    GEE Indian came out in 1913 with 8 Valve Engine. Good job HD, all the investment you been putting into those Chinese Factory's that make your apparel have done a fine job of fabricating all your parts for your assembled in America bikes.

    I would like to see the gas flap door on the touring models turned around so it flips ahead instead of back so it is easier to fill your gas tank without the gas flap door being in the way.

    I do have one question. What makes it a financial advantage to ship the parts to York for assembly, rather than finish the bike right there in Milwaukee?

    • @vector6977
      @vector6977 Před 6 lety +1

      Dedicated engine assembly plant. York literally does everything else down to stamping the sheet metal and forming the plastic and fiberglass parts.

    I have owed 40-50 Harley's, flat head, pan heads, shovels, evos, sportsters. This sounds crazy but the last ten years I have been riding rice burners because I like to go fast sometimes. Have you considered building a fast bike?

  • @jayfed4331
    @jayfed4331 Před 8 lety +3

    Ya right im glad harley is trying to update the engine and all but they have had alot of time do so and really never tried to address the fatal flaws in them for all the years they held sway in market. The thunder stroke 111 by Indian is a masterpiece and now that harley has real competition again and sales are dipping they are trying to throw a moderately updated engine onto the market and say "hey look what we did". Polaris did i right by buying the brand and designing a power plant from the ground up and giving people a motorcycle that not going to have planned breakdown at 5000 miles. I think this is a case of to0 little too late. If harley truly wants to hold the market in the yrs to come they need to rethink who they are and how they got there and not just say o well we are the brand everyone knows sell more Tshirts no body will want a bike that never breaks down so they can look cool working on it in the driveway everyday instead of riding it how will indian sell all the tshirts leather garbage and other crap if their bikes dont break down and they dont have to vist the dealership every week

    • @jayfed4331
      @jayfed4331 Před 8 lety

      Tony Vasconcelos im talking about cam chain tensioners that are made with rubber boots that have no place inside of any machine and the fact that they do not tell you that if they are not replaced then they will fail im talking about the fact that almost every family member i have with one needs a heat shield for there leg. I could also talk about the fact that the cylinder heads are not offset for a bike that relies on air cooling of them!!! or the fact they hold only a couple quarts of oil im just saying they could have done a better job of holding the market with quality not just "o well we are the only american cruisers out there" thats why indian is going to retake the market

    • @tony2227
      @tony2227 Před 8 lety +1

      Jay but everyone knows that Harley isn't the best engine ... I know that and I wish that I couldn't of seat in traffic without worry yes BUT even with all the flaws that you are mentioning they are still the bike that people like
      You see what you fail to see is that no always the best bike is the winner ....
      With that said I love competition ...because if Indian or victory comes out with better bikes Harley has no choice but to make something better and that's the beauty of open markets ....now Harley has to come out with better stuff ...I really don't see them overtaking them but better for us he consumers now we have more choices I am sticking with my Harley but I wouldn't mind and Indian at all. As long it's American I am ok

    What size cam does the Milwaukee eight come with out of the factory?

  • @lawrencekauderer4637
    @lawrencekauderer4637 Před 8 lety +3

    Harley Davidson works very hard to produce high quality, modern, and attractive products. The Milwaukee eight is another example of this. As I was watching this video, I thought to myself, let's see how long it takes until people make demeaning and obnoxious remarks, my question was quickly answered. It's very easy to make sarcastic one liners. To these people I ask, what have you produced, what qualifies you to nit pick. Have you established a company that has showed tremendous resilience and tenacity for the last 113 years and has a worldwide fan base with the most loyal customers of any brand? Until you have accomplished anything of significance, keep your mouth shut.

    • @Sig721Tau
      @Sig721Tau Před 8 lety

      What qualifies most buyers like myself is precisely that, I am the consumer who pays a s**t ton of money for their bikes and I want it to perform better than their cheaper competitor, Japanese motorcycles. We want a quality product that doesn't fall flat on its face during the torque curve when out riding. HD is not 100% American made and over charges their customers for an outdated engine design. Victory and Indian have Harley beat by several miles in terms of performance, handling, and reliability.

  • @dejonsmall9886
    @dejonsmall9886 Před 8 lety +11

    Instead of building a new engine, how about fixing the shi%ty cranks, install Timken bearings again? There are a lot of improvements that Harley should be doing. In memory of Harley-Davidson Motor CO. 1903-1999 Died From Greed.

    • @tony2227
      @tony2227 Před 8 lety

      Well the new engine should have that fix
      It's all capitalism man it's better for them to make you buy a brand new bike than to fix the one you already have ... If they fix it to perfection you will die with your bike and they don't want that,,, they want you to go and spend money Ina new one.... Me ,,, I'll keep my 09 Harley for now.

    • @Sig721Tau
      @Sig721Tau Před 8 lety

      I agree with you, Freddy Grey. Harley Davidson always makes a bigger engine to fix the current, existing motor's problems. These issues are overheating, shaking like a freight train, and performance characteristics falling flat on its nose. Their bikes' torque and horsepower drops dramatically on a dyno like a curved pattern, downward.

  • @brianzaborowski2724
    @brianzaborowski2724 Před 8 lety +5

    Highest quality products for your customers???? .... yeah right, like cheap pressed-together cranks, compensators that don't last and cheap chinese wheel bearings that you must change almost every time you mount new rubber and don't forget the endless recalls. I think you guys traded high quality for high profits in your pockets a long time ago. So how many recalls will you have on these new batch of clutches? Wow, 2 plug, 4-valve technology with (only partial) half-assed liquid cooling .... welcome to yesterday! ... that has been around for decades in other bikes that have fully liquid cooled engines. I guess you're saving a FULL liquid cooled engine for ten years from now so you can debut another "new" engine?

    • @Odessa45
      @Odessa45 Před 8 lety +1

      Radiators are for cages and ricers.

    • @Sig721Tau
      @Sig721Tau Před 8 lety +3

      You can keep your hot (overheating), violent shaking, and outdated bike. While, the rest of us will be sitting nice and cool at stop lights with our liquid-cooled; performance oriented motorcycles. Most Harley riders, at least when I had my Dyna Sport Bob, were assholes to other non-harley riders simply because they were on a bike that they did not like. Btw, my bike came with a stock 96ci engine.

  • @artsbest1
    @artsbest1 Před 8 lety

    Jared, why doesn't HD offer their new Milwaukee-Eight 114 (114 cubic inches, or 1,870cc) in the Breakout model or any other series that Harley produces? I don't get it. You want bragging rights from a-z then you offer up your best/latest.
    GM is doing it via their new Camaro. Going toe-to-toe HP-wise with their fixture, Vette, line-up.

      Dude I hear you... But is capitalism it's the rule they are in it to make money .. If they were making perfect engines people wouldn't buy new bikes nothing last that's how they keep you buying their product .. I like Harley I like the sound I like their bikes ... I think Indian has better looking bikes ( although I think the softail are looking sick) but I like Harley .. Either way I'll say buy whatever you want BUT if could buy American doesn't matter what just buy American and ride ...
