- We were recently reviewing the Aero 98 and VCORE 98 V7 which got me thinking, player's spin rackets are becoming insanely popular. They're some of the most well rounded on the market, and these three are our pick of the bunch.
Check out our detailed written comparison here: racketsandrunners.ca/blogs/pr...

Vcore 98 tour is a gem. Super well-rounded like you said. Good for serve, volley, FH, BH, slice. Beautiful racquet
Really good review, very enjoyable to watch. All the information was well put together and I found this super helpful. I currently use the latest ezone 98, but will try the vcore once the price comes down a little.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Comparing the EZONE to the VCORE is something we look forward to doing in the future.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver thank you that would be a great review also!! Again this video was super informative I have watched it a couple of times. Good luck with your future videos!!
Great comparison once again!`
Thanks Sam!
Wow super insightful. I love the new vcore!!
Thank you Celine! It's a great racket :)
Loved the in depth comparison between these 3 solid choices of spin oriented racquets! Just a minor observation, you said that only the Head Extreme Tour has spin grommets out of those 3 racquets, however the Pure Aero has them as well.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed :)
I should have been more careful with the wording for the Spin Grommets. What I meant is that the grommets on the Aero/VCORE are significantly less spacious than the ones on the Extreme. I actually don't know why Babolat is still labeling them Spin Grommets because they look pretty much standard to me, especially when compared to the previous Aero 100s, where they were massive.
Nice review! Today I use babolat aeropro drive 2013 and Im looking for more control, do you recommend one of these three?
Thank you! Definitely! I think the Aero 98 is a perfect racket for Aero users who are looking for more control/precision. Just look at how it's working for Alcaraz, Rune and Felix!
I love my Prince Tour 98 ESP 16X16 old school my favorite racquet of all time and I can't quit using it after 8 years.
Have you tride PrincSynergy?
18x18?
The ET is a super weak frame in stock. You have to add a good amount of weight to get the same performance as an Aero 98. This is why the Aero 98 is so good, it works perfect in stock. It has Control/Feel, Spin, Power, Stability and all in a manageable package.... lots of ppl seem not to understand this aspect. If you weight a racquet up, u have to wield this thing around for 1-2 hours. More static weight means faster fatigue, unless you have the fitness of a pro maybe. ,)
Hi Luca, thanks a lot for the review, exactly the comparison I was looking for. Quick question, how does the Vcore appears to be the best for control and for power ? At the opposite the Extreme which seems to have the least amount of control but still the least powerful out of the 3. Is itrelated to spin ? Consistency of the frames ? Thanks for the answer !
Good question. The Vcore is a unique racket because of that shape where, in the right hands it may provide the most of everything to someone. The problem is that unique shape is difficult to get used to. The Extreme may not be as "technically" good in some ways but because it's more traditional and user-friendly it could end up working for more people. And yes, consistency is a HUGE part of that because the Vcore is definitely inconsistent in the right hands.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thanks a lot for the answer, I guess then its a matter of getting them to demo to get a personal feel to it. Keep up the amazing work !
Thank’s for a pleasant review! Which one of these three did you like the most in stock form (without customization)?
I would have to say the Aero 98. That said, I think the VCORE and the Aero are both perfect stock, it's just the Extreme that can definitely do with a bit of weight.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thank's for your reply! I use extreme tour 360+ and like it with some additional weight at 12. But as I added just 2 gramms at 12 I felt a wrist pain. Didn't have such issues while playing with this racquet in stock form but was lacking stability and power. So now I search for something better in stock form.
I agree the new Vcore 98 probably is the best I have played so far. It plays better and with great control if you can swing faster! any recommendations on the string for the Vcore 98? I currently use Solinco hyper G.
Hyper G is great in that racket. I'll never recommend anyone move away from Hyper G if they like it. The one thing I will say is that putting a slick snappy poly in here will really complement these new grommets Yonex is using, so you could try something rough instead of shaped (like RPM/Alu Rough).
Hi, wich stick is more easy to use ? To swing in the air and get good precision
The Extreme Tour is the easiest to use and has good precision but if you want the most precision that's the Aero 98!
Hey Luca - I find myself re-watching this video as I wrap up my racket search. Would you put the Whiteout 16x19 in this category as well as a direct comparison?
Unfortunately, I have never tried it.
Great review, but now I'm no closer to deciding haha. They all have pros and cons for my game. I lose confidence if the ball flies off my strings with too much power so I string pretty high at 62 lbs in my Wilson Ultra Tour and 60 lbs in my Head Prestige MP with Alu Big Bangers Rough. I don't mind the loss of power. Which racquet would you recommend for control but still excellent spin, especially on slice and kick serves?
I would have to go with the 98; to me, the most precise of the three. They will all be very different to the rackets you're using though so be careful... May have to crank that tension up to 70 😅
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Ah geez I've had enough instances of tennis elbow at 60lbs as it is haha. Maybe I'm better staying with a control racquet and just play around with some spin friendly strings. Thanks for the advice :)
Nice haircut, awesome review!
Thank you!
Obviously not as spin friendly, but would you put the Wilson shift 300g in this category as well? And if so where do you think it belongs compared?
Yes, it DEFINITELY belongs here. Just got my hands on the retail model so we'll have our review up in the coming weeks. I may update this "modern spin rackets video" where I'll cover that in a bit more detail but, honestly, I'm not even sure it is less spin-friendly than these.
Hi. Where would you put the ezone 98 in this comparison in same categories ?
Very close in terms of spin but marginally less than the 3. Also, a little bit more power and user-friendly than the 3 but difficult to compare in terms of control.
