas than i previously saw, and she points out unique advantages over the comp. They all have pros and cons but Andie sorts it out. (I'm the guy on twitter regarding big dogs.)

    There actually are cameras all around. Top, sides, rear, birds eye view etc. you just have to press the menu button when the reverse camera is on or the part assist button when you’re parking and the birds eye view camera will activate.

    The passenger side of the car, the seat is smaller, easier to maneuver and if you are exiting the left, and you are parked on a street, not safe. Just saying...
    But you don't see that "space" between the middle and front seats in that Toyota. As for me, my dealer had to go outside the state to get me the color, wheels and SEATS I wanted. I opted for the two tone color, and got the bench seat. That way, I can still carry 5 people with the 3rd row down. 2019 Atlas SEL-P.

      Those are premium/luxury brands. This is as she compared this too, entry level 3-row crossovers.

    • @aceofspades6667
      @aceofspades6667 Před 3 lety

      @@normt430 Fair point and I guess that is compliment to VW to be comparing it to an Acura and a Genesis and a knock against those brands to not compare them to Audi/BMW/Merc. I also compare the Mazda CX5 to the Acura RDX and likely pending release of the GV70. There seems to be a grouping/lumping of 3 distinct groups and now just entry level vs. luxury. Take the GV80 it's priced as a tweener (more expensive than Honda, Toyota, VW) but nowhere near (BMW, Merc Audi, Alfa, Volvo) or the ultras lux (Aston Martin, Lambo, Bentley, Maserati). The GV80 looks like a Bentley Bentayga performs like a Merc GLE and is priced like an MDX.
