  • Unanchored wood can be a more affordable and effective strategy if particular criteria are met with respect to the size and shape of the wood,
along with specific conditions of the stream reach such as flows, bed material, sediment supply, channel morphology and riparian vegetation.
We present definitions and guidelines on the use of unanchored wood in stream habitat projects.
Hydraulic modeling is an essential part of understanding the potential effects of engineered logjams (ELJs). As with all modeling it is important
to be clear about project goals and questions, as well as the desired resolution of predictions. Techniques and tools for modeling ELJs will be
    discussed during this session.
