Cavett was sometimes too ingratiating to guests by half, I agree. And sometimes too calculatingly "witty", self-congratulation via fake self-deprecating humor. If you are the smartest guy in the room, you shouldn't telegraph your opinion. Still and all, he is a smart well-read guy and a good interviewer. He chose interesting guests and allowed them to expand their statements in a long format. Miles was a musical genius who was also an obnoxious person. He was indulged by fellow muiscians in his antics. Great artists are not always nice pepole. John Lennon and Woody Guthrie come to mind. C'est la Vie.

After many listens, it is now hands down one of my most cherished albums ever. Experimental, sprawling, angular, dark, yet it grooves like nobody’s business. The magic that’s created within the interplay of each musician is uncanny and a true sonic journey. Truly one of the most unique, bizarre, and original pieces of art ever created. It opened my mind up to so many other forms of experimental music and all types of jazz.
