Michael Caine's John Wayne impression

- Caine does himself, John Wayne and talks about his relationship with the Duke @ Viennale 2012
be sure to checkout another clip from this interview:
Michael Caine about Nolans Batman: • Michael Caine about No... - Zábava
I met a retired stuntman at his trucking office in 1981. He was a stuntman in 21 of Wayne's films with photos on the wall to prove it. He said "Mr Wayne" was a very kind and generous man to everyone. When out for dinner he always picked up the check. When filming in Mexico he took over the little towns they filmed in. It meant a lot to the people in these towns that worked on the films.
Was that Stuntman MIKE or his brother Stuntman BOB ??
Having fun, but showing great respect for John Wayne. Michael Caine will always be one of the best.
Michael Caine has never forgotten where he came from.
The Duke and Michael, two of my all-time favorites! What a great interview!
Sir Michael Caine, one of the UK’s finest. Love his storytelling.
Not many people know that.
John Wayne and Micheal Caine two of my favorite actors!
The brilliant Michael Caine. Could listen to him for ages.
you - cleen Ah, but you have been.

What a great storyteller. The image of Duke in a dressing gown and cowboy hat will stay with me forever.
Caine’s memoir is one of the best books ever about Hollywood, he arrived at just the right time when the old studio system was ending and a new group of actors, like him, were coming in. So he saw the best of both worlds.
Great book!
My grandmother is in his book :)
How these old actors have so much class compared to actors of today ,I like the British actors they always come across as humble
Another one of my favorites. He actually served in the British army in combat.
A two minute Michael Caine story is better than a half hour of most comedians.
I could just sit and listen to Michael Caine all night!!!
Michael Caine will be appreciated as one of the greatest actors of all time. Nobody so natural... and unique!
Caine is good, and possibly unique. But natural he's not!
You'll never be able, never ever, to realize just how invaluable these Michael Caine storytelling sessions are, simply never. Thank you so much, samandriel!

Narcissist do make the best storytellers
I really appreciate his John Wayne stories. It is nice to know that the Duke died with his boots on (almost).
How can you not love this man.
The amazing thing about his anecdote about meeting Jane Russel and John Wayne is that he was a genuine fan of these two great actors. And, now, he has outclassed them. The fan becomes the legend himself. Great show Sir Caine
How has he outclassed them? Please elabortate.
Outclassed Jane Russell? I'd like to see him doing "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" in the courtroom scene from "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes".
John Wayne was always playing himself not a great actor...@@dougbrowne9890
You mean Sir Michael should do drag? He probably could!@@skakdosmer
...you are delusional, seriously. But I believe that you already knew that...
Mr Caine is a UK national treasure. What a life. Good man.
Loved him as the LT in Zulu. Bloody hell!!!
I loved him in that film where he killed all those pedofiles back in the early 70s and that other one with the severed hand that escapes from the deep freeze and goes round molesting poor innocent students

👄
"UK national treasure"
yet another one.
We certainly punch above our weight dont we.
Harry Brown - he kicked some ass in that film - I watched it in prison and all the lads were cheering on Caine even if most of them were the type of young men who Harry Brown was punishing.

A legendary actor talking about a legendary actor. It wouldn't be difficult to listen to Michael Cain all day.
Agree.
great stories from a great actor. Most actors are so full of themselves but his stories about Wayne shows the nature of his background and upbringing.
love Michael Caine. He's always great in whatever movie he's in.
Wonderful Actor and genuinely nice person a joy to watch and listen to.
Nice to hear some kind words about The Duke, from another Hollywood/film icon. Far too many ridicule John Wayne, for too many bad reasons. Big fan of Michael Caine and John Wayne!!!
Nice of John Wayne to say what pretty well every school kid that was forced to 'study' Shakespear was thinking!
@@jwrobin21 hahahahahahaha...thanks for that :D
The only ones who ridiculed the Duke are the very envious (& mentally ill)
john wayne was a total fake

The great English actor telling great tales of the greatest American actor. This is one of the best videos on youtube. To me. Fascinating.
I think Bogart was best... but, your best pilot.
The "greatest American actor" ?!?! He was mediocre at best. He played the exact same character in every single one of his films. He was good at playing "John Wayne" and that's about it.
So? John Wayne was a big fucking bad-ass and played that part very well. Not the greatest actor I'll give you. But he is the only actor I know that I enjoyed every movie of his that I have seen without exception. He definitely deserved his Academy award.
John, . . .no.
To a generation that thinks Leonardo DeCrapio is a great actor, it's hard to appreciate the true awesomeness of John Wayne.
We all love Michael Caine
That was GREAT! Especially at the end ... When he speaks about John Wayne passing.
JW pissing ?
Michael Caine, arguably one of the best active British actors.........sharing memories of arguable one of the greatest icons of American cinema ever. I love this video!!!! Oh how I wish he'd share more!
Oh Michael, always had a soft spot for the Waynes.

