s40r is 600w equipped with rear wireless speakers which is the best part, obviously. There is no difference other than that in both the models offcourse s40r has a sound a bit weaker compared to s500rf

Hi to get the Dolby sound through dth we have only option is optical cable from setup box to sub woofer.. But the input option doesn't have optical, it has tv, analog , bt etc....then how can we get Dolby sound in dth hd channels ??? A wireless sub with rear speakers that connect to sub would have made much more sense.. Hdmi and other connectivity options shld have been in the soundbar itself.. Poor design overall..
Sony highlights the product HT-S700rf stating "Real 5.1 Channel" home theatre, however it's a sales gimmick. Logically a home theatre can never give you real 5.1 experience unless there is a clear seperation of front left and right surround speakers and the centre speaker. Manual sound customization options are limited and preset sound options are useless and hardly make any noticable difference. There is no mode of controlling treble output from the tweeters and high frequency soynds are barely audible at normal listening levels. Clearly to save costs Sony has integrated the front surround speakers and centre speaker into a single unit. Hence you cannot distinguish the unique sound effects of the front surround system when watching 5.1 channel movies. This is the first major design flaw of this system. The second big design flaw is people often tend to place the sub-woofer in a place less visible and far from line of vision or away from the television, here however due to the wiring design as well as the display unit which is placed in the sub buyers will be forced to place the subwoofer close to television to enable see the display during use of remote functions. It would have been far more convenient for users to have the display on the central speaker unit or sound bar and I pity Sony designers for lack of basic intellect while designing this home theatre. At almost INR 38,000.00 it's quite expensive for the cheap quality of tweeters and passive radiators which they have provided on this system. It's a shame that at this price point Sony has failed to provide regular speakers to generate the mid level sounds. Without these speakers there is zero generation of mids which is essential to have good quality sound output in any home theatre system. Sony claims a very high level of crisp bass but during my over a week of use of this product the bass sounds below average and nothing exceptional. Sound clarity is pathetic even when playing Blu ray DVDS or watching high quality 5.1 videos on CZcams. The sound quality feels muffled and you feel that somewhere something is missing especially when playing music and while watching movies as well. I own a home theatre which is almost 10 years old with same 1000 watt output but overall sound quality till date is million times better compared to this product. Normally the sub woofer diaphram vibrates rapidly when playing loud bass rich music in good quality woofers giving a punch and thud effect depending on the frequency. In the S700rf the sub woofer lacks that dynamism and sounds effective only in very limited frequencies which is probably due to lack of power or poor tuning of the woofer output. Overall the product is definitely not worth the price and definitely not recommended at this price point, it is better to go for Sony BDV N9200w which is almost double the price at INR 68,000.00 if you can afford the price but I guarantee it sounds absolutely mind blowing with clearly defined 5.1 channel high quality fluidic speakers and cordless tall boy rear speakers, it also comes with a 3D blu ray player. Sony engineers definitely need to pull up their socks and go back to the design boards if they wish to keep up to buyers expectations and provide quality products which Sony is known for over the years...

In my openion Sony RF 500 is one of the best 5 1 channel sound bar . The bass is rich and pulsating without distortion and very clear. The surround effect is very powerful. The performance of this sound bar is exemplary. Overall sound quality is very high. Even if the left and right and centre speakers are integrated, it gives a clear separation of the front left, right and centre speakers. May be if compared with the proper home theatre system such as sony dav 350 , the sound volume may be higher but this soundbar gives a better and clearer sound and vibrant bass. Please check this system in a show room and hear it experience it yourself before commenting so much in length. JBl 5.1 ch sound bar is nothing in front of this soundbar. Criticise JBL for cheating customers pricing their products at prices higher than Sony and delivering inferior quality sound . Many people have made this mistake of going for JBL without comparing with the srf 500 and srf 700 . Sony is the best compared to any other audio systems or HTS and one of the best in the world audio market. People who are investing money in Srf 500 or srf 700 are not fools and majority have an excellent openion . The sound bar has some drawbacks but that has been compensated fairly with the best sound quality and powerful surround sound effect.

I have connected my tv to my laptop via hdmi cable and the laptop is connected to the home theatre via Bluetooth. Every 30-40 minutes the sound stops coming.though the connection still shows as active.what cud be the reason and the solution
KULLLLU brother you can't connect this device to your laptop just through hdmi, laptop doesn't support hdmi arc, hdmi arc is different from simple hdmi as you have been seen from long time! and your laptop Bluetooth opens 24hours and your Sony hometheatre get connected to it by Bluetooth! but you will never get surround sound over Bluetooth, or 3.5mm jack because both path don't suppors digital signals! that's why hometheatres are different from computer multimediaspeakers!
KULLLLU you'll never get the advantage of dolby digital power of this hometheatre if you continuing using it this way! these speakers are generally made for tv setup although you can connect it through a rca 3.5mm cable to your laptop!

