In the Words of Roger Mayweather; "Most people don't know sh** about boxing." People think Ryan is a IG Model or some punk kid. I watch boxing. I saw Ryan destroy everyone except for Tank. If you really watched boxing, and looked past the media antics. You would see Ryan is a special talent who is not even utilizing all his potential. If he took the sport serious, I bet he could easily be a champion at 147 and 154. That combination of speed and power is a rare trait. Haney had less speed, and far less power. No one at 140, 147, or 154 can take that punch from Ryan.
That’s exactly why people thought he would lose tho. He relies a lot on his speed rather than skill. He won simply because he was faster mor aggressive and Haney can’t handle those kinds of fighters. I hope Ryan continues to hone his skills and not rely on his speed and ferocity

The tank loss was a gift for ryan without it we wouldn't see this side of ryan, you can only learn when you lose
Hate to break it to you but he was actually way sharper in the tank fight. I think his problem was he knows tank can hurt him so he rarely let his hands go. But against Haney it was different and he was more comfortable

Garciabwas weight drained and dehydrated, his speed and power were gone and he boxes like a 6 year old girl so that couldn't save him.
Tank could react to the hook because hebwas fighting half speed Garcia, everyone else doesn't see the hook coming until they watch the slow-mo replay the morning after.

They both looked like amateur hour. Devin was scared of the hook, and has no power. Garcia looked like garbage, but was the faster harder hitter that night.
Also, it is a completely different fight. They know each other very well. So there is more hesitation on both parts.

Would love to see a breakdown of a Lomachenko highlight video. When you brought up the loophole where a fighter turns away.. Lomachenko came to mind on how he would simply side step/ dance around the turned opponent and use their turned away position to his advantage. It happened constantly throughout his career where he would get the KO from that situation. Plus I think your breakdown on his footwork would be great!

Ryan does it with just a little bit of a twist and everybody loses their heads over it... For right handers, the only thing it ever leaves open is lower left side body shots... Same thing when Garcia was doing his version of it and Devin was hitting him there he just doesn't have the power to make it count.

Turning your back to your opponent in Boxing\Kickboxing is the most frustrating thing in both of these disciplines. Refs need to start stepping in more and docking points or just straight up stopping the fight.

Dj, how well do you think using your footwork to create angles when a fighter is turning their back like that would work?
If you go back and watch some of Loma's old fights, anytime someone ducked low or turned their back even slightly, he'd use that as an opportunity to switch angles and either lean on them to punish that, feed them upper cuts, or wait for them to stand back up only to get fed a combination by Loma. If Ryan tries that with more well-rounded high level fighters, he'll get beat up badly. Ryan was lucky Devin wasn't very powerful or durable, on top of not making adjustments.

Ryan had 2 more knockdowns in the 7th. The ref also has to call a standing 8 when Haney fell into the ropes. The ref not only did not call 3 of the knockdowns, knockdowns, he also did everything in his power to give Haney time to recover. I’m glad it didn’t impact the outcome of the fight, but the ref doesn’t need to be officiating anymore title fights.

Devin is used to fighting boxers shorter than him and smaller than him so I don't think he was expecting Ryan's reach to get past his job like that because he's so used to the fighters having shorter arms and being smaller to wear his job just keeps them off of him at all times. But with Ryan being the same size as him was able to counter with the left hook immediately after the job because he has a little more size to him than what Devin is used to

Dj love what you are putting up. At around the 6:30 mark you ask about how a boxer can bypass the weird shoulder roll Ryan was doing. My answer is going to be a unique one since I train Muay Thai and I can work out of both stances. So my answer is going to reflect it. For me personally I would step my left leg over toward my left(side ryan is bending towards) but instead of stay as a righty I would switch to south paw. In doing so I change the angle in which my target is. Giving me better option such as a right shovel hook to the side of the head that is open or if you want to get fancy left uppercut to that right shoulder making his head pop up and right hook over the top. Might work might not this is my two cents on how I see it. Try it out see what you think.