Michael tells great stories. Very much like David Niven. Such a great guy AND actor.
one of my all time movie heroes Mr Michael Caine as well as who he impersonates John Wayne, bloody marvelous this, thanks for uploading it :-)
Thanks for uploading this
Michael Caine, nice man
I'm glad he saw "The Trip." That's the best scene. "She was only sixteen yeahs-owed."
Michael Caine impression the trip
Could listen to him for hours. What a wonderful interesting man.
A living legend. Thats for sharing!
Wow....what a great story about 2 of my favorite actors...
Such a relief to be totally entertained by someone with REAL talent and PERSONALITY and CHARM bravo 👏
who ever puts this stuff up is a genius
Jon Gatward
The world needs more Michael Caines!
The best John Wayne I ever heard was by John Wayne when he played the centurion in"The Greatest Story Ever Told:" "Truly this Man was the Sonna Gaht..."
I never realized how much John Wayne sounds like Michael Caine
Love Michael Caine! Wish I could meet him!
+Michael Smith He was filming across the street from my home about 5 years ago and signing autographs and chatting to people. He was even spotted in a local newsagents buying a paper and again chatting to people. I was indoors writing and never knew he was about 50 yards away from me. Never saw him. Kicked myself for a week!
What a great little story about John Wayne, I'll never forget it, that's how much of a fan I am.
lovely guy seems real down and to earth and not lost the run of himself.i'd love to meet him.
ed campion If what you wrote is who you believe him to be, I’m sure your Perception of what kind of human being he is would lie in shambles if you really did know him at all. Haha
Me too
I remember James Caan being interviewwd at a premier years ago, and the interviewer said, at the end of the interview, "You seem like a really nice guy". to which James replied, "I always try to come across as a nice guy when I'm being interviewed in front of millions of people". Don't forget these people are very good at assuming a role. It's their job.

That's hilarious I just love it! Thanks for sharing!
The last of the great Hollywood actors to embody class and sophistication!
I keep hoping Geo. Clooney, Matt Damon will join thoze ranks. Alec Baldwin got close then his hidden pluperfect liberal came out.
@@wagnerpd5921 Now that Baldwin is responsible to killing someone, with a loaded gun, don't expect him joining any ranks. Clooney and Damon are fools.
Always funny and a great entertainer not just actor - could watch him for hours . Must have heard his story about suede shoes a dozen times .
Wow,what great stories this gentleman has, may you have many more birthdays Mr Caine, and am a big fan of yours by the way.

