    I feel that the masks and the social distancing worked and was needed, for the most part. When someone is sick or coughing, you don’t want to be around them. It was just precautionary and nothing is wrong with that. Hey, we’re still here and alive, so I can’t complain

    I work in the medical field…I took care of people dying from covid - if you’ve never seen it, been up close to someone struggling to breathe from covid, and then you are blessed…it caused me to end my hospital job bc of the stress of being over worked, seeing people die regularly. So imo it should still not be downplayed and what was done was based on scrambling to decrease the deaths. masks definitely helped me when in hospital rooms and people were too sick and weak to cover their mouths while coughing and struggling to breathe

      Agreed. The trauma healthcare workers have from the deaths is unspeakable. I just admitted a Covid pneumonia patient today so do what you think is best for you but Covid is still out there for real. Also, I admitted a long Covid patient that can barely breathe right now, so it’s something to be cautious about, still.

    Dr Fauci didn't change up. He said the social distancing and masking guidelines came from the CDC, not him, and that there was no clinical trial that he could point to saying it was needed.
    He didn't say those things weren't needed or that it was a mistake, just that the CDC never was able to prove it officially. The vaccine, masking, and those guidelines are what saved us in most doctors' and scientists' opinions.

    We gotta remember, Caitlin and Angel are also part of the first class of college athletes to legally get paid (NIL). Meaning they've already made millions while the WNBA women have made pennies for years. Both Angel and Caitlin each made more than their whole WNBA team salary.

      It was amazing to me how many people just decided that common sense and basic respect weren't necessary during that period. Last year, I had to complete a capstone project for my degree. Since it was a distance course, I was required to come to campus. I was amazed when another student casually mentioned she had covid. Like it wasn't nothing. I have asthma, I have no time to play around. I got away from her fast.

    32:12 As a prior military member, who has had countless vaccines over a 20-something year period, I don't fear vaccines as others do. While I was in the military, I never got the flu and was hardly sick. The time I got sick and understood the importance of vaccines is the year following my military retirement -- when I figured I was going to take a break from vaccines. That was the year I caught swine flu and wasn't at all prepared for it. I was out for weeks. I later found out that I, along with some other coworkers, caught it from someone on the job who figured it would be ok to come to work 24 hours after his fever broke. Coming from NYC and I still have family up there, I don't think people understand the seriousness of Covid and the amount of people who did not make it. I've done research on the coronavirus and the herd immunity theory. The concept of herd Immunity is that a virus will naturally weed itself out via vaccination or people developing immunity from past infections. At the start of COVID, that principle wasn't working at all. So I don't have any issues about being asked to wear masks, wash hands, sanitize or keep a distance from others. At my job, people have started to stay home again unless absolutely necessary because people are catching COVID again. People also need to realize that a lot of those infections that are assumed to be wiped out, like small or chicken pox absolutely do pop up every year, so in my opinion, vaccines are necessary.
    Do some research on how Herd Immunity works. Those vaccinations were absolutely necessary in my opinion and people need to stop having a cavalier attitude.

I think most people are frustrated because she didn’t win a championship and somehow continues to outshine the women who did…and that doesn’t sit well with me at all. She was the best player on a team that didn’t win the title, so yes she can be celebrated, but she’s not the sole reason people are watching..and that’s u fair to the actual winners.

    As a black woman that loves basketball & the WNBA… Angel is very much being attacked.. if you go to all of the mainstream sports websites Angel is being targeted very badly.. CC is very cocky and she says all types of stuff on the court. The black media should take up for Angel & uplift her because everywhere she is being torn apart & CC is being uplifted like she does no wrong

    • @lightyagami2294
      @lightyagami2294 Před 2 měsíci +1

      Right, this was a strange take. CC isn’t the great white hope and it’s not like she became amazing out of the blue. Before CC, there was Sabrina, and before than Diana….Folks weren’t interested until the whole hand gesture with Angel, and then she got all the fans who view everything from a white vs black, blue v red lens. The issue is that folks expect everyone to bow down to CC and literally just let her make buckets on some “oops, sorry, didn’t mean to get in your way” “oh heavens, ms Clark, thank you so much for giving my sport relevance.” “Ms. Clark, sorry for trying to block you, please make that three pointer right here” it’s complete bs. All of this controversy smells of racism and sexism. Racism because many of the bandwagon CC fans are the same MAGA crew (peep her boyfriend’s likes on the bird app). Sexism, because this is fucking basketball and the wnba has always been messy and aggressive as hell. People just expect them to act like it’s a tea party because they’re women.
      Cc is a phenomenal player and she’ll probs be one of the greats, but the media is doing entirely too much and needs to let things organically play out

    What's sending me is they're shoving this Caitlin chick down everyone's throat and acting like she single-handedly saved the sport. It's giving "Christina Columbus." And she plays into it because her yt fragility can't handle not getting praise for something.

