So glad I came across this video. I actually considered rehoming my 7 month old yorkie because I'm a nurse and my fiance is a firefighter we work very long hours and I was at my wits end trying to train. But I feel like these techniques are all things I was doing the exact opposite of! I'm excited and hopeful to try now. Thank you!
This is the way I recently potty trained my Chihuahua. I litter trained it, as opposed to letting it go outside, and it was by far the easiest and the best method I have ever used. So what I did was purchase a 24 X 18 wire doggy crate and put a doggy bed, a doggy blanket, and some doggy toys inside it. At the same time, I also purchased a 24 X 18 solid plastic container with high sides that I customized into my new doggy litter box by using a hack saw to cut out an opening on one side of the container large enough so a Chihuahua can enter and exit it easily. Then I added an inch layer of pine pellets to the floor as the litter material. Next, with the Chihuahua puppy inside the doggy crate I butted the doggy crate opening to the doggy litter box opening. As the idea was that the Chihuahua puppy would sleep and play in the doggy crate but when it needed to eliminate, it would eliminate in the doggy litter box. Guess what, it worked like a charm. So for the first three weeks, I kept this up only letting the Chihuahua puppy out to bond and play after I saw that it had very recently eliminated. Then after three weeks, I slid the doggy litter box out about a foot and a half away from the doggy crate. Then I monitored my new puppy closely throughout the day to see if she was using the doggy litter box like she was supposed to, and she did flawlessly. Then subsequently, I slid the doggy litter box on each successive day a little closer and closer to the final designated location for the doggy litter box I had previously picked out. When the litter box was in its final designated location, I then considered my new puppy fully potty trained. In any event, this was not only by far the easiest time I ever had potty training a Chihuahua puppy, but it was the first time I ever trained a Chihuahua puppy without having any puppy mistakes. Moreover, a litter box, as far as I'm concerned, is not only the easiest way to train your pet because your pet essentially trains itself, but overall it's the best solution as well. As I don't have to worry about maintaining a set schedule to let my puppy out. I don't have to worry about whether it is snowing or raining outside or if it is freezing or too hot. I also don't have to worry about leaving the puppy alone for an extended time period. I also don't have to worry about fleas, ticks, mosquitos, or my dog getting a disease another dog left behind. I also don't have to worry about other dogs attacking tiny Chihuahua since she always remains inside the home. As far as the litter material goes, I highly recommend pine pellets because it virtually eliminates all odors and it is quite easy to work with. It's also far cheaper than other kinds of litter materials and does a far better job at eliminating odors. As you can buy a 40 pound bag of the stuff at Tractor Supply Company for $6.79 plus tax and you will use only about two to maybe three bags a year. Meanwhile, when a dog or cat urinates on the pellets, the pellets disintegrate into odorless saw dust. To make cleaning my doggy litter box easy, I purchased a sifting cat litter box as a cleaning aid only. So what I do to clean the litter box since I always flush down the toilet any solids as soon as I see them, is empty the doggy litter box in the sifter of the cat litter box. Then I sift the sawdust in the sifter into the cat litter box below. When all that remains in the sifter is pine pellets, I then empty the sifter back into my doggy litter box and then add about a scoop to a scoop and a half of pine pellets to make up for what was used. Then I empty the sawdust in the cat litter box from below the sifter into the trash since it is odorless. Lastly, I wipe everything down and put everything up until the next time. As I clean my doggy litter box out about once a week. By the way, pee pads are not only quite expensive, they are also very disgusting.
Love your videos! I watched part 1 when I first brought home my 2 lbs 8 week maltipoo puppy. She is now 14 weeks, 6 lbs and officially potty trained indoors 🙏 I have 2 of the potties, one for her playpen, and one for her crate that she sleeps at night. They key is to clean up any poop ASAP so the potty is always clean for them to use. I give my pup a tiny treat (tiny bits of pancetta) and lots of praise every time she uses it 💕🐶 I clean the potty once a day with hot soapy water, and change the pee pad once a day
Ihave hadYorkies for soon will be 13yrs,but my last Yorkie,is7yrs old, they are very stubborn, and she is a tiny one, but be patient, same location is important. Ihave wood floors, and keep the area clean ,learn there body language like circling.you will always be training Yorkies, even when they are adults.Praise mean alot.my yorkie,is so great when she was going through potty trained, I am very blessed.
