Just unboxed the 2020 model of XT1, 42" but with EFI. It was sent from out of state by Home Depot. Similar experience to you, but used a sawzall to disassemble the entire crate including the base. Also the delivery guy had removed the pallet from underneath. Two glitches in the assembly process, first being the hood topper which, same as yours, was a slight misfit at the rearwards T-clips .. just enough to require manhandling to get them into place. Second, the battery had low juice, only enough to produce a click -- required jumping to get the engine going. Two more comments: the mower comes with a front bumper which is nice but requires some time to install; and the tires are over-inflated at the factory. The rear tires were up to 20 psi but are rated just 10 psi. Had to depressurize. Front tires were just slightly over the recommended 14 lbs.

Remember to lower tire pressure to 14 front and 10 rear. This will effect your cutting height.

Tip, put the steering wheel on the splines, but don’t install the steering bolt until you drive around the yard once or twice to make sure the mower is going in a straight line, then line up the steering wheel and bolt it on.

You should read the manual. Brute force and rush work never pay off. I can only imagine what the kids toys at Christmas time look like after they’ve been smashed together during assembly. Really nice mower tho.

The unboxing is all worth it when the mower is cutting that grass with ease.

Im ordering mine soon. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the rest of us. Never mind the negative nannies. I really appreciate you taking the time to upload your video and giving us an idea of what to expect. Thanks!

Unbolting the top and sides using a 1/4” nut driver, makes crate removal much easier.
Wish the steering wheel was a little softer.
Should hook up negative terminal last. Unhook negative terminal first.

LOVE it! a real person doing a real world unboxing. I'm sure I will be doing the same thing when mine comes. Right now I'mm thinking my sazall will work great on the bottom of the crate. Thanks for the fun

This was comical. Well, that's one way to get it off the crate. I'll probably do the same haha. Thanks for the video. It helped!

I have one more delayed comment after originally watching your video. It's only 5 days after you uploaded the video so it may not be too late. I would keep the shipping brace that you removed from the deck discharge chute deflector around the 20 minute mark. There are a lot of times when I would like to be able to prop open my chute while working on the mower, but I don't have the shipping brace. My installation was performed for me, and the dealer removed it before delivery. I would try to dig it out of the trash if still possible. After watching your video, it prompted me to ask my salesman to try to locate one for me at the dealership.

@@Coolvo113I got an email back from my salesperson stating that Cub Cadet has a strict policy that dealerships cannot provide the shipping braces to the customer for any reason because of safety. I went out to the garage and started to experiment with some bungee cords. I found that 24"-30" can securely hook on where there is the sharp bend in the chute on the rear side then loop around the drive pedal and circle back to the starting place. It's definitely helpful to get the chute out of the way when changing blades on the right hand side, as well as installing a mulch plug or the bagger chute. I'm always fighting with the chute to keep it out of the way when I perform those tasks.

I usually mow with the brace in place. Unless I need to tame the grass chute exit near object.

Thanks for your video. I have a Cub Cadet XT2 model that was manufactured in October, 2018, but I took delivery of it from a dealer in May, 2019. They performed most of the installation, so I found it interesting to watch you install most of what was done for me. I double checked their installation after delivery, and the only thing that I changed was the height of the deck wheels. Presumably, they mounted them high up so they would not get scuffed up during delivery. Regarding your wife's question at 11:18 about why is there only one bolt underneath the seat when it looks like there should be two more. Mine is exactly the same way. I also wondered about that when I first lifted up the seat. The seat seemed to operate properly and adjust without them, so I ultimately concluded the other two bolts weren't necessary. It would be interesting to know the perspective of the engineers who designed it.

The 18 HP Is ok for flat ground. My yard has hills, so I got a 23 HP. FUNNY thing is I still use only half throttle.

When it comes to the quality of outdoor power equipment, they make them cheap with plastic parts these days. I learned that their transmissions are made of plastic.

I have the same year & model. Mine came fully assembled, the only thing I had to do was hook up the battery, It helps to raise the mowing deck before you drive off the crate! I saved the plastic cover which has a drawstring, perfect for covering up the tractor. Tip.... I also have the plow for snow removal and leave the deck in place . I found that extra mid weight ideal. Instead of using the shipping "brace" I drilled a small hole in the end of the chute and hook in a bungee cord attached under the seat while plowing snow. Did you deflate the tires? Per the owner's manual the tires are shipped over inflated (I suppose so you can drive over the crate cross members) Check on the tire sidewalls for the proper psi.
