Fun fact: Bob Saget was the first stand-up comedian Norm MacDonald had ever seen live. It's nice to know they're together again
Is that true? I thought it was Letterman because Norm said he saw him when he was 13.
@@WestVirginiaWildlife No shit? Sounds like a fun place if they are there
Dude just rapid fired funny jokes for 3 minutes straight.
i know right? Its like my heart kept tingling and he made it go faster and faster with the nonstop jokes, but i really enjoyed this style, it felt authentic and unique.
Only Bob Saget could be absolutely filthy and not swear once.
And apparently someone at ABC thought he would be perfect as Danny Tanner lol
It started with a morning show he hosted with Mariet Hartley. I think his stand up was off their radar. They saw his all American quality and ran with it.
@@ryanrivera7217 Depends on who you talk to.
I think the point the OC is making is what a weird leap that was to make of the casting agent had seen his comedy, but I think they saw him on the morning show he hosted before Full House vs seeing his comedy. He had a pretty wholesome feel on that show, too. His first child was born so the show really pushed the new, young father angle.
He certainly fulfilled expectations on screen, but there are stories from the set about things he said and did around the children that upset a lot of people.
@Lauren BIG MAMA Doughty I couldn't see anyone else doing the "Danny Tanner" role. The closest thing that comes to mind is that bit that Tim Allen did on Home Improvement- but still no where close. Full House gave you the "real" feel of things to the point to where the acting on some level wasn't fake.
I'm more surprised to consider America's Funniest Home Videos... he didn't really do much in that show other than tell the judges to tabulate votes... this three minute clip seems to have more value than all my childhood memories of him on that show.
Holy crap, he's ripping on the audience for liking his joke and pulling it off perfectly. I've never seen this before, this is amazing!
I didn't even know a comedian could get away with doing that. It seemed that the number one rule is "don't tell a gay joke in a gay bar" - e.g. don't alienate the audience. How he got away with that is beyond me.
I just got to see him live a couple days ago and probably half of his set was just him roasting audience members.
I'm ashamed to say this is my first time watching early Bob saget stand up. Man he absolutely killed it. So funny. May he rest in peace.
No one said they were, your ignorant mindset is why people are so dam soft these days.
@@user-nt3bi4fd5i it's a fucking joke. Take it as a fucking joke. You snowflake
“I read that. I did! I wrote it down, and then I read it.” A dead simple joke, but so funny. Rest easy, Bob.
Only a frickin LEGEND could make a crowd fall in love with him in just 3 minutes
Bob said once that his set was actually 15 minutes, but Rodney edited it to 3 minutes to give more time to Sam Kinison.
His stand up was not talked about often but quick witted, creative, a little raw, and definitely funny. RIP Bobby

