These things are basically swamp coolers. They only work with a steady source of dry, meaning low humidity, air. The ancient Persians invented the idea, with towers that would channel dry desert wind down onto a water surface and achieve cooling. It only worked because of an endless supply of dry wind. A swamp cooler in a closed room full of dry hot air will cool until it has made the air humid, then the cooling effect ceases. So you would need to draw air from a very close by window and have low humidity outside, and blow air out another window on the far side for this to keep working. A classic refrigeration-cycle AC does not have this problem. It cools the air in a closed room AND dehumidifies it as well.

As a retired AC tech ( 40 y + ) I m telling you that IT S JUST A WASTE OF MONEY. Buy a real AC instead. All the good reviews are FAKE. Without a compressor, it s NOT possible to do any good.
