What is the cause of those crazy jumps where you're running into a wall and then it launches you across the map?

if i remember correctly it’s the same mechanic as when you fall off the map while you have a horse shoe, the game launches you back to where you fell from like how lakitu resets your position in mario kart. however you can manipulate this in your favor by tricking the game into overshooting you completely, this happens specifically for the skip where the game launches sly into the cannon that goes straight to the level one boss