I cannot even finish this video before stopping to say how much I am enjoying this video! First you are respectfully pleasant for the eyes my sister! Then your method is balanced, loving, and I believe will be effective. Thank you!
This was EXCELLENT! Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful, detailed tutorial! I just got my new Yorkie puppy and will now be training her using the methods you described.
Love your presentation! Great job and wonderful information!! Our Yorkie Teddy went to Heaven about two years ago. I still miss him. I'm thinking of getting another. Your video has answered many questions for me. I want to use the puppy pads. Too. Thanks again and keep VLOGGING!!
Yes us as well ! I've so many videos . On a puppy pun apartments with the potty area . Didn't know I don't need a mansion lol - . I can keep it small and I will order my puppy pad ! My baby was just born on Friday ! 8 weeks to go
Thank You so much i have been so stressed trying to get my 10 week old Yorkie puppy i have had for 2 weeks because i have had no idea what to do! Thank you so much it was a HUGE help!
Thank you very much that's very helpful! I'm an expereinced terrier owner but I've never had a yorkie, your advice was excellent and it was really helpful to see your play pen set up. Our little yorkie is getting picked up next week. I can't wait to have her. Her name is Belle, my mother's cousin rescued her. I can't wait to give her a good home! x
Thanks for this excellent advice. I have followed your idea for an indoor potty area. Also 4 month old Rocky the Yorkie goes outside on the grass in our backyard. The Canadian winters are long and cold AND dark for many months. Having this indoor potty area is going to be nice!! Note: Right from day 1 when Rocky was 3 months old, his bladder has allowed him to go all night in his crate beside my bed. I was so happy when he slept right thru the night from 9 pm til 6:30 am. So I think everything is relative when it comes to their bladder size.
Girl I never rearrange my puppy lil confinement area he does it on his own. We’ll set it up and literally wake up in the morning and his toys are lined up against the gate. The bed on the opposite side pee pd moved 😫🤦🏽♀️
Thank you so much for posting this. I went to visit my puppy this afternoon. She's 1 month old. I'll be bringing her home late January. I'm so nervous about the potty training. This video is very helpful. I'll definitely will be using your techniques.
Aw congrats on your new baby!! Best decision I could have made was getting my babies!! Good luck with potty training! remember to remain patient and consistent!
Thank you so so much I was devastated my puppy is 2 month old I'd see those unrealistic videos like train your puppy in 1 week now I just now I have to be consistent and patient, you inspired me
Thank you, I just got my toy poodle . I followed your suggestion on the wee wee pad holder. She went immediately. Only shes so tiny and low to the ground when she's out I think she's just sitting lol, she's peeing. But the setup is perfect. Patience, patience, and more patience. I love my furbaby. Thanks again
Excellent video sis. Proud to say, I had already created a confined space for my new puppy, first day-before even watching this vid! Although I had already chosen a designated space for her pad, I hadn’t yet confined her space until I realized she peed and pooped very far from her designated pee pad that first day. My apartment is small, but huge for her because she is barely 2 months Yorkie, so that’s when I also put her food & water in with her pad and sectioned off that space for her. This helped immediately ‘cuz she has of course, limited space, and who wants to poop/pee where they sleep and eat?!? So now, she ONLY goes on her pad when she’s confined to her space. I keep that area consistent so she doesn’t get confused. I’ve had her for a almost a week now. She’s two months old at tha time of this viewing and she seems to be learning well! We’re training each other since I’m not tha most patient person and keeping her on a schedule has helped me stay on task as well! It’s a beautiful lil exchange. 🥰 I’m currently opening up her confinement area sometimes while keeping a CLOSE eye on her. She ALWAYS follows me, so I just walk back n forth from tha adjoining room to her confinement space, so she can learn tha way. Eventually, I hope to be able to allow her all over tha apartment, once she learns exactly where her pad is, so she can automatically go to it! Lookin’ forward to that, even tho I’m sure we’re a ways away from that big landmark. 🐶🥰 Thanks for tha confirmation sis.🙌🏾
Thank you so much for all of the info and showing an example of how a potty area should be. Have never own a dog before and is thinking about getting one for my daughter and I need as much info as I can. I’m a visual learner so you showing examples really helped.