How can you describe his standup act as "quick witted" if every joke is written ahead of time? Witty? Absolutely. Quick witted? Not really.
@@chunkycheeze1067the short example of him calling out the guy who clapped at his mum being a stripper joke is enough proof he’s quick witted, you don’t get to be a successful comedian without being quick witted
The beginning of a long and prosperous career, RIP bob saget
@Why The Hell Was I In Star Trek 6? No, pedophile jokes were around with him far too long--except he wasn't joking.
Weird how you guys like that....
I never knew he was such a skilled comedian. RIP.
He was actually one of my favorite stand up comedians since the late 90s
"I have the brain of a German Shepherd and the body of a 16 year old boy.
Both are in the trunk of my car if anyone wants to see them?"
Bob Saget.
{R.I.P big fella}
a 45 minute set in just 3 minutes and 30 seconds
Never knew Bob Saget had this side but holly hell that was incredible. Going to have to find all of his sets now.
Imagine if they gave Bob free range for Danny Tanner. Full House would have been everything but wholesome.
@@EmbassyNerdcore oh they aint even born agains, Candace Cameron was a holy roller for the start
Honestly it makes his raunchy comedy even more hilarious. Obviously Bob isn't Danny Tanner, but when you're used to seeing him as a wholesome father then you see his stand up and where it goes it just makes it all the more hilarious. This man was a legend and he will be missed.
This was flawless. Absolutely jam packed 3 solid minutes of laughs.
He slayed the shit out of that set! What a legend!
Bob really loves his parents you can see it in all his performances. RIP Bob.
Im nuts over her,....she's this tall 😂😂😂
The fact that his act has been telling these pdo jokes all these decades and he's still doing it...
Rest In Peace, Bob. This is my earliest memory of him. I lived for Rodney's young comedian special on HBO.
Saw this when I was 7 when it aired. The entire special was so funny my cousin recorded it and we watched it for years. As soon as I heard he died this was the first thing I thought of.
Same here. I had this recorded in crap quality on a vhs tape somewhere. Nice to see it again in good quality. RIP Bob.
@@daveidmarx8296 I was just telling my wife my dad who passed away in 95 had this recorded in vhs. I found it in 97 and my friends and I would laugh all night watching this. What’s funny is that my friend said is that Danny tanner?
is it me or did Full House rob us of some pretty decent stand up??
It actually did.
Bob Saget was known to be a very x-rated stand up comic, known for his very risqué humour.
Fans of his stand up were quite shocked to see him play the father in a very clean cut family comedy.
He's tried coming back with his old humour but people just refuse to see him as anything other the actor from Full House
He made his choice.
His stand up was very good. But I will never blame him for cashing in on the $$$$$
@@joe3804 Sagat was like Dangerfield & Jeselnik had a mutant baby disguised as an extremely upstanding nice looking guy.
@@savioblanc He def. could have been one of those comics that made comedy albums that the kids had to hide from their parents in the 80's. Sigh what could have been
Got to see Bob several years ago in Boston. He was disgustingly hilarious.
You're lucky! I did see Sam Kinison in Sacramento. Was very coked out, and 2 hours late, due to fog in San Francisco..
He was actually a really good comedian with twisted jokes. That was great.
It sounds like he’s trying to do Rodney Dangerfield at the start.
K Kundera like music you can always spot comedic influences
As an opener it’s typically asked if you to set the tone so if he was opening it’s NK surprise he started with a Rodney Style performance for the same reason he would if he was closing(which I pray a pro like Rodney wouldn’t do that to a young Bob but hey what do ik) to ease into the crowd. Starting a stand up performance as a new comic people don’t “Trust” or “know” your style yet so you have to start from a recognizable position and then ease them into the pot(your comedic flow(the frog and hot water experiment reference))and then after a few shows with such big names(Rodney Dangerfield) your style would eventually get picked up and as the commenter before me said “influence” the new up and comers will adopt his style somewhat with their own adaptations until it helps their young careers reach their OWN style that works in clubs for them, and then they have openers/closers and the process repeats itself.
Someone put this man in a family sitcom!
@@derekford7230 I thought it was fresh prince, he looks like uncle phil

The start of a career.
RIP Bob. One hell of a comedian.
This is hilarious and timeless. What an absolute gem of a human being.
A legend. The world already misses Bob and its only been a few days.
His “G.I. Don’t know” joke was ahead of its time
It's always been around. Just back then people laughed about it, now they call crusades.
I remember watching this with a bunch of friends when it aired on HBO back in 1984. Brings back a ton of memories. Rip Bob. You made America smile.
Long before CZcams or streaming. You had to sit your ass down in front of the TV or you’d miss it. Unless you had a VCR, or they happened to air it again. I remember getting so upset if I missed a show, because I couldn’t just watch it wherever and whenever I wanted.
He's pretty good honeslty
A watched this last night, coming back to it after the news. RIP
Just came here after hearing about his passing. RIP Bob, now you and Rodney can tell each other jokes in paradise.
I live abroad. This is the first time I have ever seen Bob Saget, and now he's gone. I just laughed myself silly and suddenly I feel super sad. Rest in peace, you clever guy.
I didnt even know about his stand up until today...RIP to a freakin hilarious dude
Wow wow wow this blew me away how good this was. RIP Bob you legend
RIP Bob Saget. An underrated comedic genius
RIP Legend. You were a great father in Full House and an even more hilarious comedian. Rest well champ.

This was on HBO and was the first time I ever saw Bob. Almost hurt myself laughing. RIP, Bob.
RIP Bob. Thank you for the laughs in childhood to adulthood.
I always was a fan of full house & only knew of him from that but watching this has me sad from what I’ve missed out on. So funny, charming, kind & rebellious. Gone too soon, thank you Bob for making my childhood what it was. ❤️