@5:30 Regarding mixing of the front with back speakers, there should be no such thing unless you setup it wrong (probably set to wrong settings like Dolby plus instead dts) or there is a serious issue with this soundbar. try to test it using a proper 5.1 sound not a movie or video game.

Tata sky dts hd set top box and PS4 pro (4k)needs to be connected. I have s500rf,and z906 both,z906 attached to pc via optical and s500rf attached to tv via arc,if your priority is watching movies with dolby and dts surrounded audio then go for sony, if your priority is only music then go for z906, but if you have 30k budget, i think one should consider s500rf for after sales service and latest codec supports
@@harith27 the latest video format is HEVC with dolby atmos and 5.1 dolby digital plus, torrent downloads even streaming platforms are using same formats, but optical and coaxial cant support ddp means dolby digital plus format audio, its only supporta dolby digital which is dead now and all dts formats not supported on coaxial and optical, only go for hdmi arc enabeled tv and home theatre system, and please check dts compatability as dts is simply mind bogling, if stereo music is only priority then you can still go for z906, but its important keep update with latest formats

U should check Sony HT IV-300.. Its by far the Best Home Theater System I've ever used, I'm gona be buying one in a day or two, and trust me this third time I'm buying the same Device in the last 5 years. Its lowest price.. Good Sound separation.. U can literally adjust distance and volume of each speakers individually, no other HT can do this in today's time. Multiple HDMI in, Bluetooth, NFC, USB, 4K Output and a lot more.. And 1000W under 25k

See a Soundbar can never replace a Home theatre system, Soundbar drivers in the front will not have much space for the them to move you can see how little the speakers are, were as Center Right and left of a Home theater will.

Dude samsung is 540w and it has lower bass. Sony is 1000w and have very good bass So if u bass lower go with sony . If don't like much bass go with samsung
I know this video is a few years old but I'm wondering is it possible to get those speaker connectors for the back of the subwoofer some place? I bought a SONY HT- S20 which use those connections for the speakers but I want to use the speakers from a HT RT3 which are already wall mounted without the connectors on them for my rear speakers and use the rear speakers that came with the HT S20 for front right and left while using the soundbar as the center speaker. I searched eBay for those speaker connectors and found some that are similar but might not work. The reason why I got rid of the HT RT3 was the loud fan in the back of the subwoofer.

Hello Nice video. You started out well but you still missed out on the back speaker placement issue. Aka wiring. Means if you place on back and you also mentioned about integrated wire. So. Can I cut them and put them. Means I do have my wiring done in the walls. So right now I have Philips 5.1 connected. And I have directly plugged the wall wires in the bass unit. And the wires come out from the back wall connect to the speaker. I hope you get it so can I cut the wire. 2. U also said about no arc pass thru. Anyways keep in mind I am thinking to buy ht r40. . So I will connect my tv arc to this sound bar arc. Works rite?. I have ps4 and cable TV directly connected to tv hdmi normal. Arc I will give to this sound bar. Works . What is the issue? No I do not have a home theatre or anything else to be connected to sound bar. As arc works rite. 3. Do you suggest any other product. In and under 20k 4. Main Q. U also mentioned left and right rear throwing sound of left and right in ps4 spider man gaming. My point is same. And the true point of me buying upgrade is. My Philips do not have audio in spdif or hdmi so. I am not getting true 5.1. If this is the case then can u test it rt40 also. Let me know. Or which product u suggest. Also. Does this soundbar support all audio formats For eg many movie formats (upwards 30+ gb) have rich sound with 7.1 audio or 5.1 dolby atmos. Will this soundbar still support that format?
@@tycoonruler6455 it has tight bass, not much boomy effect like iv300, but to me the bass sometimes overpowering the voice , so i always on voice on mode while dolby digital plus codec, but with dts format it leave it on auto mode, while using bluetoth with sony music centre app on my iphone , it produces so much bass that i have to low the level from 12 to 6

And yes was about to purchase the sony ht s500rf last year right before lockdown but due to a delay of a day now am still confused between choices. Also I had tested the s500rf in croma, however it might be due to large open space the bass or volume felt low.

The rear speakers need to be behind you for a surround effect. Makes no sense for a front setup. If you don't want surround speakers consider getting a soundbar 2.1 setup. Should work well for you.
@@Digit I considered buying a 2.1 setup as well, from Sony too. I noticed the power output is less than half and I am keen on having a central speaker. If I place the speakers in front of me, I may not get a true surround sound experience, however I will get the superb power. Will placing the speakers in front of me be worse than a 2.1 setup? S500rf is way better than iv 300 as the s500rf has clear voice during action sequence,while iv300 has overpowering bass effect which is only blooming not tight like s500rf

Hi I purchased HT S500 RF from local sony center ,after a sony center representative recommended to me , immediately after installing I felt it is mind-blowing ,best under 40000 category ,after connecting to my gaming console I played ghost of tsushima oh my god it's like wandering in tsushima island air blow past behind my ear ,one enemy thowed a bomb to right side of screen and suddenly explosion happened in right surround speaker ,what a heavenly experience ...... Sound is also loud and clear good for hall

@5:30 Regarding mixing of the front with back speakers, there should be no such thing unless you setup it wrong (probably set to wrong settings like Dolby plus instead dts) or there is a serious issue with this soundbar. try to test it using a proper 5.1 sound not a movie or video game.