These videos have been the most helpful. I've learned more with you than any other videos I watched many ideas and good advice. Thanks for the information
I just letting you know this was the first video I watched of yours I was in desperate need of a trick or something to help my baby along. You helped .. I got on Amazon the same night I watch this in order that potty. It's been about 2 days and it's been great he walks right up to it by himself even without a treat afterwards I did use treats initially as a reward thank you so much I love your videos and your dogs is so cute
I'm actually thinking of trying this method with fresh patch puppy lawn to hopefully making the transition to outside easier! But also so we can utilize both indoor and outdoor grass! This is such a good idea
1. Never use pee pads, train them to go outside 2 never get two puppies at once it’s asking for a lot of problems 3 do not get the female spayed until after her first heat if you spay before your asking for man many health conditions
I had a Shih Tzu for 16 years she was a gr8 dog . Love this breed. She passed away 2 years ago and now ready to get another shih-tzu. She was so good with potty pad.she got it in the first 2 weeks when she arrived home and never stopped. Hopping my new shih-tzu will be the same 😂
I watched this video a long time ago so I'd know what to do before getting a puppy. My puppy would tear up his pee pads when I wasn't home or just refuse to use them when I put them inside of the holder. I decided to revisit this video and realized that I was giving him way too much space in his big playpen. So I made it smaller to look like yours with just enough space for the bed, food/water, and pee pad holder. He went to the bathroom on the pee pad holder within 10 minutes of me placing him inside of the smaller playpen! Thanks so much for this video!
My cat was trained to use the toilet... Not as good as you think because sometimes we needed to use the restroom and SURPRISE! The cat was using it and had to wait for him
hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to learn about puppy training videos online try Moorack Ideal Puppy Miracle (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my work buddy got excellent results with it.
I loved your tutorial on potty training Yorkies. My little girl, Charlie, is 9 weeks old today. Being a new Yorkie owner, I have been reading or watching any and everything I can find on Yorkies. One of the things I’ve learned is that you shouldn’t seriously begin potty training until they are three months old. At that point, they will be ready and able to understand the command “Go potty” when taken to their designated pee/poop spot. When seriously potty training, always praise and reward them for going potty. In the meantime, if you notice that they are giving indications that they need to pee/poop, pick them up and place them in the designated area. Most likely they will go then, unless they are distracted too much in the process. I have Charlie in an 8-sided foldable pen that houses her bed, food and water. I have three pee pads down, and she has chosen the area of the pen where she does her business. I clean her pen immediately so she doesn’t mind being in it. She loves to nap in her bed, and that’s where she sleeps at night. While she’s in the pen, if I notice that she is acting like she needs to pee/poop, that’s when I pick her up and take her to her designated spot in the bathroom, and say, “Go potty, Charlie.” I praise her by saying, “Good girl, Charlie, go potty.” This is only when I notice she needs to go. All other times, she has decided where that area is in the pen, and she is pretty consistent with it. In four more weeks, I will be more diligent in taking her to her designated pee/poop pad as we begin to seriously potty train. By then, she will have gotten used to going in the designated area, and will receive rewards along with praise. I’ve had Charlie since she was 6 and a half weeks old. Her mother stopped nursing Charlie and her litter mates after two weeks. The breeder then bottle fed them several times a day. I’m not sure at what point the breeder started them on kibble, but Charlie took to it and wet food immediately. She had her puppy teeth, so she was eating puppy food and rejecting the bottle. The breeder felt Charlie and one of her sisters were able to join their forever families, while three others were still not ready. The breeders Vet concurred, so I’ve had a few weeks with Charlie and I getting to know one another. She’s extremely intelligent for a puppy so young, and has already mastered a couple of commands like “Charlie sit” and “Charlie come”. With fingers crossed, I’m hoping my approach to potty training goes as well. 😁🤞
You are speaking the truth my dear. That is exactly what I did with my shorkie. He’s 2 now but i still celebrate him when he does his poop and pee. I just love seeing him run to us so excited that he just poops or pees. But cleaning it every day is so important, they do not like a filthy tray and consistency, consistently is so important. I took a week of constant consistency of training when I first got my shorkie, but it did take a whole year after we did not see any mistakes. But accidents happens, and she’s right on not giving it attention.