Great clip, thanks
Awesome interview
"Gambit" was a stupendous movie.
Wasn't it?
I finally was able to see the whole thing for the first time when it recently aired on TCM. Terrific movie!
@@m.t.fisher4655 Michael Caine was young then, and was only warming up for his subsequent stupendous performance in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." He and Shirley were hilarious together in Gambit.
This is great!! What a great wit Michael has!!!
Wow - Michael Caine is just an amazing talent.
having listened to Michael Caines Elephant to Hollywood on audiobook I know he tells a great story which kept me very entertained for many miles out running, he really is a national treasure.
International treasure!
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was a great movie, one of Caine's best I think..
Try, "The Man Who Would be King."
One of the best movies of all time.
Also, check out "Without a Clue", where Michael Caine plays Sherlock Holmes.
THAT WAS A REMAKE OF MARLON BRANDO AND DAVID NIVEN MOVIE.....................
@@RoninTXBR549 Marvelous film, and not a lot of people know that
Love this, it's so honest.
He is so lovely, a great entertainer
It's funny how Michael describes Jane Russell as " getting on a bit" when he met her because I reckon she would have been in her mid-40s at that time. Now, moving on to the present time. Imagine Julie Roberts or Nicole Kidman - who are now both older than Jane was back then -being described as " getting on a bit" I bet they would be mortified.
exactly because neither of THEM are spring chickens anymore
@@MTknitter22 BUT, are they getting on a bit? AND, remember, they are now at least 5 yrs older than Jane was back then.
Love that impression 👍👍
John Wayne was the greatest American Icon of all time, period
Thank you !!
Sir Michael Cain has left quite a legacy as one of the best actors ever and nothing but pure class.
Love Michael Caine. First remember seeing him in Blame it on Rio.
Love the story and mr Caine respect all ways ❤️❤️❤️🙏👍🎥🎥best actor ever we can all learn from the greatest artist 🙏⭐️
his such a nice bloke, and a good actor.
Thank you Master Wayne!!!
I've always loved him in all his roles, The Batman movies, Blame in on Rio, etc. Funny, funny stuff about Jane Russell being the Christian Scientist and John Wayne's advice to not wear the suede shoes. If I'm ever famous I'll remember that
Love Sir Michael. Great movies.
Very funny man and a great story teller . He was always on Parkinson because he knew Michael Caine was a great guest .
Marvelous actor and now I know he is also a marvelous man
A fascinating and endearing man
Michael Caine is a sweetheart. And you'd be surprised how often in Hollywood the bigger the star the nicer they are. It's not 100%, but it's more often than you think.
Nice to know. Wuz a time when the writers ensconced in Gollywood tried to warn us... like in film Soylent Green. Educated & word-smiths in WW2\ Korea writers worked in military intelligence. Syriana got close.
You obviously don’t know him.. haha
Michael Caine is incredible just for the fact that he is in demand today as he was when he was in his twenties. He just morphed into character acting. Average gent with a superior talent.
I've never heard him tell the Storey about being friends with John Wayne. I've heard the helicopter and shoes one but not the hospital one. He's one of the greats. Recommend Harry Brown.
love the John Wayne stories
the best duke wayne impression i ever heard pilligrim
The Goodnight ranch is about 30 miles East of here, Amarillo, The ranch house still looks the same, it has been restored to just as it was then, very interesting,Thanks
actually they admit its NICER now than it was !
Love him!
Tried to think a few days ago of the celebrity we'll miss the most when they leave us... It's Michael Caine.
I'm sorry. I was distracted by the half masticated cow rolling around in your wide...open.....TRAP.
Michael Caine was great in the movie "Secondhand Lions."
Underrated movie
Caine and Wayne, great guys.
A British gentleman as always. No disparaging remarks even in his illustrious career. Probably why Mr. Caine is one of my favorite actors. Zulu is still my favorite movies an in my opinion his better roles.
Wow.Very good.
Michael Caine, born 14 March 1933 at the Elephant & Castle which is where I live. This is how we talk here.
Michael Cain... My cocaine
a masterclass .
Robin Williams did the best John Wayne impression.
Caine's wasn't bad.
isnt it grt this perl can be shared with the world forever
I was transfixed. Michael Caine is a brilliant story teller. Shame they couldn't have had him do Jackanory when it was on, it would have been spectacular
Legend
'Legend' is bandied about easily these days but Michael Cain really is one.
This funny, lovely, talented man was once asked by a silly young female reporter, talking about his time as a soldier in the Korean War, if he had killed anyone. His wonderful face froze and he said, " I was a machine gunner. "
Damn, that was good!
@everybody thanks for watching. i have a bit of footage left. I might upload it sometime, if I'm not to lazy.
+samandriel PLEASE PLEASE upload this is wonderful.... thank you
watch him on michael parkinson. he tells lots of stories andmade me laugh so much...Michael even told caine'' I'm the one asking the questions here...! Because when he asked micheal caine a question, caine answers then goes on and on telling his stories..at one point he tells micheal, can i say something? ha ha then continues telling some more stories. Love him, parkinson who is so patient and all their stories.
thank you jessie j

Michael Caine is a great actor.
Peachy's tale is something special.
Sean Connery and Michael Caine
in "The Man Who Would Be King"
(Rudyard Kipling story)
5:02 impression 😂
Caine's most famous line to me "You're only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!". But hey, try and catch a little known movie with him and James Fox in called "Shadow Run" (that's the name for UK audiences. It may be different in the US). Caine plays a ruthless criminal and killer. Onto John Wayne - I idolise his movies. "The Searchers" I believe to be a timeless masterpiece where Wayne gave a performance few actors ever achieve.
Great story from MC...and not many people know that.
GREAT ACTOR!!!!
This is made all the funnier by the fact that, according to an anecdote related by Scott Eyman - John Wayne claimed to have Hamlet memorized (he made that claim right after quoting a passage off the cuff, looking at Heisman trophies and musing on what a piece of work is man...)
Great actor...funny guy too
