Because the second emperor of the Alessian Empire was a Minotaur. Looks like they kept his chair, I mean, what else were they gonna do with it? They probably couldn’t even get it out through the front door

The Jiub reference across three games was really cool.
Douglas Fulmer all hail Saint Jiub
I must assume nobody made the connection in Oblivion, so his appearance in Skyrim was the developers saying "hey, go back and have a look"
Douglas Fulmer that was my favorite reference
It would have been impossible to make the connection based only on Oblivion.

Jiub drove the Cliff Racers from Vvardenfell! Truly, he is a saint!
I love the one with Jiub because it's a retroactive reference. No one really seemed to notice the connection until it was pointed out years later in a Skyrim expansion.
Even after putting in over 3000 hours into this game, at least 65% of these easter eggs are new to me!
Fuck what any of the hardcore complainers say, Bethesda are the masters of RPG open world gaming!
I think 3000 is a little too much
You don't mod/play mods much do you?
well, throwing in a bunch of easter eggs doesn't make a masterpiece out of a game. it's a fun thing, though - no doubts about it.
It's also true that what makes a masterpiece is pretty much _subjective_ due to the opinions from an ever fluctuating majority in it's own time, just as _my own opinion_ is, and is pretty much unquantifiable as pure fact, but then again, most facts will change in time...It's a fact xD
Cheers!

You're wrong at 27:59. Springheel Jak IS Jakben earl of Imbel. He's a vampire, and thus does not die of old age. His journal reveals this.
He's was probably trying to prevent major spoilers
Some people haven't played Oblivion all the way through yet. Maybe he just wants to make sure the twist is there.
42:28 "... *continent* of Cyrodiil."
The writers must've goofed this line. Cyrodiil is a province which is part of the continent of Tamriel. You'd think Jiub would know this, being a native of Morrowind... another constituent province of Tamriel :P
Since Vvardenfell is an island, I can see how it would make sense that he would refer to the continental part as “the continent”.
@@KonstantinUb It still doesn't make sense. He's referring to Cyrodiil as a continent( "...the *continent* of Cyrodiil). This is like someone saying "I moved from my Ancestral home in New York to the continent of California." while both New York and California are part of the same continent. Not to mention the fact that he never mentioned Vvardenfell being his ancestral home. Morrowind is larger than just the island of Vvardenfell, it's possible his family home was on the mainland. Plus, even if his family *was* from Vvardenfell, it's still part of the continent regardless. That'd be like saying Alcatraz Island isn't part of North America.
Basically, the writers flubbed the line.
Or he just said the wrong word.
@@cones914 Nope I can't allow this sir
Fun fact: Blue Suede Shoes was actually written and recorded by Rockabilly icon, Carl Perkins, which earned him a gold record for the song. Elvis was later falsely, and more widely, recognized as the writer of the song when he performed the song live, and then recorded and released a cover of the song on his first record.
Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip a member of Young Bosnia. That organization was responsible for the assassination. They did receive some help from Black hand (weapons, training and intel) but two organizations were independent from each other with only one overlapping member. These organizations were not "selected assassins" but nationalists and resistance/rebel movements who wanted to liberate and unite south Slavic tribes on Balkan. Young Bosnia were civilians mostly living in Austria-Hungary while Black hand members were mostly officers for the Serbian army.
This deserves more likes and attention. With the internet, there is no excuse for incorrect information - especially when creating a bit of media.
Serbs and Bosnians starting bloody wars? How unlike them.
Terrorists not rebels. Being responsible for the 20 million killed in WW1 and thus 75 million in WW2 is not the action of "Civilians." At the very least the blood of nearly 100 million people is on Princip's wicked hands.
@Fuzzy Dunlop honestly as much as I like camel, he gets a lotttt of things wrong. Multiple discrepancies were pointed out in this video alone, but many times references he makes to smth like norse mythos are just mistaken
3:00 Barbas actually appears in the redguard game and he likes cyrus and shapeshifts his face to imitate him xD Calvicus also constantly plays with a yo-yo... dorky guy indeed.
the yoyo was cyrus's sister, changed by clavicus.

Never knew about the Jiub one, I always just assumed that they tacked on the Kvatch backstory to add a reason for him to be in the Soul Cairn. Absolutely nothing you say can convince me to find all his pages though
my horse got warped in somehow, so it wasn't that bad for me
Just follow the guide on the wiki. If you know where the big wall you have to go through is, and where Valerica is, its pretty easy. Just time consuming. Helps if you get Arvak beforehand.
The reward for finding all ten pages is one of, if not the most beneficial, amulets in the entire game. With the walkthrough on the Skyrim wiki finding all ten pages will probably only take you about twenty to thirty minutes, less if you use Arvak and he's along the way.
@@CoRLex-jh5vx The good ole tactic of finding maps and hints online then printing them and looking at them once you're in the Soul Cairn.