Thank You so much for for well organized, informative, and easy to follow video on the subject matter. I get my pup in 12 days. This was so helpful. Thank You 💕
i just got my yorkie, he is seven weeks old & is having a bit of trouble using the potty on the puppy pad buttttt he’s getting better with these tips ! thank you ❤️
Thank you for this video. There seems to be a ton on videos on training meduim and large breeds, but not much for us toy breed owners and this was very detailed and informative. So helpful for my little Kiki who is a 1 and 3/4 lb Pom and is set to be around 4.5 lbs when fully grown.
This is so informative and great help for those that would like to house train. I used a corner in the house for Coby when i first got him but he likes going outside better. Thanks for sharing this information! 🙂
There are many factors in potty training methods. One plan I found that succeeds in merging these is the Perfect Potty Path (check it out on google) without a doubt the best remedy i've seen.Check out all the extraordinary information .
I'm getting a yorkie in 6-7 weeks I can't get it sooner because it was just born on Saturday so exited to get it and he is a male baby and I have another dog but not a yorkie but I love this channel
Thank you! i was trying to look for a video that explains well and you explained it very well im getting a dog very soon and i am really happy that i finally get a dog and i hope this works!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I have been working with my baby boy Max (2 years old) to go on his pad and I noticed he definitely does it when I’m at work (I gate him in his confinement area) but it’s the times when I’m home that I have to watch him. I do take him out about 3 times a day but I want him to be able to, like you said, have an area that he can go to when he needs it! My goal is for him to know that going outside and going inside on his pad is good! I think I’m going to try more positive reinforcement to let him know when he’s doing right. Also, I think I’m going to make sure he’s confined, like you said, even for short periods when I’m away. I do get discouraged sometimes when he has an accident so thank you so much for the encouragement in that! You’re awesome and you really inspire me a lot with your channel!!
Aw I am so happy I can help!! its so easy to get discouraged, but it is a learning curve and as long as you remain consistent and use that positive reinforcement to let your dog know they did something right he will come around. For some pups it can take a little longer to train, but it can be done! You got this girl!
This video was amazing especially when you showed the confinement area! Is it ok to have puppy pads in the several places around the house. And how did you introduce them to going to potty outside?
I would recommend having puppy pads in one designated area. I would keep them in a confinement area and watch them whenever I saw the tell-tell signs of them getting ready to potty I would move them over to the potty area and get super excited when they went in the desired place. So watching them super hard along with them smelling their scent they began to know where to go. Thanks so much for watching!
When you are home with the pups, do you open up the confinement area so they can get to the pad on their own? Or do you always just watch to see when they look like they're ready to potty and move them to the confinement area?
Your video was excellent. Thank you so much. I will follow all of your suggestions and it was also very good to see your set-up. I love your little Yorkies. Thanks again.
I have been looking for a video on indoor potty training for a while and This has been the most helpful video! I have watched it multiple times! great video! Thank you!
We were lucky. Our Yorkie started to use the wee wee pads first day. We give him a small treat when he goes. It was amazing. I guess the breeder trained him to use the pads. He sleeps 8 hours in a playpen and does not go potty in it. He is the easiest dog we have had. He usually poops when no one is watching. He needs his privacy. Great to get a new dog who wants to use the pad, but only if they are in the same place. We tried to move them and he kept going to the old spot so we put the pad back to where it is. He is also the first dog who did not cry at night when we got him. He sleeps for a long time. He has been great. No training necessary. Even stays still while we grind his nails and groom him. Only issue is that he likes to lick faces, even visitors so we are working on that. I got him to stop biting fingers when we play. Learned quickly to not bite flesh.
First, thank sooooo much for this video. Second I just got my Paisleigh so I made the confinement area like you demonstrated and she gets to go on her puppy pad holder but how did you go about training your pups outside of that area? Did you work with them in the cage or set pads up along your home and use you “potty word”? I’m not sure how to go about having her out playing in the living room, which is the only other place she’s allowed, and train her there as well.