Nice video. It will be really helpful if you can suggest me between Sony HT S700rf and IV300 and YAMAHA YHT 3072. I have samsung 4k tv. Tata sky dts hd set top box and PS4 pro (4k)needs to be connected. So If I connect all to TV and then TV HDMI ARC to soundbar HDMI will the sound flow for all device including 4K. main Requirement- loud surround sound with deep bass and perfect vocal. The fan starts when the system starts. It picks up speed when heat is generated.

I have s500rf,and z906 both,z906 attached to pc via optical and s500rf attached to tv via arc,if your priority is watching movies with dolby and dts surrounded audio then go for sony, if your priority is only music then go for z906, but if you have 30k budget, i think one should consider s500rf for after sales service and latest codec supports

@@harith27 the latest video format is HEVC with dolby atmos and 5.1 dolby digital plus, torrent downloads even streaming platforms are using same formats, but optical and coaxial cant support ddp means dolby digital plus format audio, its only supporta dolby digital which is dead now and all dts formats not supported on coaxial and optical, only go for hdmi arc enabeled tv and home theatre system, and please check dts compatability as dts is simply mind bogling, if stereo music is only priority then you can still go for z906, but its important keep update with latest formats

See a Soundbar can never replace a Home theatre system, Soundbar drivers in the front will not have much space for the them to move you can see how little the speakers are, were as Center Right and left of a Home theater will.

I know this video is a few years old but I'm wondering is it possible to get those speaker connectors for the back of the subwoofer some place?
I bought a SONY HT- S20 which use those connections for the speakers but I want to use the speakers from a HT RT3 which are already wall mounted without the connectors on them for my rear speakers and use the rear speakers that came with the HT S20 for front right and left while using the soundbar as the center speaker.
I searched eBay for those speaker connectors and found some that are similar but might not work.
The reason why I got rid of the HT RT3 was the loud fan in the back of the subwoofer.

Nice video. You started out well but you still missed out on the back speaker placement issue. Aka wiring. Means if you place on back and you also mentioned about integrated wire. So. Can I cut them and put them. Means I do have my wiring done in the walls. So right now I have Philips 5.1 connected. And I have directly plugged the wall wires in the bass unit. And the wires come out from the back wall connect to the speaker. I hope you get it so can I cut the wire.
2. U also said about no arc pass thru.
Anyways keep in mind I am thinking to buy ht r40. .
So I will connect my tv arc to this sound bar arc. Works rite?. I have ps4 and cable TV directly connected to tv hdmi normal. Arc I will give to this sound bar. Works . What is the issue? No I do not have a home theatre or anything else to be connected to sound bar. As arc works rite.

@@tycoonruler6455 it has tight bass, not much boomy effect like iv300, but to me the bass sometimes overpowering the voice , so i always on voice on mode while dolby digital plus codec, but with dts format it leave it on auto mode, while using bluetoth with sony music centre app on my iphone , it produces so much bass that i have to low the level from 12 to 6
@@tycoonruler6455 i have tested yamaha 1840, yas 209, jbl bar deep bass, samsung q60t 5.1 , zebronics 9800,rt40, polk signa s2, philips performance bar atmos, among all of them the sony s500rf is way better decoding dolby and dts audio, so i always suggest everyone to test sound of same priced system yourself, only then one can realise how good the s500rf is

And yes was about to purchase the sony ht s500rf last year right before lockdown but due to a delay of a day now am still confused between choices.
Also I had tested the s500rf in croma, however it might be due to large open space the bass or volume felt low.

The rear speakers need to be behind you for a surround effect. Makes no sense for a front setup. If you don't want surround speakers consider getting a soundbar 2.1 setup. Should work well for you.
@@Digit I considered buying a 2.1 setup as well, from Sony too. I noticed the power output is less than half and I am keen on having a central speaker. If I place the speakers in front of me, I may not get a true surround sound experience, however I will get the superb power. Will placing the speakers in front of me be worse than a 2.1 setup? The difference in price is negligible...

Hi, i hav speaker cables running internally , like electric wires in the wall internally. Can i use my own wires fr rear speakers instead using sony branded ones, does the sound quality effected? If not effected then how do i do it?
The back of the sub woofer will only take the Sony cables clip. You will have to go through some cutting and taping to get this done.