One of my top reasons for Oblivion being my favourite game ever is that no matter how many times I play it, or how many hours I spend exploring, I am still finding new places and hidden items after ten years. Watching this video showed even more things I've never seen and now I want to start my 6th playthrough...
You should try skyrim if you haven’t yet
In Skyrim, you can hear M'aiq saying something like "M'aiq has to go now, he is needed elsewhere." Now I'm fairly certain that's an obvious hint that Bethesda planned to take the next game to Elsweyr just like the one in Oblivion which was talking about seeing dragons.
that would be awesome!
+Andrew Markus We can only hope. I'd love to enter the portal to Azura's realm.
it would be a adventure game because the place of elswyr is pretty boring
The Doctor Jedi - Gaming, Skits And More
Yes cause you definitely played A LOT of games set there to know how boring it is. Also every TES game is action-adventure RPG.
+Andrew Markus no I'm saying like redguard adventure game
In Redguard, you go to Clavicus Vile's realm. Cyrus meets Barbas and Barbas ends up shape shifting to look like Cyrus because he likes him. I'm guessing that's what the 'I was a Redguard' line was referring to.
"Now what was it I said to that prisoner? "Stand up, there you go. You were dreaming..." Yes, that was it."

I feel like it's comparable in ease of reading to a foreign phone book, but the stories it tells are actually really cool. :3

Those 3 souls gems are Blue, Green, and Red. The colors of the Stones from Ocarina of Time.
Those colors are really commom though. They could be anything for example the pokemon evolve stones
@@arandomedgymiddleschooler4746 possibly, but the main three evolution stones are red, blue, and yellow, although, yes, there is a green one.
I can see Blue and a bit of Green, but I don't know how the third one could be taken for Red in any context.
Well his point of not understanding their presence is quite a dumb one. S’Drassa collects crystals. They are just part of his collection.
I thought it could’ve been the 3 shards from a Jim Henson movie called the Dark crystal in a scene where Jen has to figure out which shard would fit in the dark crystal, he limits the crystal down to 3 and these 3 crystals have somewhat similar shape but it is just my guess

14:30 - Fin Gleem is a reference to Splinter Cell and Sam Fischer (fisher). It's meant to be like his night vision goggles.
Just a layman here. Why exactly is it a reference to Splinter Cell? I'm just curious and having never really played Splinter Cell, am struggling to find information.
@@facejobby Oh man it was so long ago even I can't remember now. I just know I saw a video with the devs putting it there and them talking about how it would be cool to have a Sam Fisher style character in Oblivion. They put detect life onto Fin Gleem as well to sort of imitate the thermal vision function of the iconic Splinter Cell goggles. Wish I could remember what video it was on for you bro.
@@SSZaris Hey no problem, that info. is good enough for me. Certainly doesn't sound out of the ordinary given how many different easter eggs there are out there.
Or you know Aluc Cardius could be referencing Dracula's son Alucard.

or just your character
James Kelly Hero of Kvatch is the player chracter from Oblivion
Yup, I think Wes Johnson (Sheo's voice actor in both games) even confirmed somewhere that Sheogorath in Skyrim is in fact your dude from Oblivion. Personally, I thought the ending to the Shivering Isles made it quite clear that it had to be, but I guess some people still dispute that. lol
Ozymandias916 I just thought that me being the god of madness was just temporal, until Sheo get's better and returns. Apparently he didn't by the time of Skyrim :) (Or he consumed hero of kvatch's soul or something)
BlueShit199
Nope, in the Shivering Isles they expressly tell you that you are the new Sheogorath, permanently, since you were the first to successfully stop the Greymarch and finally allow the old Sheogorath to break the curse placed on him by the other Daedric princes and return to his original form as Jyggalag.
I watch these and you point out references from stuff I've vaguely heard of. Was not expecting one day to have properly read and understood one.
Redwall is fun.