Thank you for this! I'm 1 week into a 9 week mini poodle, and the peeing accidents is driving me crazy 🤣. I do give her too much freedom to walk around the house, so confining her space is something I'll work on!
I did that with my Pomeranian when she’s was a baby but when she turn 5 months old my apartment smells so I retrained my Pomeranian out in the patio and she’s doing great and no more smells in side the apartment ,my Pomeranian is 4 pounds 6 months old and now she’s free and let me know when she wants to go out and the tip is give then treats and love ❤️ She still using the potty pad out because my patio is a balcony😊
Thank you for the advice! one of the best vidoes ive watched! Do you think the same method of creating a potty area helps with older/adopted dogs as well? Most of the videos seem to be specifically for puppies. Thank you!
Hi, Thank you for a wonderful video, so helpful ❤️1 I do have a few questions though. How long do I leave my puppy in the closed area? And my puppy seems very upset when I put him there after being used to roaming around the apartment for about two weeks, so what can I do do get him to be ok when I put him there?
Thanks for this video, i have two Chihuahua puppies that just refuse to go in the area when it’s dirty, I just thought they weren’t potty trained yet bc they go on their blankets and then lay in it or bury it. They are 8 mos old now and they are doing really good now exclusively using the litter box with pine pellets, when im out of pellets I guess they got confused and the didn’t want to go to a wet pee pad.
haha!! It is the truth. Marley is so boujee that if there is even a little poop on the pad he won't go on it. he will wait until I clean it now lol. He is too much!

Hi b Chisholm where do you buy you’re puppy I’m looking for one
Yes us as well ! I've so many videos . On a puppy pun apartments with the potty area . Didn't know I don't need a mansion lol - . I can keep it small and I will order my puppy pad ! My baby was just born on Friday ! 8 weeks to go
Thank you so much. You are so passionate and compassionate about your babies. Appreciate your help.
I can't wait to give her a good home! x
Picking my baby boy up tomorrow I’m super excited thanks for all the helpful information
I am so happy I found your channel, I'm a NEW Yorkie mom and he's 8 weeks old and you have taught me so much on Potty training Cash. THANK YOU!
You are great. Your videos have helped me out tremendously with my 8 week old yorkie.
that is awesome ! thank you for watching
Great video and tips! I agree about training them on the inside and eventually if you want train them to a particular spot outside.
I LOVE your video! Very helpful!
Thanks so much! 😊
thank you for the advice! Your videos always help :)

We're going to have a yorkie dog soon! Oh, how excited i am
Updates?
Thanks for the information
that is awesome thank you so much for the support!

What a good potty instructions. You literally hit all the most important key points.
This video is awesome. ❤️ new fur mom here of a 6 week old yorkie. I definitely didn’t know where to start but this gives me a beginning point
OKAY BUT THE INTRO I LOVE ITTTT
I’m about to get a Yorkie so this really helped thank you I love your Yorkies❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Excellent video! Great information! You’re Awesome!
I'm getting a little puppy soon so I'm here watching a lot of videos I'm So exited ❤
Update: I Got 2!!! cute and adorable puppies A Girl and boy❤
Me too. Looking to get one soon.
Me too!!
Yay! Very excited for you. How are they doing in their new home?
I going to get a morkie and yorkie next year so I've been doing research by the way they are going to be females
1. Never use pee pads, train them to go outside 2 never get two puppies at once it’s asking for a lot of problems 3 do not get the female spayed until after her first heat if you spay before your asking for man many health conditions
Very informative 👌
Awaiting my shih tzu in 6 weeks excited ❤️
I wish my dog used the toilet
AW I am sure he can with a little practice! Thanks so much for watching!
My cat was trained to use the toilet... Not as good as you think because sometimes we needed to use the restroom and SURPRISE! The cat was using it and had to wait for him
Me too

safari_nursery aww I am sorry to hear that ! I hope you enjoyed the video anyways! Thanks for watching!
Awesome, Amazing, Thorough & Academic Video ThankYou So Much ❤️✨
Thanks so much I was already doing this 💕i was moving the pad but thanks I won’t anymore 😘
Thank You 💕
I use the same method you use. I just can't see ever locking one of my beloved children in a crate. They're like doggy jail. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this video - I am getting a Yorkie in a few months and your video really helped.