I am a kinda intermediate level player. The shot I feel confident the most is forehand (consistent and can generate plenty of spin and power). However, I really have struggle with backhand and currently feel best at the net when I hold prostaff. What racquet do you rhink suit me the best out of these 3.
The Aero 98 would be best, I think.
I've been playing one-handed backhand and found Extreme Tour pretty good when playing from baseline but lack of directional control, Regna 98 is a good one in terms of control and power
Hey Luca, which string setup did you like most in the pa 98? Thanks 🙏
Babolat RPM Rough 17 @ 52 pounds.
thank you ! I am currently looking for an update to my beloved PureAero VS :) do you think 98 is a switch ?
I think the Aero 98 is a big upgrade in terms of feel. That's quite subjective though so if you're happy with the feel on that racket though, everything else is pretty much identical.
2:02 The pure aero 98 has spin grommets right? I know the pure aero VS has them, but maybe they removed them for this newer version.
They're still branded as "spin grommets" but aren't nearly as squared off and open as they were on the VS. To me, they look a lot more like a standard set.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver i have both and i never noticed this with mine. maybe thats why i prefer the VS more 🤷♂
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver i just checked and youre right, the grommets are 1000% different between the two, i wonder why they did that
Which is more arm friendly? I think that Pure Aero and Extreme are very are stiffer than V-core, no? So, do you think V-CORE is the most comfortable?
The VCORE and Extreme are both very arm friendly. If I had to pick one, the Extreme actually edges it for me.
What about the aero vs the ezone for a college player? Any thoughts
Both are fantastic; go for the Ezone if you want a little bit more control and the Aero if you want more spin. Power will be similar.
How is vcore the most power but also most control? And how is the extreme the lowest power and most flexible but least control?
It's a bit tough to explain but power and control don't always fall on a perfect spectrum. The Vcore is powerful because it's so sturdy in the hoop, but then it has great control b/c of its flexible throat. The Extreme feels very soft and flexible but it has a slightly less predictable launch which takes away from its control.
Just got my new Extreme Tour tonight. I'm switching over the VS/98.
Very nice!
Hey could you look into the tf-x1 300?
We've been looking into them and will update if we get them!
Which has more spin: Ezone 98 7th gen or Vcore 98 7th gen ( and also which has more power )
Hey Philippe, to me, the VCORE has more spin. In the past I would have said the EZONE over the VCORE, but with the v7, Yonex has drastically improved spin potential.
In terms of power, it's close. Both got more powerful in their newest version but I would probably give the edge to the VCORE.
I want to demo only 2 of these, but I can’t rule out one. Which one would you say is the one least worth trying?
That's a tough one but I would say the Extreme Tour.
The Aero is also 5gs less in weight than the other two, which may not seem like a lot but its actually huge for the static weight to be less which increases the swing speed !
I'm referring to the Aero 98 here, which is 305 grams like the other two.
How does the Shift 100 compare?
Do you think the Pure Aero 98 could cause arm problems?
Vcore vs boom? It would be interesting comparision since both have similar isometric head size
It's a video I'm very interested to make; maybe when the new Boom comes out.
Good! I really loved the power and spin of the Boom Pro but had to switch to the Vcore 98, it was so much more controllable@@RacketsRunnersVancouver
You should throw in the Technifibre T flight 305, even the the 18 x19 spring pattern its strangly creates a very large amount of spin, a lot of control with feedback and loads of power, the latter is the power can be too much for the club player so the 300 RS with lower swing weight is a worthy option and it has a 16 x 19 pattern.
I haven't played with the new T-Fight, but love my old one so I'm super excited to play test that one. Something about an 18x19...
Which one is better for one handed backhand?
I really can’t say as I have a worse one handed backhand than Roger Federer’s two handed back hand 😅
Extreme tour
Do you think the extreme is unpredictable if compared to the vcore 95?
I still think the extreme tour is more predictable than any of the new Vcore rackets but the 95 is by far the most predictable of the 100, 98, and 95.
Please compare speed mp with vcore 100 and pure aero 2023 100'
That seems like a popular video; I'll look into it soon.
Which one has more confort?
The Extreme Tour.
Interesting. I found the extreme tour to be more controlled than the aero 98.
It's less powerful but I think the Aero has a more precise feel to it.
For me Extreme tour have unpredictable response. If you hit some ball without big spin ball can fly away sometimes. Pure aero is way more consistent. Ezone 98 by the way have a very good spin (for me it have more spin than aero and extreme tour)
Hey Sergey, I agree that the Extreme tends to feel a bit wild, but adding weight can help stabilize it.
The EZONE almost made the list for me but I didn't find it quite as spin friendly as the other 3. Very close though.
Extreme tour is a platform frame. The unpredictable response is certainly due to the fact that the frame has a lower twistweight compared to the others frame. It helps you for quick moves when you get difficulties to hold more than 300grs. If you need more solid response, a little weight at 3 and 9 can transform the Extreme tour. Then you a a better frame than the two others.
@@OlivierL i like a previous extreme tour (360+ i think) . It play way better for me. No "unpredictable" shots. But it hurt my elbow
@@sergeykouptsov
I'm agree with you, I also have the precedent version and it plays way better than the Auxetic. The stringbed is more consistent but the 360+ also needs some weight to shine.
@@OlivierL yes i put some weight on 3-9 on 360+. I tryed some weight with auxetic (3-9, or 11-2 or at 12). Some solicon. Better but not working for me. Pureaero98 (and 100 also) and Yonex ezone 98 work way better for my game (eastern forhand grip but very spin stroke). I cant put too much weight on racket. Can handle 330 swinweight max.I like a volley only with auxetic. Very good
Extreme vs tf40 305 please?
I'll definitely look to include them in a future video!
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver no please 1 video comparing them at least with other 98 305...