These games are huge. Most people don't have the time or interest in wandering around for hours upon hours searching.
3:07 apparently in Redguard, Barbas took so much liking with Cyrus, at one point, he actually mimicked Cyrus´s face, so technically it/he was a Redguard as well. :,D
I'm still fucking haunted by Clavicus Vile's voice. Mother fucker sounds like demonic gingy
I played Oblivion 3 times, but I never ever knew about Jiub's severed head in Kvatch.
He can pronounce the goddamn character names but not "Franz Ferdinand" ....
Franz Ferdinand vs. Kaiser Wilhelm II
He has dylexia.
And how the fuck does that affect pronunciation?
Flex Rage but he pronounced Antionette Marie perfect
The Random Game Noob He... Didn't pronounce it right. It has no -uh sound on the end of Antoinette.
Some other things as well:
The oblivion gate itself = Eye of Sauron
Modryn Oreyn gives you the helmet at the end of FG quest line which is reference to certain Morrowind quest
Also, I guess in norwegian Jak ben imbel means I am nimble
Then name of the ransacked city Kvatch means actually humbug in german. So "for humbug!"
Jak ben imbel is not norwegian, not even close to any real words
@@Staturoyl Ok, must've been some other nortehrn germanic language then
@@samppakoivula9977 i know this comment was like a whole year ago, but if you say "jak ben imbel" fast it sounds like "jack be nimble" so it's probably a reference to "jack be nimble, jack be quick, jack jump over the candlestick" which makes sense with springheel jak
3:00 Well, you're _almost_ right. In the Game Cyrus travels to the Realm of Clavicus Vile and has a talk with him. Barbas, of course, is also there and being a shapeshifter and all, he continually, well, shifts his shape and at some point he shapeshifts his Face into Cyrus' face. That's what Barbas probably meant.
*pushes up glasses* Well... *Proceeds to go on about some obscure lore aspect no one gives a fuck about*
Wow. What would we do without you man
@@caesarion4596 I just wanted to correct a misbelief. Theorizing that Cyrus was actually Barbas in Redguard is just wrong and wouldn't make sense.
To be fair, maybe there is an alternate storyline where Barbas took Cyrus's place in the game. If you lose Vile's game and all that, you know?
oblivion had a quality assurance team?
the bugs must be features then
They did a good job. Theres a lot of features.

Excellent video! Such interesting Easter Eggs! Thank you very much for uploading!
this is amazing! i adore oblivion, sunk a large chunk of my life into it, and i still didn't know about a lot of these! i remember when i first found the giant slaughterfish and the giant crab. that was probably one of the highlights of my life lmao
By golly, you're the best!
You adore?
blue suede shoes was written and composed by carl perkins
Elvis just popularized it with his cover that everyone loves.
Right right that’s why Perkins song went platinum with in a year of its release. And Elvis version of the song went gold 40 years later lol.
I am glad someone pointed this out.
@@joelbizzell1386who gives a shit
@@Kingsc84 except who the fuck is perkins yet everyone knows elvis, hence why its famous as that is the definition of famous, and thats why its in the game
The Soulgems in Leyawin at 40:50 are not meant to represent soulgems, you've completely missed the nearby Khajit character who has a questline for collecting crystals. those stones are meant to represent his crystal collection.
8:55 Alucard is the name of the son of Dracula from the castlevania series, wich is Dracula backwards because he has a polar opposite personality to his dear old Dad.
You have done a great job on this list, it has got to be the most inclusive easter egg video on oblivion i have seen.
Keep up the great work.
Alucard is also Dracula's son. I think the vampire Easter Egg was a reference to Alucard more than anything.
Joe Metzgar alucard/dracula look the stick like a mirrow
Hellspawn, it is referring to the sequel of the classic 1930s Dracula movie by Universal Studios; The Son of Dracula. Since that movie, several other works, such as Castlevania, have also used the name Alucard for Dracula's son.
Hellspawn you asked if he spoke of something else.
Joe Metzgar Yeah like in castlevania
Castlevania someone?
"Blue Suede Shoes" was written by Carl Perkins, and, originally recorded by him, not Elvis.
Yet no one cares and, if not for Elvis, no one would remember.
Blue Suede Shoes was a number 1 hit before Elvis touched it, but Elvis stole most of his music, anyway.
Also, I care, and my name isn't No One.
@@YouaNumbahOneRacist Ike Turner and Branford Marsalis disagree but what do they know?
Your argument is as stolen as Elvis' music and your name isn't no on, but rest assured that you're definitely a nobody.
How about thanking the man for opening a door and mashing two cultures together the way society and the law wouldn't allow at the time.
Actually the one who assassinated Franz was a dude named Gavrilo Principe who was a member of Young Bosnia. Young Bosnia was under the Black Hands possession but it is unknown if they planned what Gavrilo did.
I know it's long overdue but an Easter Egg for Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles would be awesome.
thank you camel for making an oblivion video :)
because honestly oblivion is underrated
I found Jiub's head the first time I played Oblivion back in '06. Never realised that was him until now.
It's not him
Renato Laranja how so
Referring to my previous comment "That's not Jiub. The head only has pointed ears in your game because it's modded and the mods must have added the ear textures. In vanilla Oblivion, that head is just a replica of every other head like that in the game (usually found on spikes)."
@@JoshEvansHeavens it isnt jiub because the same head can be found in other caves from what i remember, i think you can also find it deeper in the castle
Thanks for this, I'll be replaying Oblivion now.
I used to live in Maryland, and I love the way you say it. Makes me feel merry