    • @jendayiKa
      @jendayiKa Před 2 měsíci +4

      She really is that good. If she plays anything like she did in college, we literally will have a Curry type player. And that will be good for the WNBA. They need that type of flavor. And I am a black woman. I only watched the college games when I caught a game by accident. I was like omg, I haven't seen a woman player that type of skillset in ever and got hooked!

    Also, something else to think about. The first warnings of COVID came from a Chinese opthamologist in late 2019 who noticed patients with the same symptoms. The Chinese government tried to suppress doctors speaking out on the coronavirus. That doctor died at the age of 34 from the symptoms of the virus. By the middle of December 2019, several cases of pneumonia like symptoms were connected to the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan China. That market was shut down in January 2020. By late January 2020, the CDC and WHO were involved in tracking the virus. So, the virus started in China in December 2019. By April 2020, the United States numbers of people affected had eclipsed pretty much every other country, including China, where it started. We had close to 600,000 cases. By December 2020 that number was 16 million. China has 4 times our population. So whatever measures the CDC and WHO tried to suggest to keep the pandemic from getting worse should be no issue to people.

    I think what’s missing from the Clark conversation is the fact that CC doesn’t speak up or speak out against the racism and unfair treatment that her Black counterparts are facing. Her rabid MAGA fans do nothing but spew hate online and her response has been she doesn’t pay attention to that stuff online. Well Black women have to protect players like Reese because if we don’t no one will.

    Ppl are upset that Caitlyn is being coddled by the media. They did not show that she started it. Many great athletes have been “bullied” their first few seasons. She doesn’t need to be defended as if she’s a delicate flower. No one in sports media was coming to Angel Reese’s defense like that when she got clotheslined in mid air.
    I love Kash Doll but the only reason they’re saying it’s ghetto and hood rich is because she’s Black. If it was their favorite (yt, non Black POC, light skin) influencer, WAG, housewife, it would’ve been seen as a cool idea.
    Other countries already wear masks when they’re sick or to prevent sickness. They can’t quantify it in numbers. It was just like the Spanish flu. Now we can treat the flu with vaccines and OTC meds.

    Rox, I found footage of WNBA players' modeling "game night" outfits dating back to 2022. Nevertheless, I get your point... there's more of that now. And also, the loudest WNBA detractors should look at the level of play, salaries and the crowd sizes for the NBA in their early years. That league matured overtime... WNBA is still in its early years and will grow.

    Caitlin does play on another level and her records are amazing. She scored the most points of ANY college student in their career. She broke several records in NCAA Division 1. People who ask why she's celebrated didn't follow her career and are either only focused on her race or are the types to simply be mad at the top player (like those who hated on Kobe, Mike, or Lebron). Her accomplishments shouldn't be diminished.

    I think a lot of it is gender as well. Unless the players are egregious like Draymond Green, arguments and fights are tolerated in the NBA, NFL, and NHL. (And even then, look how long it took to really discipline him...) I think subconsciously, many see women in sports and think they should be more restrained and not as competitive and passionate as men.

    Rox, the #1 overall draft pick in football and basket does not overshadow tried and true professionals. They all have to prove them themselves. One of the NBA's superstar in the finals this year got drafted in 2020. It took Ant 4 years to get the noteriety he has now. The last 3 *crickets*. Now if they want to say they are doing what we know they are doing. IE using the drama to put more eyes on the league. Cool but acting like this some supernova white wonan and she gets a pass because she was the #1 is disingenuous at best. No league works like that.

    Many things can be true at the same time. Caitlyn Clark is a trash talker on the court just like the rest of the women. All rookies get pushed around when they get into the league. Candace Parker got roughed up on the court many times her rookie season. Caitlyn needs to get her weight up so she won’t get pushed around so much. She is little compared to the other women. And I’m sure she will. She and Angel have been fantastic for the league, but they are not going to get special treatment on the court. Hopefully, it will all come together because this is a pivotal time and can help the league reach a broader audience.