Im gonna get a puppy soon so this was a great help!! Thank you so much😊😄
It's not even Christmas yet anymore but that intro was lit
i just got my yorkie, he is seven weeks old & is having a bit of trouble using the potty on the puppy pad buttttt he’s getting better with these tips ! thank you ❤️
Thank you for this video. There seems to be a ton on videos on training meduim and large breeds, but not much for us toy breed owners and this was very detailed and informative. So helpful for my little Kiki who is a 1 and 3/4 lb Pom and is set to be around 4.5 lbs when fully grown.
I'm getting my very first teacup yorkie soon!!!♡♡♡
This is so informative and great help for those that would like to house train. I used a corner in the house for Coby when i first got him but he likes going outside better. Thanks for sharing this information! 🙂
Kay Renee no problem!! Thank you so much for watching!!
There are many factors in potty training methods. One plan I found that succeeds in merging these is the Perfect Potty Path (check it out on google) without a doubt the best remedy i've seen.Check out all the extraordinary information .
I'm getting a yorkie in 6-7 weeks I can't get it sooner because it was just born on Saturday so exited to get it and he is a male baby and I have another dog but not a yorkie but I love this channel
awesome! congrats. thanks for watching
Thank you! i was trying to look for a video that explains well and you explained it very well im getting a dog very soon and i am really happy that i finally get a dog and i hope this works!!!!!
Thank you for your advice, I’m fixing to be a dog mom of two baby yorkies. Your videos help so much.
I have two 6 months old Yorker an I am having no luck.
Love this, love you, and your babies!!!
MY YORKIE NEEDS THIS TYSM FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO
Excellent video!
Your video was excellent. Thank you so much. I will follow all of your suggestions and it was also very good to see your set-up. I love your little Yorkies. Thanks again.
thank you for watching!
Could you give a link to buy the same crate that you have in this video please?
This is the best video. I did this to a tee and she was trained in 2 months. Thank you!!
Yay! I am happy we were able to help!
I enjoy your videos, you are so pretty, and your Yorkies are adorable. ty for sharing.
Aw thank you so much for watching!! I appreciate the support!
I have been looking for a video on indoor potty training for a while and This has been the most helpful video! I have watched it multiple times! great video! Thank you!
Thanks loads for an awesome video, totally agree 100 percent with everything you said.
Thanks for sharing as I will be needing this info. in the near future; Love me some Yorkie.
What a great dog owner you are!
What puppy pads do you use please? I want to use one I can clean and wipe down rather than disposable ones x
This is a very good video. Very informative. Thank you!
My yorkie, when he sees a peepad, he tears it apart like it is paper.
Same 😂
laura chamberlain my too. Ja ja
I cry and I 😂 lol
They play with blue pad ,my both Maltese,
My puppy does the same thing
Thanks for the helpful video!
Excellent video, Thanks!
Thank you. Very informative ty ty ty ty again
Thank you for this! I'm 1 week into a 9 week mini poodle, and the peeing accidents is driving me crazy 🤣. I do give her too much freedom to walk around the house, so confining her space is something I'll work on!
I did that with my Pomeranian when she’s was a baby but when she turn 5 months old my apartment smells so I retrained my Pomeranian out in the patio and she’s doing great and no more smells in side the apartment ,my Pomeranian is 4 pounds 6 months old and now she’s free and let me know when she wants to go out and the tip is give then treats and love ❤️
She still using the potty pad out because my patio is a balcony😊
Thank you for the advice! one of the best vidoes ive watched! Do you think the same method of creating a potty area helps with older/adopted dogs as well? Most of the videos seem to be specifically for puppies. Thank you!
Hi,
Thank you for a wonderful video, so helpful ❤️1 I do have a few questions though.
Great video! Thanks for the info.
Love the intro!
Thank you. I just bought a yorkie today
The new intro video, girl! I loveeee it!
" a crapton of poop and whole pissy pee pad" hahahahha- you are so funny!
thank you!!!
haha!! It is the truth. Marley is so boujee that if there is even a little poop on the pad he won't go on it. he will wait until I clean it now lol. He is too much!