Why
This is one of my favorite games. I put hundreds upon hundreds of hours in this game and I was shocked to see how many of these easter eggs I knew. Your videos are so amazing and I can't find the words to appreciate how much work you put into these videos for us. Thank you Camel!
+HyperactiveGaming Thank you for the kind words! I think we all put hundreds of hours into this game!
I need to play morrowind 😭
+Camelworks hey that book that had ofors baggins in it also had green leaf which is legolas'es last name
+Wobbly Kreepston oops i just realized it was the green leaf fastener
Very cool on the Jiub discovery! I found most of the other ones, but that one was a surprise! 👍👍
This is one of my all time favourite Oblivion easter egg videos.

I really like these elder scroll videos. I was in love with Obivion in high school. Thanx for posting these, reminds me of why I liked to play it so much.
This is the most entertaining Oblivion related video I've ever got the pleasure to watch.
I'm showing this to my Oblivion hungry friends they'll love it
Murkywater from PAYDAY 2: Inspired by Blackwater
Merryweather from GTA V: Inspired by Blackwater
Blackwood from Obvilion: Inspired by Blackwater
There probably is even more, those just game to mind.
Pun not intended?
Maybe? Maybe a typo?
Blackwater from Hitman: Inspired b- you get the idea.
Voult Bioy the blackwater brigands in the quest the lost voyage is what he is talking about
Just wow.. I remembered every single location in this video, therefore I spent way too much time playing Oblivion. But never have I known about certain Easter Eggs you have shown. High quality work mate! Thank you very much!

When translated from daedric to english alphabet, the text in the "bible of the deep ones" is very similar to the text in "N'gasta! Kvakis!" which may indicate that the deep ones may indeed be sload.
What they'd be doing so far inland and underground I don't know!
ACTUALLY, I kinda always thought the Countess who tortures people was in reference to the Blood Countess, Elizabeth Bathory, who tortured young female servants and villagers along with her husband, similarly to the Countess in-game. Two torturous countesses with complacent/accomplice(?) husbands. Interesting.... Great video man, I know it's an old one but a good one!
Duuuuuude why didn't I discover you before ?! You're doing the EXACT type of videos I always searched for. Your search investment, the effort of illustrating everything you say with real images of the game you recorded, and with creative work on the point of views and the movement of the camera... That's exactly what I call a great video.
You're gold.
Goddammit Alucard, when you say you're going to take an enthusiastic walk in the woods, I never expected you meant Cyrodiil.
"VERY Enthusiastic walks".
Bitches Love Cannons!!
but if you look in your heart, which is splattered all over that tree, im sure you can forgive him
TeamFourStar are geniuses when it comes to parody.
I love how during the part with Ma'iq an Oblivion gate appears somewhere near and the surroundings just slowly turns an ominous dark red. All the while Ma'iq keep staring at you with a sly smirk.
During one of my play threws of this i was walking into an oblivion portal and right before i could go in the count of skin grad walked out of it and i couldn't help but think what tf was he doing in there
Big ups for the Jiub find. That's some pretty substantive stuff you pieced together. Wonder what came first, the head simply looking like Jiubs and then a member of the Dev team thought to elaborate on it, or them wanting to always place Jiub in Kvatch. I'd love to bring it up to someone from Bethesda that's not an asshole.
This is my favorite game and I've been waiting for this video! :D
+Gargamore Finally the wait is over for the both of us :)
An absolute joy to watch, you have got a subscriber!
Obviously u haven't played Redguard, in one of the last quests, Cyrus goes to one of Clavicus Vile's realms and bartens with him for his sister's soul, during such interaction, Barbas was barking next to Clavicus Vile. So Barbas can't be Cyrus
Thank you so much for this video its crazy how much of these things i found but i had no idea that they meant anything
you missed the Band's of Kwang Lao, it fortifies hand to hand 20 points. it is clearly a mortal combat reference easter egg to Kung Lao.
Either I missed this one or you didn't mention it. In the Shivering Isles you can find a chest called "The Dark Chest of Wonders" and inside is the "ring of the oceanborn" both are references to the band NIghtwish
I see you are a being of culture as well
nice finds
